Braixen looks annoying and is mobile, but from what I've seen, Suicune has good defence, good offense, dumb projectiles and a good grab. Kinda boring watching him
Thing about Suicune is that he has to use a variety of projectiles to get things done.

Braixen can use the same tools over and over.

Also, Suicune's grab is terrible.

Going from what I'm seeing, only 1 Braixen match so far.
Then...The commentators lied? Q.Q
Suicune is simply better. But he has to use his entire kit to do better.

Braixen is a one or two trick pony, which is why I find her incredibly dull.

And yeah, Suicune's grab damage is one of the worst in the game and the range is only okay.

Let me ask everyone here:

1) What qualities do you personally look for in a good main protagonist?
2) What do you think distinguishes a good main protagonist from a bad main protagonist?
3) Who is your favorite main protagonist in a work of fiction (video game/book/movie/TV show/anime/etc.) and why?
4) Who is your least favorite main protagonist in a work of fiction (video game/book/movie/TV show/anime/etc.) and why?

Just thought I'd create start some discussion for once and see how it goes.
I guess it depends on what medium we are talking about, a book/movie or video game? In a game, I'm not too overly picky in regards to how much personality certain protagonist have. Especially those who are more meant for you to fill their shoes in such as Mario, Samus and Kirby etc since their main focus is more in regards to their journey rather than themselves. On the flipside, I do really enjoy playing games with protagonist's that are just fun to hang around with such as Toon Link, Pit and Phoenix Wright.

In terms of mediums that focus more on story. I suppose a fun and relatable protagonists are the ones I enjoy the most. I'm not too fond of those that are a bit more "in your face" or overpowered type of characters though. Since I tend to find them more obnoxious that anything really.....

At this point, Toon Link is probably my most favourite main protagonist, I refer to him in particularly as I don't find most other Link's in the Zelda series to be as full of life and character as he is. Wind Waker is one of my most favourite Zelda games and part of that is by how much expressive Toon Link is as a character, especially for a silent main protagonist.

In regards to least favourite, I'm not quite sure if I have any protagonists who I openly dislike as I tend to usually just ignore any characters I'm not too fond of if I can. So at the moment, I can't really think of any right now....

Not sure if I really added anything, but I guess that's just my two cents....

Katsuhiro Harada confirmed Master Raven's relationship to Raven a few hours ago.

And I thought she was Raven's daughter. Well, the "Master" in her name makes perfect sense now.

I just had "French Toast Sticks" for the first time in...Probably 15 years.

I didn't actually think I'd like them still because my tastes have changed

But they are really good

Don't be like Lance. Evolve them legally.

Speaking of which I should consider getting GO now that it's finally here in Canada. I never downloaded any apps on to my phone so this is going to be a first.

Just finished Steel Ball Run. It's truly, truly been a long, roundabout path, Thank you, Volga Volga
I've actually just started watching Jojo. I binged the whole first series. Joseph is easily one of the most entertaining characters I've come across in a while. Now I'm onto Stardust Crusaders.

I heard the 4th part got a series too, you think they'll animate it all the way to SBR?

Also, as an aside, it was this that prompted me to finally give Jojo a go:

I read the Phantom Blood manga and watched the SC OVA a long time ago, but that edit was so corny in the most awesome ways, I could help but dive in. Haha

this is somewhat relevant to my thoughts on pokken: if it didn't have field mode it would be a much better game.

not because "hurr camping is ResidentSleeper" but more because it's totally unnecessary to have it and makes the game super RPS

also if Pokken didn't have the obnoxious overuse of freezeframes that'd be great

http://sourcegaming.info/2016/07/18/sg-choice-favorite-sonic-game/

This was the article I was originally asked to provide a short write-up for, alongside my other article that comes out later this week. What was originally just meant to be a short paragraph detailing why I personally like Sonic Unleashed was requested to be turned into a full article. The reason I was going to do a short paragraph on Sonic Unleashed here for my choice, was because I figured games like the Classic trilogy and Generations would get mentions anyway, so I wanted to talk about one of my favourites that doesn't get mentioned on lists like this as often as those games. While making that full-blown article took way more time and effort, and I felt obligated to get a copy of Sonic Unleashed so I could play it again, I'm glad that's what I was asked to do instead, in the end.

For something I can sum up more simply, I'd say Sonic Generations is one of my other favourite games. It's mostly a true return to form for Sonic, being a very simple game that's much more accessible (you'll notice that I admit Unleashed isn't quite the most accessible Sonic game in my article). It doesn't quite have the ambition Unleashed had, but I didn't mind, because it was such a fun game and had a lot of cool stuff like remixes from many different composers, and some of these old levels just looked amazing on modern technology. And Classic Sonic came back, looking more adorable than he ever had before! I'd also say the level design in general was better than the daytime levels in Unleashed, and they improved the controls.

Also, the modding community got fairly big for it, which gave the game so much unofficial replay value (not that it lacked replay value to begin with).

So after 79 hrs and 9 minutes of playing, ACIV Black Flag has been completed at 94% overall.

Idk why those last few collectibles at Great Inagua have the area blocked so I can't access them. There's some optional missions I couldn't/didn't do in main sequences and for side activities I found around 60% of treasure chests. I dare not to touch any of the 4 legendary ships.

The start of the story did not interest me at all, but the middle bit with Black Beard was great and the last few sequences were even better. This game has finally been crossed off from my backlog. :)

I'm pretty sure the meme went:

"Don't talk to me or my wife's son ever again!"

As it was only ever funny as it was making fun of cuckhold nuMales. Then again, I could be wrong, so who knows.
...I don't think it was ever anything to do with social commentary on stereotypes.

Pretty sure it just originated from this edit of Cowboy Bebop.

Hm. . .

Let's say that somehow or other there actually was a highly extensive single player campaign for Smash 5 or whatever.

Let's say you can pick, hm. . .seven to nine bosses to fight against from various Nintendo/Smash series? Who do you go with?

My first pick might actually be DJ Octavio. Not sure if using a final boss is a bit much, but then after fighting like three or four different skyscraper sized monsters for final bosses in various games I think he's probably equivalent to a lot of the normal bosses in some games, LOL. He's certainly normal boss sized by Sonic and KI:U standards, just with the number of patterns of a final boss infused into him. He was fun as all heck when I went and tackled the Amiibo challenges, though, so he might be interesting in a 2D fight.

King Boo
King Dodongo
Colonel Pluck
Bonkers
Giratina (Origin Forme)
King Hippo (a uniquely character-sized boss)
Grima (the other end of the spectrum)
The Great Shugguth (or Starface if he works better)
DJ Octavio

Bouldergeist, or something like King Bob-Omb (Bowser's playable and Petey Piranha has been done, so...)
The Imprisoned or the Helmaroc (sp?) King
Kraid
Gigarilla or the Aparoid Queen
Magalor, Queen Sectonia, or Marx
The Hydra from KI:U
Eggman in the Big Arms Mech
Something from Bayonetta since I'm sure it has plenty of cool bosses to work with
Tabuu for old times sake I guess

What are Colonel Pluck and The Great Shugguth from? My gaming history knowledge has. . . a few holes in it.

Giratina actually crossed my mind for a bit, but I think that one might be a semi-common suggestion so maybe I don't have premonition powers, LOL.

His/their name is Hewdraw.

And LOL "something from Bayonetta since I'm sure it has something cool" is about what I would go with for that, too.

Colonel Pluck is from DKCR. Chicken in the mech suit.

The Great Shugguth (Starface too) is from Code Name: S.T.E.A.M.

I was gonna guess DKC from the name, but I couldn't be sure.

I don't think Code Name S.T.E.A.M. would have crossed my mind, but since I know what the concept of the game is it does make sense in retrospect.

Hewdraw (Kid Icarus)
DJ Octavio (Splatoon)
Dr. Eggman in the Death Egg Robot (Sonic)
Mecha Dragon (Mega Man)
Spooky (Pac-Man)
Hisstocrat (Mario)
Gigarilla (Star Fox)
Kraid (Metroid)
And the Mecha Dragon was one of the other few things I could think up in passing. That and just a general "something-something Eggman" thought. So pretty much everything I could think of was covered except Thanatos and Twinbellows, which everyone has simply opted to skip in favor of Hewdraw instead.

So to clarify, is everyone imagining the heads arguing with each other again for this fight? XD

Bouldergeist and Gigarilla have come up multiple times now, so perhaps I should look those up.

*EDIT* I own the game for the latter now that I've looked it up, actually. Hopefully I'll be in the mood to sit down and make it far enough to challenge it sometime.

Also I just remembered I was also thinking of a Manakete and a Telethia, but admittedly those ideas were pretty strongly on the generic side.

Not sure I know that many bosses. :p

But I would love:

Pandora (both forms) - KI
Fortitudo or that sword guy from B2 - Bayonetta
Some cool ones from Zelda and Metroid. Maybe Zant.

Reznor(Super Mario World)-because what could be more fun than a disappearing stage? That simple thought(and nightmares of my childhood) are what I think would make them a great boss

Moldorm(TLoZ: A Link to the Past)-speaking of childhood nightmares, how about a thing that pushes you off-stage? But this time it wouldn't just reset the fight, oh no, it would be worse...

Phantoon(Super Metroid)-Kraid is the obvious answer, so I tried to be more original. And yes, it only appears in Super Metroid, there was no other Metroid game with it. NONE!

Lugia(Pokemon Gold and Silver)-I thought of Shadow Lugia but I think just Lugia is better. A fight more focused on its water powers like whirpools and stuff(feat. windboxes) and its signature move Aeroblast(Windboxes 2: Electric Boogaloo) would be more fun(read as: frustating) than one with Shadow moves. Also because a Whirpool Island would be necessary and I WANT SOME GODDAMN JOHTO MUSIC

Dark Matter(Kirby's Dreamland 2)-I say Dreamland 2 because I'm talking about the sword wielding one falling from gods know how high at incredible speed and that would be just awesome. Physics would change so that you're always in the air meaning Mac is gonna have a hard time dealing damage. Oh well, it'd make for some interesting challenges

Fire Dragon(FE7: Blazing Sword)-HE'S BIG, HAS A STEALTHY 3 RANGE AND ALWAYS DEALS 37 DAMAGE. ALWAYS. THAT'S HIS GIMMICK GOODBYE

Plasm Wraith(Pikmin 3)-I'm getting tired of writing stuff, let's just say it does what it did in Pikmin 3, which is being a little ***** that won't die
