I'm not sure why Europe doesn't seem to understand they're enabling these attacks to happen by having the borders as free as they are.
These are becoming more and more common. It's got to stop.
Open borders =/= border security.
The EU is meant to have borders open between member states (for example, Portugal and Spain, or France and Germany), but those don't apply to borders with non-EU members (for example, Greece and Turkey).
The problem in Europe isn't the free borders but the fact that we failed to control the influx of refugees.
While I don't think the idea of helping those refugees in is a bad idea per se (because some of those people are truly desperate for a better place to be than war-torn Syria), there's no denying the risk of terrorists coming among them. (Let's face the facts: some of those refugees are fleeing from the same kind of people we Westerners don't want on our lands. Like running away from a nightmare only to have it come after you.)
There is the problem. We had no security measures or efficient ways of controlling the coming of refugees. We just opened the gate for them and now we're paying the price.
This was one of the motivations behind Brexit, after all.
Of course, leave it to people to take sides on "anti-migrants" or "pro-migrants". Between bigotry and political correctness, there's really no reasonable hope for compromise by now since fear and paranoia are already spreading. (+1 for the terrorists. What joy.)
I have to agree with

in this subject. I mean, an analogy would be inviting guests for your house. Tell me: you wouldn't want your guests to go around, break stuff and generally be some rude pricks, right? You would expect them to meet the hosts' standards and respect the home's ways, yes?
Well, Europe is the host, the refugees are the guests. If they want to be here and be respected, they should also respect our ways and understand this is a different place. Respect is a two way street and failure to understand that is a recipe for disaster.
