What system is X8 on?
It's on PS2 and PC.
Looks like I got beat to it. Those are the systems that it's on.It's on PS2, PC, and the Japanese PSN Store.
It's kinda sad I feel X8 is grossly overlooked by everyone.Looks like I got beat to it. Those are the systems that it's on.
I would place the game slightly above X3. I think it's pretty good overall, but falls a little short on level design in comparison to X1, X2 and X4. But Mega Man X8 makes for it a bit with the tons of interesting mechanics in it, and some decent weapons to use. Just using this as a way to gauge your expectations. Though obviously, there's no way to ensure you'll like it anyhow.
They added a LOT of stuff in this one.
- Mixing and Matching Armors for Mega Man X. Basically, two armors, a red one and a blue one give various upgrades. The red armor is mostly offensive, and all 4 red parts gives you a Giga Crush. The blue one is mostly for mobility, all 4 blue parts increases your current armor effects. They both have drastically different X-Busters.
- MMX can air-dash from the get-go. So can Zero, rather than needing a boot upgrade for MMX or beating a boss for Zero.
- Zero has multiple weapons that change his gameplay slightly(the Hammer being slower but stronger, or the Spear having longer range for example). The knuckles have a more drastic change in fighting style.
- Axl has a playstyle that's similar to Bass' in the classic games.
- Axl's weapons are completely different than MMX's. Something not even Bass had.
- You can take two characters at once. And like many tag team fighting games, your injured teammate can heal red health by switching them out.
- There's a super meter that uses both characters.
- You can disable the Navigators from the later games after the opening stage.
- You can revisit the Opening Stage.
Which is why I appreciate this game so much. It adds a lot without throwing away what works for the games already.
The dude at the end had Ultron's pumpkin face sooo[Matpat voice] Well that's just a theory.
In all seriousness, it's only a very plausible theory right now.
There's a lot of ways Mega Man EXE could be handled, though I can easily see what you mean by that.On Megaman getting a 2nd/3rd character in MvCI: Yeah I definitely vouch for Bass.exe as well.
Great moveset potential and would avoid feeling same-y unlike Classic Bass or Classic Protoman imo. Megaman.exe is good but he would feel like a retread of Megaman Volnutt who is someone fans would rather see and Protoman.exe is just a far less popular Zero (who, MvC3 brokenness aside, should come back).
Pretty much. At the time, Battle Network was the big Mega Man series going on at the time, selling the most overall. And the Zero games did okay too. Though X5 has it's fans at the very least, even if it's only okay at best. X6 is my de-facto guilty pleasure game. There's a couple things I like about it.It's kinda sad I feel X8 is grossly overlooked by everyone.
It's one of the more solid Megaman platformers they made but I guess X5-X7 soured people too much on the series by then (and the MMZ games were also around by this time I believe).
It's not on Steam.Welp, looks like it's time to go to Steam!
I'm probably gonna have to use that other way thenIt's not on Steam.
If you want to get it legally, you'll probably have to pay a high price for the PC version off eBay or something. It had a limited retail release and that was it.
There are "other" ways of getting it, but I can't discuss those here I think.
You know what protoman doesn't have though?zeros an over rated protoman long live Protoman.EXE
was thinking it was the superior Megas XLR but Its not and now im sadYou know, if the new season of Samurai Jack does well, maybe Adult Swim can revive another show by Genndy Tartakovsky that got canceled too early?
Never got around to watching Megas XLR, it looks like something I would enjoy.was thinking it was the superior Megas XLR but Its not and now im sad
I agree, mmph mmph. I'm very much over those kind of controller gimmicks and have been since about 2008. But, if they veer more towards the ARMS/Splatoon angle rather than the 1-2 Switch angle where they let you use a traditional control scheme, I can't complain too much. Also it'd be great to have more characters past Inkling actually be biggish names for future Smash. So apparently Nintendo's making a ton of new IPs. Some of them will take advantage of the Joy-Cons and at least one will be unconventional in the same general way Brain Age was.
Mmph, mmph. I hope they keep in mind what's fun to play instead of just fun to develop, new IPs tend to miss a lot more often than they hit.
That said, considering they seem to be rushing to dump as much of their traditional library onto the Switch as possible within the first year or two with all teams on one system and one of their latest new IPs taking off as a massive hit, I can definitely see the logic behind it. What else are they going to develop? Well, other than a new Kid Icarus, anyway. Plz
I do think I can guess what one of these new projects is to a small degree, at least, and at the very least the concept doesn't sound too out there. Aonuma said he was going to work on a game where you play as a thief, but also had to work on Zelda at the same time. Zelda currently has DLC being worked on, so that'd free up some staff not being a full game and thus he's probably working on the new IP as we speak. He expresed interest in HD Rumble as a gameplay element and lamented not being able to use it in BotW, so that'd cover the Joy-Con gimmick. From there, well. . .I'm sure he'll tell us more soon enough, I get a funny feeling like a stealth game is something he's wanted to make for a long time.
. . .Don't worry about not getting a new Zelda game any time soon, though, the 2D team is working on their own new Zelda title for the Switch as we speak, likely with some of their own convention shaking.
I wonder if we'll see a new Nintendo IP during this generation that manages to have the same joy to it as Splatoon does. I forsee a lot of things flopping in the future as everything gets thrown at the wall but it will be fascinating to see if something completely unanticipated manages to rise to glory. Who knows, at this volume we might even get multiple big successes.
SMT says Hi from the 3DS and soon SwitchI love the bright and colourful cartoony games they make, but some more diversity on that side of things would be nice.
You really have to thank Splatoon for Nintendo making a lot of new IPs.So apparently Nintendo's making a ton of new IPs. Some of them will take advantage of the Joy-Cons and at least one will be unconventional in the same general way Brain Age was.

What Adult swim should pick up is Teen Titans Season 6. It could work as long as GO isn't stopping it.
I honestly wonder what people's reactions would be if the next Metroid were made by a completely unanticipated team and Retro did something completely unrelated with their time.Seems legit...lol

I wonder what everyone's reaction would be if activision picked up metroid and the prime games were made by treyarch or infinity ward.I honestly wonder what people's reactions would be if the next Metroid were made by a completely unanticipated team and Retro did something completely unrelated with their time.
As of now I have no idea, but as of the last time Retro gave any hint of their next project years ago I get a strong feeling it was either a new IP or an IP new to them and that for Metroid to be on the table something else would have been canned mid-creation.
Funny enough, Metroid Prime did release in a prime number year, 2003.........in all countries but North America, which released in 2002.Seems legit...lol

Don't push your third-parties on me, I'm part of the problem.SMT says Hi from the 3DS and soon Switch
VERY HESITANTI honestly wonder what people's reactions would be if the next Metroid were made by a completely unanticipated team and Retro did something completely unrelated with their time.
People would hate it until they realized it's a good game. The CoD teams are capable devs.I wonder what everyone's reaction would be if activision picked up metroid and the prime games were made by treyarch or infinity ward.![]()
VERY HESITANT
People don't like what happened the last time other companies got their hands on Metroid.
Acknowledging that requires a level of empathy scorned Metroid fans no longer posses. To be fair, it wasn't their fault that Other M was bad as it was.
It's possible they can work on multiple projects, Retro is supposedly a big enough company to work on multiple projects...I honestly wonder what people's reactions would be if the next Metroid were made by a completely unanticipated team and Retro did something completely unrelated with their time.

My guess is Gen 8 in 2019.One other thing I haven't discussed yet: job openings for people with experience in HD modeling have very recently been opened for Pokemon.
Pokemon Company has been quietly implying a mainline game for the Switch will come at a more distant point in the future and that Pokken and Mystery Dungeon will come first and mentioning issues with transitioning to a more powerful system due to the graphics bump, so I'd say this solidifies Switch mainline Pokemon for 2018 further.
. . .Please don't panic, we've done this before LOL.
Replace Bayo 3 with Xeno 2 and you have my list. If they truly are releasing it this year, then I expect to see more info on it soon.So there's an article going around that has Reggie stating that E3 is going to be huge for them this year. I mean they say this every year but I might actually believe them for this one.
What do you guys think we'll see? Top 5?
- Smash Switch (Or Smash in some form at least. Too many rumors going around.)
- New Pokemon (Maybe a remake for 3DS? I don't feel like we'll see the Switch title this year.)
- Breath of the Wild DLC (That's almost a given in my eyes)
- Bayonetta 3 (I dunno, I just got this feeling)
- A **** TON OF Super Mario Odyssey ( A **** TON)
Game Freak also emphasized further back in time streamlining their pipeline so they could get games out annually and then immediately afterwards took two years to make the next game instead of one, so I dunno. I feel like they're trying to get games out faster but just have hiccups, I don't see them waiting even longer than the 3DS to get a game out when they actively want to be a factory of them, I'm not sure they'd be hinting this early if they were planning on waiting quite that long.My guess is Gen 8 in 2019.
1. Everything we know that won't be out yet. Fire Emblem Warriors, Xenoblade 2, Odyssey, probably Splatoon 2 since E3 is early summer. And yes, BotW DLC as well.So there's an article going around that has Reggie stating that E3 is going to be huge for them this year. I woukd see main pokemon games in 3DS still while spinoffs are on the switchConsidering there's been a Smash title for home consoles since the 64, I feel like there's a pretty good chance of an installment on the Switch.
As a major Pokemon fan, as much I'd like to see it being a possibility, I just don't see a mainstream Pokemon game on the Switch. Yes, it doubles as a portable and a home console, but I feel like there's going to be another strictly portable system before a Gen VIII game or a theoretical third Gen VII version comes out.
