Once, there was an ugly barnacle. He was so ugly, that everyone who saw him died on the spot. This made it hard to make a positive difference in the community, as any potential employers dropped at the start of the interview. He would lay desolation to any town he passed through, bearing no ill will, but with no way to stop it. He eventually learned to wear a hood over his face to protect the innocent citizens, but he still couldn’t get any job, as employers would insist on seeing his face - something he couldn’t bring himself to allow.

Wallowing in self-pity, he roamed the streets and lived off of welfare until he was 30. At that age, though, he had an idea: what if he used his uniquely extreme ugliness to fight crime? So, five minutes later, he was at the bank, where he kept watch day in and day out. As luck would have it - or perhaps misfortune - there was a robbery to stop just five days after his watch had begun. The ugly barnacle simply lowered his hood, and the robber, fleeing the bank, had a heart attack right there. However, as the robber had the attention of most everyone in the bank, most everyone suffered the same fate, as the ugly barnacle had mindlessly positioned himself by the glass doors for his watch.

Briefly overcome by grief and shock at what he had done, the ugly barnacle considered going into hiding and never visiting the public again. However, looking at the dropped bag of money, he suddenly realized that by playing his cards right, he could get whatever he wanted without endangering all sentient life. Thus, his life descended into one of crime.

He was invincible. Nobody could stop him without seeing him, and nobody could see him without suffering death. He initially wore his hood on his visits to Wal-Mart, but then he found that he did not care for the lives of the workers, so he strode in and cut the lives of everyone inside.

The ugly barnacle lived lavishly for the next year, killing wantonly, no longer caring. He traveled across the world, acquiring souvenirs and enviable experiences. He had everything a man could want in life, or so he thought. It was only when his power shut out that he realized what he had done, and just how lonely he was.

He was so ugly, that everyone died. The end.
"That didn't help at all!"

I think that's the problem with these so-called revolutionary media pieces, it's hard to see what impact they made when we live in a world after their influence has already become the norm. For me, all I'm seeing is a really good movie, not the second coming of Jesus.

though I'll stand by the fact Ocarina is overrated until my dying breath
These "so-called" revolutionary pieces of media haven't just become the norm. They established the norm.

It is not difficult to see the impact of GITS at all. You can see its fingerprints all over the entire Cyberpunk genre and beyond. The Matrix is at times a shot-for-shot remake. Spielberg cited it as an influence on the design of A.I. James Cameron cites it as a major influence on Avatar, of all things. Altered Carbon owes its entire existence to Gits. Its design language is recursive, too. It was heavily inspired by Blade Runner, and Blade Runner 2049 in turn lifted heavily from it.

This is before we even get into how much of an impact it had on anime in general, which is something I'm not as qualified to discuss but which is plainly obvious in shows like Ergo Proxy or Psycho Pass.

Cultural impact is a huge factor in what makes something a masterpiece. Media doesn't exist in a vacuum.

And I won't even dignify your opinion of OoT with a response.

Quick question.

When you're watching YouTube videos from like, gaming channels or something, do you prefer:

-No Intro
-Short Intro (5 seconds or less, generally just a spinning logo or something)
-Long Intro (10 seconds or more)

And additionally, if it's a long or short intro, do you like the exact same one every time, or little variations that maybe reflect the subject of a particular video (different music or background)?

I'm fine with any length. Haven't ran across one I felt like it was obnoxious or too long. And I usually prefer the same one every time.

Either works for me. Game Theory's intro is decently lengthy, but it's a catchy opening. Meanwhile GameGrumps has a very quick jingle, but it still feels right.

Basically length is negotiable depending on how catchy the intro is. Just don't do those circa-2008 30 second intros made in Windows Movie Maker and you should be fine. :p

You don't even need to be good to be influential, but sometimes, something succeeds at its core goal so well that it's influential by default. To do it any other way is like trying to invent the wheel.

People loved robots before Gits and they'd love robots in a world without it. Whether OoT existed or not, eventually someone would figure out how to make 3D combat engaging.

But sometimes the right person gets the right idea at the right time, and they knock it out of the park on the first swing. Because they're a master at their craft, and they've just crafted a masterpiece.

I feel like I was being a bit too cynical earlier. I was mostly venting out of the frustration that I was still harboring with SEGA heroes'...entire existence. I do genuinely want SEGA to do good with its properties if it does ultimately decide to revive some properly. Like, I'd totally be down with a return of Streets Of Rage, or Comix Zone 2, or a second Billy Hatcher, or hell, a new Jet Set Radio.

Or Wild Woody 2

Kids play Call of Duty, Fortnite and Splatoon.
Men play TF2.
No bruh, Splatoon is for men while Cod is for kids lol.

Fortnite is for those who wants to get quick fame lol, nah just kidding.

I recently watch PlayerEssence video about should Nintendo really just make powerful console? I personally agree with his opinion but I do see some think otherwise that Nintendo should keep their creativity on their games and not on their console.

Just curious what do you guys think? I personally agree that Nintendo is better at doing what they are doing now, but I do wish them stick to the industry standards from time to, which they actually are with the Nintendo Switch, sort of.

You people don't actually say "top of the morning" do ya?
Not typically, you might hear it on occasion though from older people or people who are in a really hearty mood.

Lads/laddies is used all the time though.

Exclusives are the only reason I have a Switch and PS4, since I can just play literally everything else on my PC. Just so happens that Nintendo's first-party games look amazing in spite of the hardware they run on, so I'm neutral on whether or not they should make a more powerful console.
The only thing I want them to get with the industry on is their online service. I'm still going to pay for it because $20 a year is a drop in the bucket compared to many other yearly subscriptions, but their online is still back in 2006 compared to the other consoles.
Why are we still using friend codes in 2018?
Why do their online games have no built-in voice chat?
Why are they still using peer-to-peer instead of dedicated servers for most of their online games? (excluding Smash and Mario Tennis, games that work well with P2P)
AND WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE DELAY-BASED P2P INSTEAD OF ROLLBACK P2P?

I'm kind of annoyed with the movie theater in my area. I'd like to watch the new Mission Impossible, but it's only being shown in the ultra-expensive format for now (so 2D tickets are about $15 each, and 3D tickets are about $17 each) I was hoping that they'd bump it down to regular theaters after a week, but no such luck there, and looking at the release schedule for August, it will probably stay in those theaters for a while yet.

At least it's not a case like Avengers Infinity War, where it needs to be seen ASAP or the entire internet will collectively spoil it.

Friend Codes are fine honestly.

They let me use and change usernames whenever I want and honestly what's the difference between adding someone by name and adding someone by number?
