Well, my SmashBoards friends, I have a second invitation to Nintendo of America on Friday where I will be discussing my contract with the company. As I have already reviewed the current iteration of the contract, I have decided that, if offered during/after my next invitation, I will accept the position of Miiverse Community Insights Specialist at Nintendo of America.

Ruby Heart from MvC2 got her own Street Fighter lore profile:
http://game.capcom.com/cfn/sfv/column-130589.html

Though one thing to note is that Nakayama said that this Ruby isn't the same Ruby Heart from MvC2, rather she is the daughter of a bartender. She's also Norwegian instead of French.
After having her appear in a mediocre mobile game, we actually get to see her again.... but as a Street Fighter character?

Thank you based Capcom.

OMFG!!!

I forgot how goddamn annoying it is going through the beginning of Kalos, especially in Lumiose City....You get stopped every three ****ing steps because everyone keeps bugging you...I can't wait to actually get to the second Gym as the game starts speeding up a bit...

in other news still haven't decided on my second mon yet...I usually always add dragons and one thing I like about this game is that you get three dragons available before the second gym...but then again (in Pokemon Y at least) ALL dragons up to this point in the games (minus legends of course) are available to catch in the wild...

I just noticed something

  • Mario Superstar Sports has Tennis, Soccer, Golf, Baseball and Horse Racing
  • Soccer, Golf, Tennis, Baseball and Horse Racing are all Olympic sports
  • Japan is hosting the 2020 Olympics
  • The mascot of the Olympics is Mario
They played us all

OMFG!!!

B&W1 and X&Y are the worst at handholding and stopping progression. Especially X/Y when your friends always want to do these events with you and you do nothing most cases and gain nothing

BW actually stops all of that by the second gym but B2W2 and HGSS are considered the best games because they don't handhold at all and let you go off right at the first gym

Just watched the newest episode of Pokemon XY&Z. Man, this Team Flare arc is getting better with each episode! It honestly feels like I'm watching a good Pokemon movie (and I mean a good one; all the XY movies are pretty meh) considering the action and the animation is delivering really well.

Lysandre reveals what the entire point of having Alain collect the Mega Evolution energy: Lysandre used the energy to mind control Zygarde. He tells Alain it's thanks to him that Team Flare is where they're at now, causing Alain to experience an emotional breakdown as he questions what was the entire point of helping Mairin and her Chespin in the first place. Lysandre comments that it was remarkable that Alain held on to such an ideal like that, and Ash realizes that Alain was collecting the Mega Evolution energy for Mairin's sake.

Meanwhile, Serena, Clemont, Bonnie, Mairin, Clembot, and Blaziken Man are stopped by Bryony and Aliana, and both summon a Liepard and a Druddigon respectively. Sycamore's Mega Garchomp intervenes to save the gang, and Mairin tells Serena about her Chespin who is back at the Lysandre Labs. Her, Serena, and Sycamore decide to head to the Labs to take the Chespin. Clemont, Clembot, and Blaziken Man are left to deal with Bryony and Aliana. As for Bonnie, she is following Puni-chan as it battles the other 50% form, and that fight delivered pretty well. The XY rival trio and Sawyer also approach Diantha about how they can help, and she tells them to bring all the children and elders to a safe location for the time being.

Back at the top of Prism Tower, Lysandre reveals that he will force Ash to undergo the Ash Greninja transformation in order to receive the Bond Phenomena energy to further his goals (called it). He summons the two insect-like machines from the Lysandre gear and both proceed to zap Ash and his Greninja to force the transformation. Ash tries to resist as he tells Lysandre that they are good people and Pokemon in the world despite Lysandre telling him that he will make him "the chosen savior to guide the people" after the plan is completely executed.

Ash continues to resist. He tells Alain to stop looking at the past and that he cherishes the Alain he bonded with. Ash and Greninja eventually transform, but it seems like they do it out of their own will and not from force. The transformation is so strong that the shackles on Ash and Greninja. Now that Alain has gained confidence thanks to Ash, he summons Charizard and orders it to use Dragon Claw to free Ash's other Pokemon. Lysandre then begins to equip his Lysandre gear. Turns out the pieces of the gear can apparently levitate on its own. Pretty high tech!

The battle rages on between the two Zygardes. Funny enough, they both share the same cry as Palkia from the 4th generation movies. Moving on, they fire vines at each other and even ram into one another here and then. The battle reaches the climax where Z2 traps Puni-chan with a series of large vines. This puts it at perfect range for Xerosic to fire another mind control beam, this time to take over Puni-chan.

We then see more of the battle between Clemont and Clembot and Bryony and Aliana. The battle ends with Clembot ordering Heliolisk to use Flash, distracting Liepard and Druddigon to bump into each other and allowing Clemont to finish them off. During the Flash, Clembot successfully captures Bryony and Aliana. Two down, four to go!

Serena, Mairin, and Sycamore run into Team Rocket, still disguised as reporters, on the way, and after learning the latter has a helicopter and both agree on their goals, they all decide to travel to Lysandre Labs. We see the helicopter reach the base at some point, and Mable and Celosia already know they are there (both are also back at the Labs). We then see Clemont and Clembot working together to break through Team Flare's machines inside the tower.

To be honest, after they recover Mairin's Chespin, I want to see one of our heroes destroy the Lysandre Labs. If Serena ends up doing that, that would be sick, but I doubt she'd be the one to do it. That's more likely going to be Garchomp's job.

Back to the Zygarde battle, Bonnie becomes worried about Puni-chan and tries to call for it, but it is no use. Vines are about to attack Bonnie as well, but Blaziken Man saves her in the nick of time, but Bonnie is now heavily distressed knowing that Puni-chan is about to be affected by the worst. Around this point, Xerosic fires the next beam at Puni-chan... and Puni-chan becomes fully mind controlled. Yes, that's right, Team Flare now has access to both Zygardes, and now more destruction runs amok in Lumiose City. Looks like this was another prediction of mine that became true. Now I wonder if they will be the ones to trigger the 100% transformation.

What follows is next is one of my favorite parts about the episode: Lysandre's backstory.

Back at Prism Tower, Ash notices that Puni-chan has been mind-controlled. Lysandre evilly smiles, and when asked by Ash, the anime finally reveals the exact reason as to why Lysandre wanted to "reset" the world in the first place.

The anime ends up exploring more of Lysandre's backstory than the games. Team Flare apparently used to be a charity group that helped victims affected by disasters. We see Xerosic, Mable, Bryony, and Lysandre dressed in simple lab coats and helping a ravished town by bringing them supplies.
Overtime, as Lysandre and his crew brought more supplies to those in need, the people kept demanding for more, pretty much to the point they became arrogant. It was then Lysandre realizes that humans are selfish and thus need to be brought back into place by "resetting" the world.

The games only mentioned that Lysandre used to be someone who helped people in need, but once he realized about humanity's stupidity and his own limitations, that's when he became misanthropic. They never revealed that Team Flare used to be a charity organization though, nor did they really show how exactly did Lysandre realize humanity's stupidity. Major props to the anime for finally showing us more about Lysandre and Team Flare's origins!

Lysandre then summons his Gyarados (which is a shiny in this version, and it has the same cry as Dialga from the 4th generation movies) and Pyroar, and he Mega Evolves the former. Then, Alain Mega Evolves his Charizard. Lysandre vs Ash and Alain here we go! I predicted Pyroar would be the first to go down since it is the weakest between it, Mega Gyarados, Ash Greninja, and Mega Charizard X.

Ash ends up using all of his Pokemon at once to aid Ash Greninja in battle, as well as deal damage to both Pyroar and Mega Gyarados. By the end of episode, Pyroar is the first to go down (not surprised). The episode ends on a good cliffhanger as the Mega Gyarados still stands strong while we see how both Zygarde's are wrecking even more of Lumiose City).

Honestly, I'm enjoying this Team Flare arc MUCH more than the Kalos League arc. Once again, I felt emotional at some parts (particularly the middle and the ending), and experienced hype as I watched the battles taking place left and right. I'm already looking forward to next week too. Steven Stone is now confirmed to return for the next episode, though I can't seem to tell which part of the fight he will join going off the preview. Clembot also has a death flag from the advertisement too, though I wouldn't too surprised if he makes it somehow (probably by having the memory chip stay intact during a potential explosion).

I really hope Sun and Moon tones down on this big time...although I feel like they won't since its introducing a new challenge system with the Island Captains...but even still, I really wish they take replayability into account since we only play the game for the first time once afterwards we don't need this much handholding...

I wasn't going to post another screen shot until I was done but

Don't you hate it when in Minecraft you suddenly find yourself in a giant's stomach and suddenly get attacked by parasite worms!

The background was pretty cool to see. They did really well with the whole episode plot and fight scenes. It's coming along nicely and I look forward to the conclusion. Thought they were looking to get chespin.

And Steven Aides Serena and Mallon's group. It says that as they arrive at the labs, a powerful aide appears to help them. There are also 3 more episodes left for it. And Clembot could certainly be killed. That be surprising though. It was neat to see Team Rocket take on a different and more backseat, but helpful role for this episode to.

Minor nitpick: Hilbert/Hilda weren't 10, they're implied to be in their mid teens. In fact, most of the protagonists are older then 10 nowadays, even Red is implied to be 11.

With that said, I think that goes along with the shift Pokémon has had since late Gen 4. While Platinum and HGSS didn't have as much handholding or storytelling, you can still see elements of it present in the storyline such as forcing Ethan/Lyra to go and catch Lugia/Ho-oh because... reasons. BW put more emphasis on its story and thus became linear as a result, XY was deceptively linear and also led you through the story (and the first part was horribly tutorial/text heavy as said before), and even ORAS took cues from both and streamlined certain parts of the story to lead you along (such as adding the skips like when Wally teleports you from Petalburg to Mauvile). B2W2 was the most toned down in that regard since while the story was present, it did give you more breathing room after a certain point.

It's a shift that depending on your viewpoint, you may like or dislike, and it comes down to what you want out of the games. Sun/Moon is going to be interesting since I feel the Island Trials may allow for more freedom in the story structure compared to the more rigid Gym formula, so that may allow for more adventure. Either way though, the upcoming games are going to be a unique experience from both a story-telling and exploration regard just based on how much attention they're giving to the region and its culture, and both of those elements I feel will make exploring Alola very worthwhile.

I recently replayed the game and it really annoyed me how Alder forces you to get all badges and beat the Elite Four before you can get to him when N doesn't have to do either.

I mean, I understand the game wants you to beat them, but I really makes no sense to slow you down like that when the world is in danger.

POKEMON: Hmm. Alright. Nothing special.

MARIO MAKER: ...why remove the Mystery Mushroom? Plus, as someone with very few 3DS owners in my neighborhood, this would be a hard sell. Probably just skip it.

STAR RUSH: I actually think this looks like a major improvement over Island Tour. Might pick this up!

NEW LEAF: Nice to see some AC love! Can't go back to my town though; I've been gone too long.

STREETPASS: So, after that stock fall from Pokemon Go, Nintendo decided that the stock market would make a good Mii game. Fair enough!

TANKS: Hmm, it's interesting. I'll have to look into this one.

PICROSS: Love picross puzzles! Have to get the demo.

ZELDAMIIBO: Interesting. Probably won't get any, but still cool.

HYRULE WARRIORS: Well at least the train shows up!

DQ: Not too familiar with the series, but maybe I'll take a gamble.

YOKAI: May jump into this one. First game's demo didn't click with me, but I've heard this one is a vast improvement.

SONIC: zzz...

POOCHY: Aww! The amiibo is so cute!

OASIS: It's interesting, but I'm not too invested in it.

SPORTS: Always great to see some Camelot sports!

PIKMIN: "Wah, Pikmin 4 sucks!" Sheesh! One spinoff and everyone goes nuts!
. That said, kinda gives me Lemmings vibes.

Overall, it says to me, "Wii U is dead; long live the NX."

I recently replayed the game and it really annoyed me how Alder forces you to get all badges and beat the Elite Four before you can get to him when N doesn't have to do either.

I mean, I understand the game wants you to beat them, but I really makes no sense to slow you down like that when the world is in danger.
n fought the elite 4....grimsley even mentions him by name if you fight him last

something tells me thats not true
I don't think you realize how little I use Twitter

Also, again, I don't even know who that guy is

Edit: I just looked through my tweets

Most of them are just tweeting to @Notch and @Jeb_ or @Sora_Sakurai like it actually mattered

Other than that, just retweets and throwing my voice into the void

I'm surprised people dislike the first part of XY, that's actually my favorite part of the game
Then it gets boring once you get to Lumiose City a second time
I see... must've missed that bit. Still, he did not beat the gyms.
Yes, he did
N mentions that he'll beat every gym in order to get to the Pokemon League
It's just not shown

It's just silly, y'know.
And now I enter Sad Samus mode now... Tomorrow is the day when Metroid Prime Federation Force launches in Australia/Europe. I'm expecting for the game to satisfy as an okay way to whet the appetite for some more Metroid. If we ever do get another game after the abysmal sales in Japan...

I'm starting to think some gamers are allergic to spin-off's. (Unless you're Mario Kart or Hyrule Warriors)

I was thinking, the Mario amiibo line has now covered most of the characters that appear in each spin-off but there's the exception of Bowser Jr. I was wondering if they expand the line to include him, what other characters would be included in this wave 3.

Suggestions
-Baby Mario
-Baby Luigi
-Any of the other babies
-Birdo (gotta have the LGBT representation these days)
-Petey Pirahna
-Dr Mario
-Toadette
-Koopalings
-Other enemies

To pick another 6 my choices would be

-Bowser Jr
-Birdo
-Toadette
-Baby Mario
-Baby Luigi
-Shy Guy
