I caved in and bought this too.

After hearing some of the music I just had to (and watching some gameplay of course.)

EDIT: I KEEP FORGETTING...... The game is Spark the Electric Jester.
So, does anyone else play the Pokémon TCG currently? Thoughts on the 2 Japanese sub sets Dragon Storm and Champion Road? The return of Fight Song Altaria is pretty damn cool. Also I've seen an interesting Reshiram GX/Infernape idea thrown around.
I'm always on the cusp of getting deep into it, but never do.

Last time I played was uhh for a week like 2 years ago when TCGOnline came out. I might still get into it for real one day but there's no real local scene for it here, all everyone plays is MTG and Yugioh.

The vast majority of Unovan mons are forgettable. However, it was a nice decision to give every type one or two 3-stage lines.
They should do that more.

One-stage lines are just kinda boring.

And we haven't had split evos since Gen 5 I think.

Bleh, I still can't agree with this, but to each their own I suppose.

Excuse me!? Unova has most of the best pokemon!

Honestly, I'd argue that both methods of producing Pokemon have their pros.
Gen V and Gen VII actually have my two favorite sets of Pokemon, despite taking pretty different approaches to how they designed Pokemon for the region.

Now that I think about it, it's pretty damn funny how Garbodor is a big deal in the TCG, yet it's a laughing stock outside of it. It has an ability that shuts off all other Pokémon abilities when it has a tool on it, which is a pretty big deal in the game.

You have my sword. Not a fan of Gen 5 Pokemon overall, weakest designs of the series for me.

Quite a few of my favorites are from Gen V as well.

Chandelure is definitely one of my all time favorite Pokemon.

I'm sorry, but this is just flat out wrong. A few of them are awesome (Zoroark, Eelektross) but then you have blatant copycats (Alomomola, Audino), uninspired designs (Vanillish, Klink), and weird, uh, enigmas (Gothitelle, Reuniclus).
They should do that more.

One-stage lines are just kinda boring.

Other than Cosmoem, no Pokemon from Gens 5, 6, or 7 have a true split evolution. Espurr and Rockruff are close, but they evolve into different versions of the same Pokemon.

You can't just call someone's opinions "wrong".
That's not how opinions work.

Personally, I quite like Vanilluxe, Klink, and Reuniclus. I don't find them to be that bad at all.
I remember falling in love with Klink the moment I saw it, and I decided to use it on my final team.

  • Vanillite

  • Vanilluxe
  • Golett
  • Golurk
  • Vullaby
  • Mandibuzz
  • Phantump

Gens 1 and 5 had my favorite pokedexes by far. At least until Alola. Always thought ti was funny how people always point to either gen 1 or 5 to prove some point or another and I love both. :p

Alola's pokedex was too dark.
Like did they have to make Shark finning a thing in Pokemon?

Can't say I agree, a number of my favorite Pokémon hail from that generation and I still like quite a few outside of those. There are some forgettable ones, but the ones I like still make up much more then just the small minority.

I do agree that it was great that they had a variety of three stage lines as it added a lot of choice to the options you had. It's one of the things I miss from the past two generations since they lean a lot more towards smaller lines.

Alomomola and Luvdisc aren't even based on the same fish though. I was so happy to get a sunfish Pokémon.

Gen V had some great designs. Samurott, Unfezant's whole line, Whimsicott, Sawsbuck, Sawk and Throh, Chandelure, Crustle, Reuniclus, Cobalion, Stoutland, Cinccino, Cryogonal, Beheeyem, and Golurk are some of my favorite designs, and I even love Emboar.

Would be nice to see more Ice and Steel types because I think we're lacking in them for the TCG. Dark and Fairy too

Gen 4 is probably my least favorite overall? But at the same time, it's got some of my top favorites like Lucario, Luxray and Giratina.

TLDR, I like all generations.

Okay, let's do something kinda fun: list the first Pokémon game you played, and who your first starter was.

First Game: Ruby
Starter: Torchic
first game: red
starter: squritle

funny enough it wasn't because i wanted him, i have two brothers and they played first and just simply on the conscious do something different, kyler took charmander and konnie took bulbasaur, so i was left with squirtle

Everybody always uses Voltorb as an example of crappy gen 1 designs. Those people are wrong.

Emboar is actually my second favourite final stage fire starter.

Gen 5's Pokemon designs are on the lower end for me. There are some great designs like Chandelure, Haxorus, Meloetta, Reshiram, Bisharp, Hydreigon, Serperior, Zebstrika, Cobalion, and several others I'm forgetting, but then about a good chunk about are very "eh" to me. Then it has a solid chunk that makes me roll my eyes like Vanilluxe, Garbodor, Thundurus Therian Forme, Kyurem's base form, Emboar, the elemental monkeys, and some others.

I'd still say generation 5's designs were better than generations 1 and 2.

Okay, let's do something kinda fun: list the first Pokémon game you played, and who your first starter was.

First Game: Ruby
Starter: Torchic
First game: Ruby
Starter: Mudkip

Mudkip still remains one of my most nostalgic Pokemon, and its final evolution is one of my favorite Pokemon around.
