Quick question, what kind of character designs do you guys like?

I tend to prefer it when characters have really readable looks without too many bells and whistles. But I know some others would like complex looking characters.

I mean.

It really depends on three huge things.

• Tone of the work
• Tone of the series
• General Artsyle

There are so many different ways to make good character designs. Hard to find just one style I like.


That said, I do like scary things that don't go very far. Like monsters with neat and unique designs that would be scary in real life but aren't straight up grotesque.

Pretty much anything

Cool, simple, absurd, whatever.
You can be the most absurd Final Fantasy character, or the most basic Fire Emblem character. I might love you if you just look good.

Only designs I really don't like are ones that are "sexy" for no reason. Stuff like Camilla's thigh armor gaps or ZSS's heels piss me off, but I can take sexy if it "Makes sense" or is at least conservative.


I do have a preference for female designs for some reason. Not even a sexiness thing, they usually just look better to me.

I really want my Male Robin to refine his Blarraven+

Raven Tomes, I will admit, is something I'm only a bit surprised that it's not refinable. On the other hand, they are very common and they are powerful for the fact that they work against Colorless. And Colorless is somewhat still in a somewhat mediocre spot, besides Brave Lyn, who is practically in her own catagory and I assure you that when other Horse Archers and Reina(a Flying Archer) are released later, Brave Lyn will lose her exclusive category.

Eh... I actually still at chapter 5 even though I have played the game for over 200 hours...
The more rare Blades you get the least chance you get obviously...

I can see what you mean with Camilla. Though doesn't ZSS' jet-heels allow her to use her up-B and things like that. I mean, it's not quite Bayonetta or that chick from the first Kingsmen movie. But it has SOME use to the character. The Other M one I could agree on.

Usually I don't if a design for any character is or isn't sexual, as long I think they look cool. Like, I'm not a fan of every JoJo's design, but I really like Part 3 Dio and that ***** is wearing yellow chaps with black body spandex and heart-knee pads.

Sure, but I find that most people tend to be attracted to certain genre's and artstyles, and whatever designs come from those styles/series might have wide variety of characters, so some they might like a lot, while others are suddenly off putting and can take some enjoyment from either the character or whole story/game/whatever else.

Simpler designs are generally the best designs overall....jrpgs are more often than not way too busy making the character designs just seem way over the top...
Also having a strong silhouette can make for a strong design...sometimes even the simplest features can make for a very strong and recognizable silhouette...a good example of this is batman...

A good rule of thumb for designs in general would be 'less is more'...

Man, **** Wulfric sidequest boss. Every time, I try to change my stragegy and equipements. But in the end, I died every time, even when I am good start.

I even level up my characters to level 58 (so, 4 free level up) to have a chance, but I seem to just get worst. So I am going to stop for now before my sodium level reach a bad level.

Also, I guess the game felt pity for me and gave me Dalia for Nia. Fanservice aside, I heard that she was a good healer, so, I am happy I guess.

Hm... I haven't done Wulfric side quest... Yet...
Hope it won't be too hard for me....

She could get along just fine with regular jet boots.

Although I also think adding Jet boots to a character who has never used them for a game meant to celebrate history is stupid as hell, but that's another matter.



Also, Fire Emblem (the whole damn series) is my favorite series look if that's what you want to go on. Final Fantasy is probably my second favorite. There's a reason I used both as examples, but I guess I only just realized why

I must also mention that it is a big plus if the character's design tells a story about the character...take Barret from FFVII as an example...he doesn't have his arm gun just cuz its badass...

Finished leveling Sothe.

He's got great attack and speed. Definitely a step in the right direction with daggers. I would love to see what he'd be like fully merged.

Been playing Xenoverse 2 and it's pretty fun, the Switch version is a surprisingly good port.

In the first game I went with a male Saiyan but this time I went with a female Majin (I did make a Saiyan on the side just in case I didn't like the Majin's moveset), so far so good. The RNG still kinda.. blows... sadly. And my Supers suck balls right now so that's a bummer.

Meanwhile I keep aggressively refreshing r/dragonballfighterz to see if the servers for the Open Beta go up early.
