Phantom Hourglass is pretty good (and Linebeck is great) but didn't click with me the same way Wind Waker did. I'm honestly mostly blaming this on how tiring it is to have go through the Temple of the Ocean King fifty million times. Spirit Tracks felt better to me overall, it's a solid entry in the franchise. Though the instrument mechanics are also frustrating in their own right. That's my only issue with it.

On that note, when do I get to see Tetra playable in Ultimate? :p
In your dreams probably.

The real injustice in Hyrule Warriors is that Groose was never made playable.

o3o Like this? xD Also heck, I didn't expected or I didn't know tetra used a flintlock pistol. It would look pretty brutal if she shots someone in the head.
I can always hope....

I've s een some arguments that she could still incorporate it into her moveset even without the HW-water element aspects, by having the shots being more "cartoony". Nothing realistic or violent, Snake couldn't use guns of his own in Smash because of that. I think it could work, personally.

In your dreams probably.
........Sadly probably true.

But my hope shall never vanish!

Phantom Hourglass ****s on all other Zelda games simply because it has Linebeck

Onimusha getting a re-release overshadowed the Indie Direct stuff for me. Mostly because the Messanger only got a brief mention. THAT game looks really fun.

It still counts cause he’s literally a copy paste of PH Linebeck.
No, he's not. Like, I'm serious here, comparing Linebeck to his grandson makes no sense when the latter is just a random NPC while the former is the most well-written character in Zelda history
So therefore........ Phantom Hourglass doesn't actually **** on anything, then. :V
No, what I mean is that Shigeru's parents saved gaming by banging.

My first Zelda game was either Ocarina of Time or Wind Waker. Neither of those two are what I'd consider to be my favorite Zelda game, but I have alot of appreciation for them being two of the five games in particular that made Nintendo Gamecube (I played OoT on Collector's Edition) special and my favorite console.

I don't know what happened that made me stop paying attention to the Zelda series years ago, but now I definitely miss being a fan alot. This recent Zelda craving of mine is of the reasons I decided to pick up my 3DS again. I'm definitely going for every Zelda game on the 3DS eShop since that's all I have left. I'll most definitely be happy knowing that also means I'll be able to go back to Majora's Mask again.

I wish I played more LoZ games. I've only played 1, 2, Ocarina, and A Link to the Past...and I haven't finished any of them.

I've had this tendency where I would pretty much almost 100% the game but I either missed this one thing I can't go back to/can't track where it was or I just forget about it and eventually never complete it.

xD You at least got to play more than I did! When I wanted to play Majora's Mask my old as **** computer always crashed (since I got it in a emulator LONG ago thanks to my older sibling, but since it failed, I got to play Rayman 2 instead and got to know the character), I played Ocarina of Time but I got confused as heck and frustrated by the Water Temple. The only one I have ever finished and re-played is Twilight Princess, saving my favorite bossfights in each slot (Stallord, Zant and Ganondorf), I still freakin' love the game, Link and Midna's interactions and the ending always gets me to tears.

Well aside from getting all of the perfect endings and checking out the bad endings, I've finished DDLC Purist Mod.

I liked Monika's Route but also didn't like it. It's weird.

It's made apparent from the beginning of the mod that the game serves as a psuedo-sequel to the original game. Although you go through the original game's Act 1 again for each route, you have a short scene with Monika upon first booting up the game that clarifies that she still remembers what happened in the original game. So she has those memories all throughout.

Monika's route is only unlocked if you get at least the good ending on all other routes, or if you enter the Konami Code on the title screen. So her route serves as a "Last Story" of sorts.

Once either of those conditions are met, you can start a new game and the first line of dialogue will offer a branch.

"-just like any other" is the line from the original game that will let you go down Sayori, Natsuki, or Yuri's route again if you want, while "-but something feels different" will allow you to start Monika's route.

You will play Act 1 again but it's different. As if to imply the other three girls retained their experiences with you from their routes despite the game being reset, Sayori seems to have her depression under control and seems genuinely happy (for example, at the very start, instead of catching up to you in a rush, she's on time and asks if you're proud of her for getting up early and being on time lately), Natsuki is a bit calmer and less-standoffish, and Yuri doesn't stutter as much and seems more confident in herself. You still play the poem game, but it doesn't matter what you pick as Sayori, Natsuki, and Yuri will always give a neutral response even if every word you pick is one they like. Monika will resonate more than usual though. There are other things like it will use Purist Mod's original soundtrack even in Act 1 (in the other routes, it still uses the original DDLC OST for the the original game's Act 1), and Monika being the one to diffuse Natsuki and Yuri's argument.

One other little detail is that sometimes Monika will deviate from her normal, happy facial expressions in Act 1 even while others are speaking, looking at you with displeasure or staring off to the side dejectedly.

This was probably my favourite part of the route, because it sort of gave me the feeling of playing the original game's Act 2 again. Not as horror-centric and anxiety inducing, obviously, but it was fun spotting the little differences. It was also refreshing because the other routes leave Act 1 completely unchanged, and while I played through it completely for Sayori's route to reacquaint myself with the game, I basically skipped it for the other two. So it was nice to give it's existence real value here.

However, it's when you get to the festival preparation weekend that it starts to go into the completely original stuff. Sayori doesn't go home early and suggests that Natsuki and Yuri come to her house so they can all work together on their preparations, leaving you with the chance to have Monika come to your house. In the middle of her visit, she will have an outburst and tell MC that nothing is real and not only is it a game, but a mod of said game. From that point, it's pretty repetitive and is just about a constant back and forth between Monika being genuinely happy about things only to start being sad when she remembers it's all a game. And you're basically trying to get her to see that even if the game ends and the game isn't real, her feelings are real and she can take good memories back to the original game and find happiness this way. And by the time the game does end both literally and figuratively, you've helped her accomplish this.

I personally thought her route didn't build off anything established about her in the original game, and if anything, took a less nuanced lens towards it. I get that it's optimistic and it wants to be but the other routes achieved this while adding additional layers to the characters and building off what was established about them in the original game. This might be a side effect of the original game allowing you to explore Monika's character so deeply in Act 3, but still, I thought they could have done more. The playthrough goes on way too long for what it's doing, it shouldn't have been any longer than Yuri's, the Act 1 stuff not withstanding.

Additionally, the issue I had with a CG in Natsuki's route broke the credits for me as the game wants to load it up here, so I didn't see the credits, and the game reset completely and wiped my save file as a result. I don't know if the save wipe is meant to happen but yeah I can't even go back to watch the credits now.

But here's Monika's CG.

My first Zelda game was the first, as far as playing it goes. Technically, it was both the first game, Zelda II, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask.

The reason: as a kid, I got this as a Christmas gift along with some other games, and a Gamecube itself.

Does anyone else here remember owning this special little bundle? It's because of this (and my family) that I discovered what would become my favorite video game franchise, period. It also introduced me to the Wind Waker (via a demo version) and provided me with footage of every other Zelda game that had released up to that point in time.

I was so amazed with everything I saw as a kid. I could play four of them, and loved what I had. But I also wanted to play them all; especially a complete Wind Waker. Man, just thinking about it really takes me back. Wind Waker, Zelda in general, the entire Gamecube era, etc. Everything this collector's edition had to show was so new and incredible to me at the time, I hadn't seen anything like it before.

Later on Brawl informed me Twilight Princess' existence, and I loved it, too. It was some time after playing Brawl that I started following news about my favorite games and the companies behind them more actively, Zelda included. But I digress lol. The nostalgia is real right now.

Oh I remember that bundle. Zelda 1 was also my first game and I enjoyed Zelda 2.

How can it be the best if it never happened? :p
I mean, neither did Majora’s Mask.

Termina is a world created by Skull Kid using the power of Majora's Mask based on his own memories and wishful thinking/imagination (a la Koholint Island), hence the similarities between Hyrule and Termina. The Giants, also created by the mask, are the representations of the spirits that Skull Kid had a deep connection with, but left. The dawn of the new day is pretty much a reflection on Skull Kid's mental state when he accepted that people can still be friends even if they are far apart. Since Skull Kid is now happy and the mask is rid of all evil power, the moment Link leaves Termina the land ceases to exist.

Yo...

https://old.reddit.com/r/smashbros/...ur_favourite_character_doesnt_get_into_smash/

This hits a little too close to home for me. Makes me pretty uncomfortable.
The post makes it seem like if they aren't in Smash now, they never will. Ultimate will likely be the last Smash game for many characters, and for some, possibly their first and last. But there will always be newcomers.

There's still plenty of characters available to use, mostly looking at the Assist Trophies. Krystal, Waluigi, Ashley and more are all look pretty likely next time around, assuming the next Smash isn't a hard reboot. Even then, some still have a shot.

Older characters who have yet to make it in Smash, even as Assist Trophies, are where things look more bleak. Next Smash will likely downsize from Ultimate, with plenty of cuts to make room for newcomers. The more it downsizes, the worse things get for those characters. But to make it so that if they aren't in Smash now, they never will, I find to be a bit of an exaggeration.

Well, consider the following.

The next Smash will most likely be a hard reboot of the franchise with overhauled gameplay and just a much different feel to the Smash we know of today. I'm also willing to bet the roster will cap of at 30 or 40 characters as well and will mostly feature veterans.
So unless you're one of the Original 12 (and poor :ultjigglypuff: isn't immune mind you, possibly even :ultfalcon::ultness: as well), :ultmarth:,:ultpit:,:ultinkling:, someone from a big, notable Nintendo franchise (i.e. your :ultpeach::ultzelda::ultbowser::ultganondorf: 's of the world), then your spot in Smash is in jeopardy with roster cuts like that. And that goes double for characters from smaller, lesser known series unless "muh relevancy" comes in to play for them. Newcomes will be primarily characters coming from new IP's with little room for popular characters.

What exactly is the argument of "Smash HAS to reboot!"? I mean, the gimmick is that everyone's coming back just this once. Even newcomers like Simon or Ridley may suffer the fate of the axe once 6 rolls around.
