I'm not saying my nation is perfect, far from it, but are you actually gonna ***** about being people patriotic about their country on a day specifically for it? Something we tend to exaggerate on which is part of the fun.

Because it's only on July 4th when I see people complain.

I'm only complaining because it was brought up, if anyone is to blame for this discussion is the people idolizing this piece of a **** country.
There's nothing wrong about loving your own country but everything has a limit and this one is when people start ignoring historical facts in favor of glorifying this perfectly false image.

I am not saying that Europe is a billion times better and that the US is trash.

I find it hard to take any of your complaints seriously when you describe the US as a piece of a **** country and keep making generalisations about people being blind patriots and that your methods of trying to educate people involves calling others idiots and telling people to shut up.

There's a way to go about things properly and your way isn't it.

First it's unnecessary fetish discussion that won't die, and now yet another fiery political debate. Just another reminder to not let things get out of hand, please. I've said this before and I will say it again if I have to.

On that note, I wanted to let you all know that I will be less active for the next few days. I'm going on break from moderation and being an active user on here in general. I have some real life stuff going on right now with working at a camp along with meeting up with loved ones for the next few days, so if you want to chat then PMing me would be the best way. Besides, I need a break from this site in general. I'm exhausted in general right now and I need more time away from this site, and social media in general.

You can bring up issues with that without being bratty or with a passive aggressive attitude.

Sure, call a whole country a piece of ****, then get mad when people from that place don't like that.

I think Shish was being sarcastic when he said shut up. Kinda in a joking way.

And while that's not true about the entire US population, it's still true about 40-45% of the population who blindly follow what Trump says.

I studied world and American history in university and have a BA in the field. Every nation has its pro and cons as well as unique lens to view history through. It’s always important to study history objectively. The problem, I have often found, is the lack of this proper education in schools of America.

However, there are always good people to be found and would argue that, despite gross attrocities, the US has also played a positive role in world history as well.

Anyways, I did get so see some nice looking fireworks outside my house.

Can't wait for the two weeks after where people still have fireworks going off.
