Also, since the "salty" conversation went on for a while. . .while the term "salt" has some rather childish implications with it's use, it's use in terms of the reaction to Ash losing and the absence of several Smash characters could easily be substituted for the phrase "people are throwing childish tantrums about this."
You can be "salty" and still have a point about something. The "salt" isn't that someone has an opinion, it's that a given individual is acting like a three year old who was just told they can't have any more candy.
Granted, the term "salt" can be thrown around as loosely as the term "troll," and there's certainly some internet equivalents of schoolyard bullies who would happily toss the phrase around as an accusation against anyone who disagrees with them. And yes, the word "salt" can be pretty irritating at times once those abuses of the phrase stack up.
But the sentiment behind it isn't exactly wrong, because the reactions to anything and everything going wrong in the video game industry are ludicrously over the top and immature.
So yes, the people who are upset over the Ash thing are "salty." They're right, but they're still "salty," because they're also acting certifiably insane about it.
