People who say the GameCube controller is uncomfortable didn’t grow up playing on controllers like Sega Genesis, Saturn, the og Xbox, or any of the later Atari consoles. Play those and then tell me the game cube controller sucks. Hell, handle the puppy dog Switch controller and you can see the GC Controller is leagues better.
I mean if there's a GC controller with a matte like grip like with how Switch Pro Controller is than that will be perfect. Besides this yeah, I think GC Controller is my most favorite controller... to play Smash... obviously, if you ask me which is the best controller to me overall... sorry that has to go to Switch Pro Controller.

As for FPS, I go with keyboard and mouse than controllers with motion controls anyday. So fi you have catch up to me... I think both Pro and GC controller are about as good. Yet, it's really subjective when it comes to which is the best, especially when it comes to genre of the game.

Coming from someone who has played basically every console, the GameCube controller is one of the very best. Pressure sensitive analogue triggers that have a satisfying click, buttons aligned in a matter where 3 of the 4 can sit nicely under your thumb without accidentally pressing any, a rounded shape instead of the box shape used on the PlayStation that perfectly fits the palm, the gc controller is sublime. My only grievances with it are the tiny, cramped d pad and the lack of a couple buttons that others had. I. E. The select button, stick buttons, and a second shoulder button. The only controller that comes close is the 360 controller. That controller is damn near perfect if it weren’t for that stupid *** d pad and the cheapness of the controller itself with all it’s creaking, misaligned analogue sticks, and terrible springs in the triggers and bumpers. The Switch Pro could’ve been something special but alas they still haven’t put the analogue triggers back into their consoles which will forever irk me.
What I like about the GC controller was that I felt it was "designed" for playing Smash Bros, the button maping is great of the game and so is the :GCCN:
That being said... you still need GC adapter or buy that GC controller from HORI.

Coming from someone who has played basically every console, the sideways Wii Remote is one of the very best. A trigger-shaped B button that has a satisfying click, buttons aligned in a matter where 2 of the 4 can sit nicely under your thumb without accidentally pressing any, a box shape instead of the rounded shape used on the GameCube that perfectly fits the palm, the wiimote is sublime. My only grievances with it are the tiny, cramped d pad and the lack of a couple buttons that others had. I. E. The select button, stick buttons, and any shoulder buttons. Xbox and PlayStation both took a step back with this generations controllers while Nintendo took a baby step forward.

So, yeah, y’all are wrong is basically what I’m saying. :p

My most disliked controller of all time has to be the Wii U gamepad. I always disliked the concept of dual screens, but for a home console, its even worse because the screens are bigger- the gamepad and television screen. It doesn't help that certain games made it mandatory.

As for my most favorite, hands down goes to the Xbox 360 Controller. Few controllers can stand par with its comfortable grip and button placement.

And of course, special shout out to the GameCube controller. That's a childhood favorite right there.

Yeah, Wii U gamepad is pretty hard to deal with, worse than that would be using a wiimote. Better than both is the gamecube controller, but I'd rather use whatever other controller than a gamecube controller for any game that isn't smash. Even then I do fine without a gamecube controller unless it's one of the former two. I was actually better using my 3DS TBH, too bad my Smash 3DS is currently lost unless I traded it and forgot.

If you bekieve the GC controller to be anything but an utter piece of crap, your opinion is invalid to me. Just because it wasn't designed by aliens like the N64 doesn't mean it's good. Nintenso had the perfect controller back in the SNES and then went "lol nope" and threw it all away. Meanwhile, Sony was just like "wtf man" and got it right after their first attempt which is why everyone copies it nowadays.
It seriously took Nintendo until the Switch for us to get a functional default controller.
Somehow the last thing I imagined you playing was Skyrim.
I don't think he does. He just memes it.
I've played Skyrim before. Otherwise, Todd would never have let me leave his realm alive.
I don't expect for Shisho to play anything without an anime girl. But then again I can't tell whether or not he's memeing about Fortnite, soooo.....
*Default dances on your face* lmao

Whatever. The GC Controller is pretty good. Namely for the shoulder buttons, analog stick and general outer shape. It had a pretty trash D-Pad though. I'll stand on that hill. Though I don't feel the need to bring it back either.

PS2 is one of the GOATs. The only thing I don't like about older controllers (NES/SNES) is the lack of handles, but that mostly because I started with the PS1, so I'm used to controllers having them. 360 was fine too, especially for playing DMC4.

So NonSpecificGuy NonSpecificGuy is the only one without a complete trash opinion here.

GCN is okay. It does its job and does it well enough. I think the only exception lies in handling traditional fighting games and even certain arena fighters' style of play. Could just be a me thing, but I had a helluva time playing stuff like SC2 and CvS2 on those things.

PS-style controllers are probably my favorite overall. Ergonomic, plenty of buttons, decent analog placement and function, and a workable dpad, it's quite the workhorse. I played the Smash-like Slap City on a Logitech F310 and lemme tell you, I was genuinely surprised to find that it works REALLY well for that kind of game. The dpad was set up like a radial pad (think the old Sega controllers), but everything else was like a PlayStation controller. Took a minute to get down but I never felt more in control of my character with that specific set-up. I'd legit consider playing regular Smash with one if I could swing it (converters cost money, TOs, etc). I definitely prefer these controllers for action games and fighting games.

Xbox 360/Xbone controllers and the Switch Pro are a close second. These controllers are also super versatile and comfortable, and the analog placements are excellent. I like 'em for 3D platformers or shooters.

...though to be honest, controllers are like the penultimate form of YMMV. Some may find this one good for them, some may find that one good for them. It's all down to preference.

GCN's fine for Soul Calibur 2 for me. CvS2 I have more trouble with SRK motions, but that might be because I suck or the inputs are stricter than Tekken 7 and Ultra Street Fighter 4, where SRK motions are pretty damn easy for me.

Eh, button placement is weird on the GC version of SC2. I just couldn't reconcile where and what buttons to press (at the time), lol.

And I dunno about the leniency of inputs afforded to players in Tekken 7, but USF4 had shortcuts and target combos aplenty (plus a pretty generous buffer). Only REALLY hard stuff lied in links, particularly one-framers. CvS2EO (GC version) was hard as hell to manage, even with the one-button supers, mainly because it was SNK and SNK loved their execution barriers way back when.

I'm nabbing a PowerA GCN later on in the month specifically for Smash. They...look like a Gamecube controller, but with slightly wider shoulder buttons and Switch menu buttons for navigating the console's interface and other widgets. Looks like this:

Pretty snazzy. Got the wired one that has a detachable USB cord for maximum storage. I only hope that the TOs don't get their underwear too knotted up because it's a USB controller and not a more traditional one.

...I do have a normal one, but I refuse to use it on the grounds that it was given to me by a good friend of mine, Ryan (nesn00b), before he died. I wanna keep it as-is, unmolested and intact, to serve as an ever-present reminder of how much I love this community, and always will.

Hi everyone.

Since today are mid-term elections, I wanted to make a post to remind everyone to keep it civil. Of course, it is fine to have political discussion, but I do not want to see snarky comments and flaming today. Let's be firm in our beliefs yet kind and understanding towards others at the same time.

I hope you all are doing well.

Regardless of your political beliefs, I hope you all make an effort to make it to the polls today! My prediction for tonight is the Democrats take the House and GOP holds the senate. Will be interesting to see how some races go.

I absolutely love the Switch Pro Controller and plan it to be my main Smash choice. I already have an official GameCube controller and adapter but I'm having problems enjoying it on the Switch.

Don't get me wrong I really like the GC controller (ARMS feels GREAT with it) but being wired, bad D-Pad, and missing 6 Switch buttons makes some games less fun or even unplayable.

That's why I'm getting that PowerA wireless GameCube style controller. It addresses all problems mentioned above plus it has motion controls.

I do like the GCN the best, but I think the complaints were saying the controller is acting off like it's broken or smth.

May stick with the pro controller this time around, but I don't know if that can work well at tournaments.

The GameCube controller is one of my favorite controllers in all of gaming (Playstation 2/3, Switch Pro Controller, and the NES Zapper...if that can count...are some of my other favorites), so I’m definitely gonna get me this GameCube Switch Pro Controller thing (as it’s a win win for me when it comes to the SPC and GCC)

Haven't seen it posted here, but just wanted to drop the news here that a new Feh Channel for Fire Emblem Heroes is airing tomorrow at 7:30 PT! It'll be 13 minutes long, and it will talk about the new update.

There was a problem fetching the tweet

Thoughts/hopes on what will be talked about tomorrow?

I've been hearing some news that this will mainly talk about the new ver. 2.11 update, but it could end with a teaser for the ver. 3.0 update/Book III of story mode.
