Based on how angry you are, and how enflamed you currently are, I don't expect you to take any criticism, or even come back to this board anytime soon, but I think i'll give it a shot for all the other people in the thread.


Nintendo obviously isn't perfect. People constantly talk about how the Switch is missing basic features other consoles have or its online functions (or lack thereof).


Obviously, criticizing a company and its decisions is valid. What isn't vaild, is stuff like this, where you insult other users just because they don't have the same opinion as you.

Next time, try to keep your opinions respectful and backed up with evidence, and be prepared to argue your point. Instead of this where no evidence is provided and then you resort to insults immediately after anyone replies. Hope you enjoyed my "scathing rebuttal because I think Nintendo is perfect"

Screwed over? All Nintendo did was announce a few ports of games that more than likely didn't sell well on a system hardly anyone really bought (and I DID buy it, just. . .not those games). They want their money back on that investment, no one is owed anything for "supporting" them because all the handful of people that actually bought the Wii U did was buy a product. I may have a pretty positive outlook on Nintendo compared to most, but even I can tell you that buying their products isn't a lifestyle. They don't owe you anything, you don't owe them anything. They make a product you may potentially enjoy, you have the option to buy it, or not buy it. If they release it on another system, you have the option to not buy it, or sell the physical copies of the old version and buy it again if you prefer.

And the only first party IP port I've bought (unless BotW is counted for some reason despite being a simultaneous release) was Mario Kart 8 Deluxe specifically over content it had that the Wii U version I did not buy lacked. I never really enjoyed Pokken the first time so I skipped the port, and I have no interest in picking up Tropical Freeze either. So that's where I stand on that ground.

Indeed. And like I also mentioned, people were, in fact, asking for ports. People were asking for ports of Mario Maker, Hyrule Warriors, Wonderful 101, etc. Heck, people wanted ports of 3rd party games, including Dark Souls, which we are getting. It's funny how people are complaining about ports despite the fact that people were indeed asking for ports. And this is for the first half of the year. We certainly haven't seen what's coming out for the 2nd half.

Reading the description of the Donkey Kong trailer for Mario + Rabbids raises something interesting: "Donkey Kong will be exclusive to this brand new adventure".

Hopefully it's not implying he can't be used outside of the new story. It could really great in the co-op and versus mode.

My feet start moving too, before I realise, I'm in the closest gaming store. One of my hands is holding the cash and the other has a note with "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe please" written on it, I don't know when they had time to write this but that's the least of my concerns at the moment.

"Sorry, no can do" the store clerk bluntly tells me "I need just one more sale to hit my quota for the month. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, right? Here you go, have fun."
My hand hands over the money and takes the game, I now have control of my body once again. I drop on my knees, defeated by Nintendo's evil ports scheme.
"But I... I thought I could choose how to spend my money!" tears start dropping off my face. "Have I been lied to!?" I start crying. "HAS THE INTERNET LIED TO ME ONCE AGAIN!?"

But... before I can fully fall into despair, my phone rings, I take it out of my pocket and see I have received a new email. It's from Nintendo. I open it.

Yup:
- Kirby we saw in the Mini as well as Mario Tennis, both look good.
- Pikmin 4 is... somewhere.
- We still know nothing about FE16 other than it being a Switch game that is slated for this year. for all we know it's a Sci-fi FPS
- Yoshi we haven't seen since E3.
- Pokemon has a chance of making it this year (could easily be next year)
- Octopath Traveller is slated for this year.
- Travis Strikes back: No More Heroes is this year.
- There'll also be a lot of unannounced stuff, DLCs, third parties and indies too.

From that list I'm interested in all but Yoshi. That's a good year already before we get in to that last bit on the list.

Not wrong, but have a look at the full quote:

SoulCalibur VI development started more than three years ago. And nobody knew anything about Switch back then. So, as a matter of fact we are not working on Switch, as of now. But of course, personally, I’m interested in the platform. So if the Unreal Engine can adapt to Switch, and evolve itself, then maybe the possibility will be more.

Now this quote was received in mid-December, about half a month ago. Switch has been fully compatible with Unreal 4 since about mid-May. So there's at least some internal interest, and whatever they're waiting on, it ain't the tech specs.

Pretty sure at this point "never say never" still fits.

I think they've said that so far there are no plans for SoulCalibur VI coming to the Switch, since apparently they started working on the game long before the Switch was even announced.

Dark Souls Remastered is probably different because they might have been working on the Remaster around the time when the Switch was starting up.

Still, I'm pleasantly surprised by this Direct. Personal highlights for me are the TWEWY Final Mix, Kirby Star Allies, and Funky Freeze. SNK's new fighter looks pretty decent, and I'm hoping Nakoruru shows up again. It runs on KOFXIV's engine, so she'd probably be easy to bring back. Dark Souls Remastered also looks good, and maybe I might get it since Dark Souls III wasn't my cup of tea in the end.

And of course, typing these paragraphs led to me being 'd.

All in all: R.I.P my conservative buying plans for most of this year.
