So apparently KOFXIV's online is silky smooth after yesterday's patch.

Random question: What were your guys' reaction to MGSV: The Phantom Pain after it was released a year ago? You can post spoilers.

Well, Fire/Fairy is almost surely going to happen with one of the Tapus, so...
I had a dream last night that one of the guardian Pokemon was a Grass/Fire tiki...

As of this post, I've played nearly every other mainline Metal Gear installment (plus Revengeance), but I still haven't played Phantom Pain, or Ground Zeroes for that matter. Now that MGSV: The Definitive Experience (which will include both MGSV games and all of their DLC) has been announced, I'll just wait for that.

That being said, I remember saying last year that Phantom Pain looked underwhelming compared to past Metal Gear games. And I still feel that way.

So.
For craps and giggles.
My ideas for the 30 UTCs.
01: Fairy/Dark - Baark & Howool: A literal "wolf in sheep's clothing"
02: Fairy/Poison -
this but with a toxic mushroom cap, basically.
03: Fairy/Fire - Horse Fire Starter. Becomes full Pegasus or Unicorn. Bonus points if it has Sleipnir's 6 legs.
04: Fairy/Ground - Sentient Dust Cloud. Arguably in a rabbit-like form as a "dust bunny."
05: Fairy/Fighting - Mega Granbull.
06: Dark/Electric - Mega Luxray
07: Dark/Bug - Give us a nefarious Mosquito.
08: Steel/Poison - Give us something medical in design. A living syringe creature. Beakers like the enemies in the Hee Hee university in M&L: Superstar Saga.
09: Steel/Normal - Armadillo. Normal type rodent that evolves from metal coat trading.
10: Fire/Grass - Tiki pokemon, we kinda expect this.
11: Fire/Ice - Rabbit/Hare Fire Starter. Flaming snow rabbit with frostburn based unique move.
12: Electric/Poison - Computer Virus type pokemon.... ok granted Rotom is kinda this already but c'mon we can do something new with it.
13: Electric/Fighting - Mega Electrivire
14: Electric/Rock - Magnetic crystal type of "inorganic" fossil-like pokemon.
15: Rock/Poison - Scorpxic. A stony scorpion pokemon with a dark purple gem for a stinger.
16: Rock/Normal - Sheep that evolves into a Mountain Goat with stone horns.
17: Rock/Ghost - ....Another golem Pokemon. That's the one real thing that comes to min.
18: Poison/Psychic - To go with the steel/poison, something like a twisted doctor pokemon.
19: Poison/Normal - Screw it I leave these three to the darwin cat idea that gets the subtype of parent.
20: Poison/Ice - Alolan Jynx. Thinned out and just looks like a "trashy valley girl."
21: Psychic/Bug - Mega Butterfree (with Levitate)
22: Ground/Fighting - For some reason my mind goes to a boxing mole creature.
23: Bug/Normal - Screw it I leave these three to the darwin cat idea that gets the subtype of parent.
24: Bug/Ice - Snowball dung beetle
25: Bug/Dragon - Mega Yanmega
26: Normal/Ghost - Shrodinger's Cat (sorry oppossum lovers)
27: Normal/Ice - Screw it I leave these three to the darwin cat idea that gets the subtype of parent.
28: Ghost/Fighting - Jhiangshi
29: Fighting/Ice - Go full viking yeti creature
30: Fighting/Dragon - Mixed Martial Artist Drake. I dunno what more to add here.

Well, Fire/Fairy is almost surely going to happen with one of the Tapus, so...
Until we have it shown officially, it's not here yet.

Edit: Apparently too cryptic...

Oh.
Bagon.
Axew, imo.
Haxorus is such a damn sweeping machine.
Well so is Salamence...(especially with Moxie but I won't be able to get that in game)

Both are offensive monsters...and start off being not that OP (well at least Bagon since Axew learns dragon Rage rather early which is broken early game) and then they'll be powerhouses later on...

I'm leaning towards Bagon simply because Salamence can fly which makes him slightly more useful in game...Haxorus can learn Poison Jab which makes him a great fairy killer (Haxorus was my MvP in my Dragon Mono-run I did way back when because of this)...but...I'm also weighing whether I'll use Toxicroak or Drapion (leaning towards Drapion because 4x psychic weakness vs. Immunity and only weak to ground) so fairy will be covered with STAB...

but on the other hand I haven't used Haxorus nearly as much as I used Salamence (got Salamence so many times in Ruby back in the day)...very conflicted here...

wouldn't mind using Druddigon actually, but I'm not waiting until Victory Road to catch him...

Good luck using drapion.
Because I did it in Platinum.
You babysit a Skorupi until it evolves, never letting it see an actual fight.
...
But with gen 6 exp share and pokemon amie's 1.2x exp boost you can do that pretty easy.

Kinda like everyone's favourite :129:

I'm also trying to avoid using the Exp. Share at all (only for grinding which I'll rarely need tbh) because of how broken it is...

The fact that no one has suggested a Bravely Default reference for a Fairy/Flying type disappoints me a little.

:p

They made a second Omega Rubyer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIkA-RLWEjY

*Mild language. Some of those jokes though. The SU one got me.
Oh, really? *runs to go watch it*

. . .80% of that video derailed into dissing Tumblrite-esque internet culture with a detour to diss a specific Pokemon Go team.

I felt like the first one focused more on the actual game and moved a bit faster.

It also spent a super long time talking about an ad that the first one didn't, but I can't blame it as much for that since the video maker's gotta get paid. Being bored from it was probably part of why I ended up being a bit more cynical about the rest of the video, though.

. . .I'm watching the first Omega Rubyer again, and while it had a ton of jokes like that as well they were either paced a lot faster or in most cases were background gags in scenes not at all related to them.

I feel like the new one sacrificed pacing in an effort to be mean spirited.

If and when they get to part three I hope they start following the plot a bit more again. Thankfully they probably have to, since it would take like 20 parts to finish it at this pace and I highly doubt they want to punish themselves doing that just for the sake of making fun of a few subcultures.

....
It's...
It's escaping me.
Probably because I haven't touched the game since like a month after it came out.
Edit: I read that as Fairy/Fighting I need to sleep.

Because the full name of Bravely Default is Bravely Default: Flying Fairy?

*looks up*

. . .In Japan, anyway?

It doesn't have to do with playing it, so don't worry about missing anything. It's a title gag.

I legit.
Read flying as fighting.
Because my mind was on the unused type combinations still.
I need sleep.

Actually in Japan its Where the Fairy Flies,
When you get to a certain part in the story, the Where the and the Fs fade away to show Airy Lies, airy being the fairy that is with you through the game. So it kinda does play a part in the game I guess

-Smaug

When making art, does anyone else just google the hex code for colors with random titles

I literally just googled the find the hex for "Gross Green" and it exists

and it was exactly the right color for what I needed it for

I play with the sliders in Photoshop...blending colours until I find what I'm looking for, or find something satisfactory...

Also I use reference images and just eyeball it...

After 40 years, I can't believe Akimoto-san is finally giving up on his long running masterpiece. The days of Ryo-san's daily life in the Katsushika Ward are finally coming to an end. Most of us may not be as lucky to read the manga or watch the anime (I know @--- and @Dr. FalKoopa does), but it's been a long emotional ride for those fans in Japan and other places in the world. 2016 is a sad year when four popular WSJ series ended to make room for a new era of the magazine. May you continue trying to find ways of making more money than your boring police station job for eternity Kankichi Ryotsu.
