should be tagged for EVERYTHING relevant in this image.
*squees internally*
I see no junk here. I see good things.
You know my thoughts on dice. Dice is nice. Does look better paired in person though.
The squidkid manga kinda disappoints me kinda doesn't for some reason, can't put my finger on why. Liked book two a lot more than book one (and had more time to sit down with book two), so maybe it was just an expectations vs. reality thing. Kind of wish they could go slightly more into their day-to-day lives rather than so much turf war, but hey, focus is what the focus is.
Fun light read though. Like the extra materials especially, they dive more into everyone's little personality quirks and snippets and I'm a sucker for that.
Also you're reminding me how long it's been since I got to fiddle around with a drink umbrella and that's an honest shame. June ain't far off though, I'm sure I can correct that.
ah, well honestly, starbound lore is extremely workable, they give you a blank idea of background, and then from there, you work with anything :V
its honestly flexible, in my opinion just spend like 15-30 minutes top understanding the idea and background between the races, then make up your own **** about them, because there isn't anything really sediment there
and they expand universe wide, not all have the same history
its made to make up your own **** dude
I know it's pretty workable, but there's a lot packed in little offhand comments and things, and I really want to know it all before I get going proper.
Did you know Hylotl have multiple hearts? Apparently they do (I'm still working out why, a task I assume will be left to me). But unless you play as one and go scanning Avian banners on a Grounded airship (or bring a crew member along and get immensely lucky when they comment on it), you'd never know.
Also while they diverge greatly, their cultural identity for the most part does not, only really diverging into one of two main categories based on whether they'd be player/crew or not. Tribal Floran vs. more peaceful Floran (like you'd find in ships and stations). Kluex-worshipping Avian vs. Grounded. Self-aware Glitch versus non-self-aware Glitch. Miniknog versus Rebels.
Hylotl and Novakids are basically the same everywhere - the former retain the same culture whether they're above or below water, the latter only have one culture to speak of. Humans are the most diverse, if you consider things like the USMC and Occasus Cult to be differing identities for humanity versus the Protectorate or the exorbitant number of nomads in space.
But every faction above has their own little quirks and foibles, and while their history is painted in broad strokes I like to delve a little deeper and try to understand where these people - and thus my characters - are coming from. Much of that in turn dictates how my characters would behave, at least to a point.
I'm looking to compile that with the framework of A.Z. Price, and for a bonus treat I get to write a pompous, loquacious, bumbling xenologist for the trouble. But I can't compile what I ain't got.
For now though I think that leaves me mostly at "things subject to change."
At least there'd be custom Emoji, though.
Now
that I can do.
