I'm pretty late to this conversation, but I think that Undertale counts as a "viral game" so to speak. As in a game that's so popular virally that it reaches the knowledge of many non-gamers.

For instance, my five year old cousin knows about Undertale and its main characters. Not like she actually played the game, since she doesn't have a console that can play it, so I assume she knows about it via youtube.

It's similar to all of those random Minecraft videos and animations on youtube. There's a ton of Undertale ones too.

Another good one is Battle Network's "talking" button. If you press the L button Mega Man (or Lan, depending on who you're playing as) will tell you what you're supposed to be doing.

Dragon Quest VII has a similar thing too.

Nearly every Dragon Quest has that... the tlking button thing.

Somewhat related, but I myself have been browsing through a lot of DC animated stuff as of late.

Like for instance, tonight I've been doing so when it comes to Amazo from Justice League Unlimited. Definitely prefer that Amazo over the comic one. And not just because his design is much better and he's pretty damn overpowered for some reason.
