Now we are exploring the wonderful world of Fire Emblem with this week's Smash polls. Given the massive cast, some games might get multiple polls to compensate for them. For now, it will be all about Shadow Dragon.

Especially since there aren't many heavily desired characters from the Geneology of the Holy War games. Or even Gaiden.

Someone explain to me how the WiiU version manages to look better than the Switch version?

-better shadows
-higher resolution (compare the lights @3:45)
-better draw distance (comare the temple and mountains @6:39)
-no piss filter so the colors look nicer

Plus the benefit of having the gamepad for inventory management. WiiU version is considerably superior to the Switch version. Runs the same, looks better, and has more features.

Let's be real, Leif is easily one of the most forgettable Lords in the franchise.

At least with Roy and Corrin, their notoriety will never leave them forgotten (even if it's for negative reasons).

Let's be real, Leif is easily one of the most forgettable Lords in the franchise.

At least with Roy and Corrin, their notoriety will never leave them forgotten (even if it's for negative reasons).

But at least Leif has a character. Meanwhile, Alfonse will most likely be forgotten whenever Heroes loses some steam.

From what I got out of the story, he's far more blander as a character in comparison.

Actually, they're pretty much identical aside from the Wii U having worse loading times, doesn't have lens flare with the sun, and being lower res. Only one of those is potentially a big deal and that's the loading times, but I've heard that's more so if you have a disc if you downloaded it, it should be fine. Though I have heard the frames can really drop in certain situations. Still, the Wii U version is not that much of a downgrade, especially when compared to cross gen ports. Though then again, it did start as a Wii U game first if I remember correctly.

Let's be real, Leif is easily one of the most forgettable Lords in the franchise.

I actually like Leif in FE5. He makes mistakes and actually gets punished for them (Tahra and Alster were disasters for him, for example), but actually learns and grows from them unlike a lot of other characters in the series. So he's one of the more realistic characters in the series. In terms of stats, sure, he's not all that exciting in 5 (no fatigue, though), but in 4, how can you say no to the Master Knight?

It bombed, yes. Didn't even reach 150,000 units. Though part of that is maybe down to its weird release formats - it was first released as a Nintendo Power downloadable game, and then later as an actual cartridge. But mostly because of how late in the SNES' lifetime it was released.

I am not seeing any of this. I'm actually seeing the opposite in some cases.

Hell I'm looking around and you're the first person to make any of these observations.

Most people say the only differences are the lens flare and resolution.

Runs the same,

Wii U has been reported to have frame drops in places the Switch version hasn't.

At least if what I'm reading is correct.

Although more confusion than falling asleep.

I would have actually voted on one of these instead of not having enough of an opinion to click if Caeda had been on there.

Game consoles tend to last longer in Japan than they do in the west. At that point, the North American and PAL SNES was discontinued, but the Japanese Super Famicom was still being sold.

Don't forget that Nintendo was working on a Nintendo 64 Fire Emblem before pulling the plug on it.

Which is why Kaga left to do Tear Ring Saga for the PS1 which didn't get released over here and was part of a major lawsuit with Nintendo for being too much like FE.

Like FE was in a weird spot in the late 90s-Early 2000s.

Also fun fact the Wars series got a game on N64.
