No, I don't think.

In fact, I think the game sold pretty decently, if not better, but I am not entirely sure.

What I am sure tho, is that the game recieve great reviews all around, so, that count I guess.

Lets be fair here. It was released towards the end of the 3DS' lifecycle (well relatively speaking because that system isn't lasting longer than 2019) so you can't blame it too much.

Almost like Golden Sun: Dark Dawn that was released at the tail end of the DS' lifecycle.

To put it loosely...

VGChartz lists it at 450K...but that's not taking digital sales into consideration...which Nintendo's fiscal sales does...

Seeing that it's not listed as a million seller under the 3DS games does indicate that it hasn't sold at least a million (obviously)...which is disappointing, but with that said as someone who's very much invested in the series I'd still like to know more or less how well it actually did...

With that said, I don't think it's too much of a big deal for the game to not do so well as expected since there are many factors playing against it, such as probably the biggest being that it's released on the 3DS (pretty much a dying system) instead of the Switch...it definitely would've done a lot better on the system more people are interested in...

Nothing indicates that it did. In the yearly NPD, it was ahead of evergreen titles like Mario Kart 7, which we see is still capable of selling 1M per fiscal year, as well as other non-Pokemon titles released in the year like SoV (which also had the developers saying they were happy with it). Nintendo has also always suggested it had 'firm sales', which implies they were happy with it.

The only thing we were missing were official and concrete sales numbers, but unfortunately since it seems it hasn't sold a million yet, we missed our only chance to hear something about it aside from Nintendo or MercurySteam commenting on it in the future.

- Smash Bros is 2018
- Fire Emblem Switch is still 2018
- Yoshi Switch is still 2018
- Pokemon Switch is "2018 or later"
- Bayonetta 3 is TBA
- Metroid Prime 4 is TBA

"2018 or later" makes me think it's gonna be before the fiscal year ends, so it could still be very early 2019.

Man they really want to rush out Pokémon for Christmas don’t they? They really shouldn’t if it’s not ready. Yet we have all these insiders talking about it like it’s coming sooner than later. Xenoblade 1 also got ported into every consoles possible. Without any visual improvements or gameplay improvements for that matter, the dev wanted to keep the quality of the original game intact.
