OK, if anyone wants a reason why dual audio might not happen, I actually went to look it up.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=525009

Long story short, Japanese voice actors are actually a nightmare to get to allow their voices to be used overseas.

System language settings may actually be a workaround to avoid having to pay massive royalties or deal with little princesses while still giving people the voice acting they want. If Nintendo does want subs, they'll have to get every Japanese voice actor to agree with their voices being exported.

I don't see them doing it with this specific game, but considering how much they've tried fixing other issues people have on that front I can see them offering the option in future games. That's part of why I feel this strong of backlash is a bit hasty, although I suppose it could also be useful in accelerating the process.

If there's a reason why they can't, then I would assume that they would eventually bring that to light instead. . .and then be ignored.
Bit random, but I've noticed a lot of your posts tend to like, dislike the idea of Nintendo being criticized. I've noticed this on multiple occasions, not just this time.

Do you dislike criticism of Nintendo?

So now it's cool to hate on Japanese VA's?
I kid....

Progress in Echoes....

Continuing forth through Dark Subterranean Torvus and I encounter the Grapple Guardian, which is possibly my favourite mini-boss of the Primes simply because of it's sick as **** design! I'm a little sad we don't get to battle an Alpha Grenchler though...That would've been a neat battle...

Shortly after...
Another one of my favourite bosses...Chykka...Can appreciate the scan data after the fight reassuring me that it's actually for sure dead this time...

It's really neat how the atmosphere changes after collecting the Light Energy from Dark Aether Temple and transfering it to it's Light World counterpart...Torvus gets a whole lot brighter afterwards...It's another one of those cool details that really helps make the world come alive...

After a small detour in the Temple Grounds collecting scan data on Blue's A-Kul's Clues for the Sky Temple keys (for those that don't know you have to scan these before getting the keys otherwise you miss out on the data) I finally head on my way to Sanctuary Fortress....

People who prefer subs are kinda dumb tbh. Here's the ONE reason they prefer them
Because they don't understand the language, they can't tell if it's good or bad voice acting unlike English. For example, in Japan, a scene in Kamen Rider Blade was a meme for a while because of how bad the delivery was. The line was "Are you really a traitor?" but it came out like "AROO REALA TRAITERRR?" They called the actor the Ondoru king, Ondoru being a corruption of 'honto uriigatta' or something

Honestly, I think I'm a bit sensitive around criticism in general, at least when I know enough about something to actually have an opinion. And sometimes when I don't, for that matter. I think it's a habit I picked up moreso following the Sonic fandom and simply carried over when various Nintendo fandoms started acting the same way.

That said, if I feel a criticism is level headed and takes all parts of a situation into account, then since there's so much criticism out there in general I tend to be more likely to leave it be. Criticism can be valid, but there's many times when people do it without taking everything into account. For example, when I researched this situation, I found the bit about Japanese voice acting that could cause an issue. I also feel that people tend to be a bit too emotional in the way they word their criticisms, which tends to involuntarily cause my feathers to ruffle up a bit more. And then they kind of stay ruffled afterwards. . .

That makes a great deal of sense and is a terrible shame considering the triviality of the technical side of things.

Unfortunately it's harder to find NeoGAF than Nintendo's Twitter and it's easier to blame Ninty than lawyers. They'll probably have to make a formal announcement or eat the press.

In her defense, this isn't a criticism that can be levied at Nintendo, other than how the communication was handled.

If the reasoning is solid, they're basically doing what they can with what they have.

I also feel that people tend to be a bit too emotional in the way they word their criticisms, which tends to involuntarily cause my feathers to ruffle up a bit more.

Ah, I see.

Criticism does outweigh positivity in number because the way the internet is and just for the fact it's a lot easier for people to express why they dislike something instead of why they like something. Also, the people who end up saying supportive things generally don't get responses from other positive people going "Yeah, man! I agree that's awesome!".

You can't do anything about how much people will criticize something, but what you can do is share positive traits and things you like and possibly respond to others who are being positive and boost more discussion in that direction.

No one's perfect or anything and everyone has what will set them off so that's understandable, but try ignoring the people that go too far with it or aren't trying to objective with their subjective opinions.

I don't think it's really all that fair to call those who prefer subs dumb.
Sure they may not understand the language, but the point is that they find it more immersive/enjoyable that way. It has nothing to do about whether or not they can tell if the voice acting is bad.
Square Enix releases two versions of Call of Duty in Japan, one subbed, one dubbed. The subbed one is more popular because it feels a lot more immersive to the players.

Oh gosh...

They all sound like they're half asleep.

Which reminds me of my favorite bad voice acting (from a game that's actually pretty good all things considered).

I'm SPECIFICALLY talking about the people who absolutely refuse to even look at a dub because it's inferior to the almighty Japanese dub. The same people who whine dubs/localizations aren't a 100% accurate translatio

Well, that's they're problem. They're annoying (and at times overbearing) but I still don't think it's fair to call them dumb unless they're becoming offensive about it.

Okay, started my conquest run.

The plot is getting rather odd right from the start.

Random thoughts:
- Effie's and Oboro's voice actors should have switched. Effie has the exact same voice that I expected from Oboro before she talked.
- I can tell the difficulty is slightly greater already, but here goes nothing.

Sorry, this joke just writes itself.

As if Mama Luigi's death was bad enough, another good meme hero died recently.

Crickey, poor dog.

Looks like I won't be smiling with joy when I listen to remixes like this anymore.

I know a lot of people like to watch subbed stuff because they can watch it earlier than having to wait for it to be dubbed. Though there are definitely people that get elitist about things but people get like that about a lot of things. Personally I think it depends on the show, some are super duper amazing dubbed like baccano and durarara. Though a lot of the time sub is great because even if the japanese voice actors are bad it's harder to tell than if english voice actors are bad because you don't understand the language so you can't really tell lol.

Exhibit A:

I was pulled up onto a stage at a theme park for an acting segment and I put more passion into it than that.

And that was a day when everyone including myself was cooking alive.

. . .TBH, the Digivice activation sequence felt like it was missing something as well, although that's an animation thing.

Sunflowmon has a nice design for a sunflower, though.

On the Digivice part, they're kinda not as flashy since a lot of characters had em that time instead of just the mains.

Subs coming out before dubs is usually why I watch shows subbed. Which is why Space Dandy was cool since both came out at once (in fact, the English dub came out before the sub)

Ah, that makes sense, they had to pump out a lot of them.

I think a couple of whooshing effects could have gone a long way since it seems a bit empty, but then every little bit of animation does cost quite a bit in time and money.

For those that missed it...Nintendo's uploaded the gameplay for the various games they showed off from the Treehouse....
This showcase is for Arms...

I have to say this game looks like it may be worth picking up...a good amount of depth and a taste of some differences in the stages shows how varied battling can be at times...In addition the characters having their own unique attributes and abilities...as well as different items...

I'm sure other characters will be revealed as time goes on, but I'm kind of hoping for a clown with those extendable boxing gloves...and perhaps a rope Scarecrow or something...

I mean, if you give both a shot and somehow prefer the Japanese version, that's absolutely fine. But not watching **** like Patrick Seitz yell "USELESS", seeing Christopher Sabat be the most pimping priest to exist and more because it isn't the Japanese voice is stupid. Anime has become mainstream, therefore we won't get 4kids tier dubbing ever again unless it was what was intended
