Probably either Crash 2 or Uncharted 2, I loved how both of them surpassed the original game in almost every way, and both of them are my favourites from their respective franchises.

Chaos Emeralds.

They give you a different power based on the colour.

Some examples could be slowing down time, teleportation, a Smart Bomb effect (aka Chaos Blast), and maybe more.

I dunno if they could come up with one for all seven so there could be just three or four, but it could be neat.

Also Tonics from Fire Emblem could be a good one. They could be really rare and give you permanent stat boosts until the end of the match, again based on colour. It would be a nice way of introducing Smash Run-esque mechanics into normal fights.

Oh, I have one.

Remember Cappy right? While him not being part of Mario's moveset can be understanble, knowing when Ultimate started developpement, I still felt like it Cappy's possession ability could be really interesting, if perhaps hard to implement on a character's moveset.

So, my ideas was, the Bonneter - Cappy race - could be a item that spawn that, once taken, could be throw into opponent. And if succeful, the person who throw the hat would possess the opponent for a short amount of time, allowing them to do anything they want with their opponent's character, like suicide! :D (tho, it take the life of the possessor)

If the hat doesn't reach anyone however, it will come back to the one that throw them for another try, for up to 3 throw. Afterward, if the hat doesn't reach anyone after the third throw, the hat will just go into the shadow realm.

That's my idea atleast, 'hope you like it.

I would love to see a tornado which sucks up items and opponents and throws them.
