Huh, I actually had a thought on basically the best way to counter every person who is against equal marriage, cause the way they read their religion is to not have same-sex marriage.

Simply tell them, give up all the tax incentives and other benefits the government guarantees to married couple. That'd hopefully shut them up, since one thing marriage does actually do, is make it so your partner can't get cut out of your will, if your parents and siblings hated them.

I tried to stay out of this stupid convo, because no one here is going to convince the opposing side to look at it their way. But everyone should drop it at this point. Because this is gonna get the thread into "YIKES" territory real quick.

Because again, this is just a video game forum site, the only times we should be at each other's throats is talking about who's tastes in games is the best. Which is mine of course.

I'm not at anyone's throat, all I have done is state my opinion on the subject.

Also, this isn't a video game thread, it's a social thread, that means we can talk about anything as long as it's not illegal, against the rules, and everyone remains civil.

Do you read the stuff you write? Jfc, are you realising what you're saying? "Someone who you thought was a girl only to find out they're a guy" this is trying to justify literal transphobic rhetoric fearmingering that "trans women/men aren't real women/men"

This is the thing about trying to discuss anything with you, you blow everything out of proportion and infer a completely different meaning from what I actually said.

When I say "someone you thought was a girl but was actually a guy", I'm talking about a person's sex, not gender. There's nothing transphobic about that because someone does not even have to be transgender or transexual for this to happen. Such a situation is already incredibly rare IRL, like I said, but the concept is used a lot in fiction for drama and/or comic effect. If you turned someone down based on their gender, or specifically because they are transexual or transgender, that's a different story. But the concept of sexuality is removed from that. If you're a heterosexual, you are only attracted to those of the opposite sex, and if you're homosexual, only those of the same sex, and so on. If you turn someone down for not fitting under those sexual preferences, regardless of whether they are trans or not, that does not and should not make you transphobic, because all you are doing is adhering to your own sexual identity. Keep in mind homosexuals have had to actually fight for (and still do) the right to be able to do that. I don't think it's right to suddenly demonise people for following their own sexual identity. Some people sacrifice their sexual identity for the sake of a person they love, because they value the person more than the sexual activity with said person, and those people are wonderful. However, I don't think you're an awful person for not doing this.

Turning down someone BECAUSE they are trans though? That's transphobic. Whether it's your girlfriend telling you he identifies as a he even though they are still biologically female, or a one night stand who turns out to be a male-to-female transexual. Those situations do not conflict with your sexuality at all, so if you're turning them down, it's because they are trans, which makes you transphobic.

Funny enough, I wasnt even offened,I I just laughed it off because, one, I found it pretty funny personaly. Just corrected him and moved on and two, I had other things to worry about at that time

Everyone is talking about Octopath and I'm over here playing Ys VIII.

I definitely like it so far. The combat is enjoyable and if you aren't paying attention at times you can get hurt pretty bad... although this game has the Breath of the Wild quirk where at any moment you can pause and fast-travel to somewhere on the map so you're never -really- in danger outside of mandatory boss fights.

Exploring the island, growing "Castaway Village", is the best part about it. Discovery and growth go hand-in-hand fairly well. Subsequently, any flaws come from interruptions to that. The game has periods where it kinda loses me, like any time I have to leave the area and characters I've been working on to play the Dana segments. The whole Nameless Ripper segment was a distraction I didn't enjoy, which is surprising because the idea of having a serial killer on an island is a good recipe for my tastes, but it just stuck out like a sore thumb amidst the usual routine.

The soundtrack is very fun, I feel like I should point out.

Also for the record, Hummel is a beast and my favorite to play as. His character is a mixed bag though. He's really cool and principled but... also dumbfounding and he also leaves the party for a while and in RPGs that sucks, especially if you were playing them and investing in them the most.

I'd get Ys 8, but....well, everything surrounding NISA's handling of the localization(and the PC port) has kinda tempered my enthusiasm for it.
