Undertale is pretty viral, but it doesn't same the same genre as Minecraft or Fortnite.

I mean, RPGs are pretty niche compared to survival or FPS games

This is a bit of both of opinion and fact in one. So take this whatever you will.

Sometimes niche can be a term to be easily misused. RPGs from what I have checked and sales wise, aren't niche since you have games like Pokémon and Final Fantasy that are like the big titles when it comes to RPGs and JRPGs. And then you have survival and GPS games which while they are viral now, it is still niche since it is cater those younger adults to professional gamers.

So I get that people will call some genres niche because due to its popularity and sales, but from what I personally understand it is what the genre caters to matters.

As of that post I hadn't bothered checking. As long as I'm still sitting on Grima he's hilariously unlikely to get used.

However I did at least check afterwards and he's got a suboptimal but okay +DEF / -HP. Don't really like fiddling with his bulk in both directions like that, but it's workable. He can warm the bench while I figure it out.

What Eph would need to come off the bench, besides some merges, is a way to differentiate him from Grima. I'm not sure how or if I'd like to go about that yet, but I probably won't unless the next few brave banner pulls are especially kind to him.

Every RPG should have the flashback thing Pokemon FireRed had so you could remember what you were doing.

Another good one is Battle Network's "talking" button. If you press the L button Mega Man (or Lan, depending on who you're playing as) will tell you what you're supposed to be doing.

Dragon Quest VII has a similar thing too.

Understandable that you would want to keep Grima though.

I've looked it up and down and still only really come to "maybe."

Setting aside my dragon bias - and even moreso the fact that Grima's already there, built, and merged - Eph's guaranteed doubles on the player phase (since he'll almost always have friends beefing him up) doesn't really outweigh Grima's adaptive damage and built-in DC in my eyes. I'm generally using an enemy phase strategy anyway, so unless I want to double down on some kind of Armor March set to rush them in, there's not a lot Eph accomplishes here that Grima wouldn't as well. Not to mention Armor Emblem's still a popular arena choice, and Grima opens tin cans all day.

The points you've listed work equally well on any green armor; Garm needs it to get dangerous, but buffs have been the backbone of every X Emblem team since time immemorial and Armor Emblem's no exception.

The "maybe" comes if something down the road changes my mind. As it stands, it's just a no.

However I'm reluctant to fodder him off as well, at least for now, so he's safe on the bench.

God I hope not.

Song's fire, environment is nicely varied, atmosphere is top notch, and the transition deeper into the level as you get closer to the ground is just a thing I've always enjoyed. Plus those top things are great once you get the hang of them, and once you do you have some pretty wide open environments to play in.

I'll grant you that it got a bunch of scrappy mechanics though. Oil, smashers, truly heinous amounts of spikes, that drill boss dropping **** on you from the ceiling...

By far the best version of this trope I've ever seen is Radiant Historia.

Since it involves TIME TRAVEL.
If you ever forget what you were doing, you can time travel to any point within the story marked with specific plot points to show you exactly what has happened between each checkpoint. Not only that, you can travel back to that point and continue forward as per usual.

I have a feeling that second banner that will last a month will be the Halloween banner for this year. Seasonal banners usually last that long, and they might be pushing the Halloween banner for that time since the one last year happened after Halloween iirc.

Hearing that possibility regarding what the next New Heroes banner could be reminds me of what I personally speculated for from a potential Fates Nohr banner a while back. It sure takes me back:

For the new Fire Emblem banner coming out later this week (and will probably be revealed tomorrow), I have a feeling it might be another Fates banner, only it'll be Conquest themed to follow-up from the Hoshido themed banner we just got.

For this Conquest banner, I predict we'll see another special variant of Camilla (that will surely make people mad just like the controversial reactions we got from Kinshi Hinoka and Bow Lyn #2) since she's Hinoka's counterpart. My guess for what IS could do for this new Camilla is to make her a Sorcerer to reference her secondary class. While she can use Magic as a Malig Knight, her Malig Knight form in Heroes already has her using her Axe, so that's why I think she'll probably just be an infantry magic user for this new variant.

As for the other characters, I can imagine Silas would be added since he is Kaze's Nohrian counterpart. As for the children (seeing how the Hoshido banner did it), I think Dwyer could make a decent pick seeing that Jakob is in the game, and we'd get more healers that way. Perhaps IS will finally add normal Charlotte in this banner similar to how the Hoshido banner finally added normal Shigure when he was originally released as a special variant. I also hope Flora would finally be added to complete the maid/butler trio from Fates, and she'd make a fitting GHB for the occasion (since she was an enemy unit in all three Fates routes).

So in total, the hypothetical Norman banner could look something like this:
-Infantry Blue-mage Camilla (blue just to complete the trio, but that one is a personal pick_
-Mounted healer Dwyer
-Infantry Axe-user Charlotte
-Infantry Dagger-user Flora (GHB)
-Mounted Sword/Lance-unit Silas (either Tempest Trials or Conquest award)

For me, I don't think I'd be interested in pulling from that banner except for Charlotte (though if she doesn't get the right skills and stat distribution, I'd probably just avoid her).

I wouldn't mind it, just as long as we Charlotte and Silas are among the units and Flora is the GHB.

I've also heard speculation that the New Heroes banner spanning from 9/14-10/9 could also be the introduction of the beast units. I can see it (I still think the other New Heroes banner that will come after this one is the Seasonal banner). The new GHB could be one of those beast units, but I wonder which beast-unit would make a fitting GHB. Maybe one of the Laguz?

I just hope Kaden is among those first batch of new beast units.

EDIT: Oh wait, I just noticed that third New Heroes banner that starts from October and lasts until November. Okay, that one might be Halloween banner now that I look at it.
