A Ganon game would also be awesome
I second this. I even pitched an idea for a Ganondorf game where it starts around the time he was born and would go all the way to the Great Flood event. IMO that would be the best LoZ spinoff ever.
This would be perfect, especially with inspiration from how they did his story in wind waker. It make for a really fun game imo.
Hey all. What's up?

Been a while since I last posted here. Anyway, the new Zelda looks amazing. I can't wait to try it out.

Hopefully, the NX will have compatibility with Wii U games, be it physical or via digital downloads.

After all, it's coming out in less than a year from now, so I suppose it's best to wait for the new console than buying a nearly dead one.

I still want to play Xenoblade Chronicles X, after all.

Anything else I missed? I'm up to date on E3 stuff, though aside from the new Zelda and a few more things, I wasn't too interested in many of the upcoming games. Not particularly hyped for anything else besides Zelda.

Nintendo's stuff was barebones in terms of new games. I don't have any console besides the 3DS, so the lack of 3DS was disappointing.

(Also, this site is lagging so much for me. Probably my PC, which has seen better days.)

I know, right?

Really like how they took a little bit of everything for Ganondorf in Hyrule Warriors. Great Swords or Trident, he's so much fun to play as.

That's a nice remix. The original is so different, though.

Might re-watch Parasyte one day. It's a great series.
true it's very different, but I liked it. the series was great to.

And miiverse is a mess but that's why it's funny.

But how can they really do that. I mean, I know VR is getting a lot of attention lately, but I'm pretty sure most people are still playing games on some king of screen, holding/touching some physical device. Seems to me those would be pretty constant reminders that your are not, in fact, part of the game world.

When people say that something "breaks immersion" for them, to me that just sounds like they're saying "I didn't like this thing." But trying to fancy it up a bit, or something.
It depends on the person really, it's different for everyone. I'll try to explain using a game I feel immerses me.

I'd say the game I've ever felt the most absorbed in, is Journey for the PS3 (it also got a remaster on PS4 recently). It's a linear experience, but it absorbed me for multiple reasons:

-You are completely isolated and alone throughout. Aside from a few spirits you meet, there are no NPCs. So you really get to know the world, and there are a lot of hidden secrets that allow you to learn more about the world.

-Beautiful, beautiful graphics. It's still one of the most beautiful games I've ever played.

-Although the game is linear (your goal is to reach the top of the mountain in the above screenshot), each section is somewhat open ended with different ways you can maneuver through it.

-Sublime controls. The core mechanics are very simple - you can fly upwards based on the length of your scarf (which you can extend by finding hidden collectibles). You also have a "call" command, which allows you to interact with various objects in the world. Your character's body is also very aerodynamic, so while falling, you can tilt your body downwards, and then back up again, to make yourself fly using pure momentum (think like Super Mario 64's Wing Cap, only much tighter in control). You can also slide down slopes of sand and what not. The game's controls flow as beautifully as the visuals.

-A moody yet memorable soundtrack that changes dynamically depending on what you are doing. It really sets the mood and gets you invested.

And then there is the main thing that makes Journey so special to me, and it's the main selling point of the game.

If you play the game while connected to PSN, the game will automatically connect you to random players and you can run into them as you journey towards the mountain. You can find one at a time.

But the game DOESN'T give you their PSN ID until you reach the end of your journey, where you can see the IDs of all of the players you met. So when you meet people, you're going in blind - there's also no voice chat, which is normally a detriment in online games. However, in Journey, the lack of voice chat enhances the social experience - and that's because of the call mechanic. You can use it like a sort of morse code to communicate with the companions you meet. It also can be used to restore each other's scarf energy, which you normally need to find special objects to do. You can use this to help each other fly to places you might not otherwise reach.

But the main thing here is that, despite playing with anonymous players with no voice chat, people's personalities come through in the game. Some players will ignore you. Some will just mess around playfully with you. Some will try to be your guide. Some will cry to you for help and will want you to stay by their side. And players can even draw messages in the sand and snow, or they might try to playfully wrap their scarves around you (I've had some people do this to me, it was really touching). I'll never forget the time where, at the end of one journey that I stuck with someone with throughout, they beckoned for me not to finish the game. Instead, they drew a love heart in the snow, and started making light calls (basically whispers) beside me, and wrapping their scarf around me. And we fluttered about in the mountains for a while before finishing the game. It was truly beautiful. And I've even received messages from some people I've played with, where they told me how much they loved playing with me. And these are complete strangers I couldn't directly speak to throughout the game. Yet despite that, I felt close to them. Connected to them.

This comic describes the feelings this game brings perfectly.

It's like, the people I was playing with could have been absolutely anyone. They could be students, poor people, rich people, criminals, young people, adults, something not even human...they could be anyone. Yet despite all of this, I felt the game really brought me close to these people that decided to journey with me. I saw the best of them, I was seeing them in their purest form. And that was fine.

It's just a beautiful game that I get lost in every time I play it, even if I don't run into anyone or people are dismissive. It's at it's best when people travel together, though.

I still haven't watched that, and I don't think I ever will.

See, back in the day when /a/ was pushing that meme hard to troll those who didn't know any better into watching it, I was smart enough to look up a summary on wikipedia, and call it a day. Yeah, I think I'll pass thank you very much.

Today, just about everyone knows what it is though. Try getting that recommended to you when nobody really knew what it was... Some people fell for some nasty surprises. Good laughs have been had though.

There was a problem fetching the tweet
Well there you have it.
That's it folks, I official know exactly why I am hyped for this more than Skylanders Feat. Gremlin Spyro and Crash. This game will look very beautiful in glorious HD, much more than Nuts & Bolts.

Please! For everyone's sake, please do not talk about that animated abomination again. Anything but THAT!
My reaction after looking up that... that... THING.
Robotnik Is Disturbed By This.PNG

Why would anyone allow that to exist?!

E3 2017 dates confirmed.

Let the hype train begin again, I guess.
Do they usually reveal the E3 dates for next year that soon? Becuase I think it was at least a few months after E3 last that they revealed this year's.

I've never got why people give so much importance to "immersion" when it comes to entertainment like video games. Can't say I ever really felt particularly "immersed" in any game I've ever played...whatever that means. Like, does immersion mean that you forget that you're playing a video game? How is that even physically possible?

..well, that's just my two cents on the matter. I'm guessing I'm in the minority, or that I'm just misunderstanding the concept, considering how many people talk about it and consider it so important for their entertainment. But what do I know.
I kiiiiinda get it. Like, I don't want constant framerate drops and weird graphical glitches to make me go "lol this game is well made" but I can't really get much deeper then that. I really can't put myself in the protagonist's shoes or anything like that because I'm thinking about the story from my pov or the gameplay too much. Even in the supposedly ultra immersive Metroid Prime or 999 I'm thinking as a gamer and not a character the entire time.

Oh yeah, why I stopped in to begin with:

Looks like Nintendo's chasing their blue ocean again instead of something "traditional." ...Either that or Reggie's completely off the mark again.

While I'm talking about the Sega Pico, its Japan-only successor, the Advanced Pico Beena (sounds like a Splatoon weapon to me) had Pokemon games on it, apparently.

Last year they revealed E3 2016 dates as soon as E3 2015 was over, so I'd say it's usual.

Also, I stopped PxZ2 for a bit since I was playing Planet Robobot and Endless Frontier recently. But I played a few chapters today, and...

I FREAKING LOVE THIS SONG

The worst part of the chapter was when you put out all the fires and the music stopped.... :(

Yeah, 4 edutainment games based on the anime.
Ah, I see we have a Pico master here. I'll defer to you on it, since I know hardly anything about those consoles.

That brings back some serious PSO memories... I spent way too much time playing that game, haha.

Recently, I've been thinking about the Wii U and my favorite things about that console. Realistically, it was a really good console with a very good library of games. I think one feature in particular really makes it one of Nintendo's best console, and this feature really comes from a mistake on Nintendo's part.

The Wii U being able to play GameCube and Wii titles alongside the current Wii U library on one console due to the system having Wii backwards compatibility and the same architecture. While it kind of requires homebrew to play GCN titles, it's cool how we have a system that can play 3 generations of Nintendo systems with just the use of the hardware mainly due to some oversights.

The image also cleans up pretty well via HDMI when your playing GCN or Wii software (although they kinda' look to jaggy...).

Just bought Rhythm Heaven Megamix off the eShop and it's currently downloading!

Looking forward to this the most:
No, I'd buy the game for this alone.

(Why is their stomach fat as they clap just so mesmerizing...?)

But this song and Heartbroken Bear are my favorites out of the ones I've seen so far.

So as I said the other day, with the remakes for Crash and Skylanders, I think Sony will make a true effort to bring him back. One of these ways I think will be going about getting him in the next smash game as it's beneficial to both parties and would be amazing. I came up with a fun trailer idea. I'll spoil it though, and if you want give thoughts!

The trailer starts out without the smash slash or any indication that it's a smash game. Reggie is casually walking through the hall ways of NOA. As he walks, Mario( In an actual suit) runs by him. Reggie ponders what Mario's doing and as he walks we see various doors. Such as training room where we hear link practicing. The Snack room, where we hear kirby, a Greenhouse room with pikmin sounds, and animal crossing sound effects. A art room with the inklings shooting paint, etc. Reggie eventually ends up at a door labeled meeting room. Reggie sits down and we don't get to see everyone he addresses right away. There's some regular people, but then there's miyamoto, anouma, Masuda, and more we don't see because of the angle. Reggie welcomes them all commenting how they have a lot to do for the NX! and 3ds He starts and asks Anounma how's Zelda BOW doing? He talks about how the graphics are great and the game's set to go! Reggie asks Masuda how pokemon is going along, and he tells him how great the team's doing.

Reggie then turns to Miyamoto and asks him about Pikmin 4. Miyamoto assures him how the team has finished and the game will be ready to go soon! Reggie then asks, "Now about the new Mari.... a horn is blown outside the building attracting everyone's attention. Reggie looks out and we see the parking lot.

Inside the lot is a a big pickup truck with speakers in the back. Out of the car steps a figure that we don't see. Reggie goes "is that..." but is interrupted.

"Hey Plumber Boy! Mustache Man! Your worst nightmare is back!"

Mario and Luigi come outside to face the man calling them out. It's revealed to be Crash.

Crash: I'm finally back baby! I'm here to let you know, I'll be stealing the fame once again! The new PS4 is super powerful and comes with the return of me! Prepare yourselves boys!

*Crash spins around the two dizzying them.

Mario: Oh ho ho! We'll A see about dat!

Luigi: Uh huh!

Switches back to the conference room.

Reggie points at someone we don't see. As he leaves the room, Bill Trinen walks by with a box of his stuff.

Reggie: Bill come with us!

Bill: But you fired me!

Reggie: Your re hired for now!

The three leave and we then switch back to outside. Mario and Luigi are talking about how their new system will be better. crash goes, what system?

Reggie and Bill appear, the third person is behind them hidden.

Reggie: This system! The NX! Our latest Console! We'll taking it to E3 with all our new games, and we'll see who's better!

Crash: Even if your system somehow wins, Meme Man, I still have superior skills to your mascots!

Mario and Luigi: Oh a Yeah?

Crash: Yeah!

The third man steps forward as the other developers come outside to witness what's going on.

It's Sakurai!

* Speaks Japanese with Subtitles on screen.

Crash: What?

Reggie: Mr. Sakurai says the only way to settle this, is in SMASH!

*Cue Gameplay and announcement of Smash NX

The point of it is to setup E3 and smash, sort of like the Wii U and 3ds one.

*crawls out of grave*

Hey that new Zelda game was pretty dank!

It really looks like they're getting that perfect balance of fun gameplay and innovation/changes to the franchise, which is something I've always thought Nintendo has really needed to work on when it comes to their game designing philosophy.

Some examples of them trying so hard to do something new, and seemingly forgetting about the core of a franchise and what makes it fun include Sticker Star, Skyward Sword (which I enjoyed playing, but the motion controls were new for the sake of being new, and didn't really add many actual improvements or opportunities), Dark Moon (which I thought was alright, but didn't feel like the original; it had a too heavy focus on puzzles, the spooky atmosphere was more "little kids' Halloween costumes" spooky than the actual eeriness of the original, mostly due to the music, the overall world design, and especially the ghost designs changing and them becoming a "species" and not a cool, dead family), but I digress, and I don't want to be a Negative Nancy.

I am very excited to see what Nintendo has coming up for the NX, especially if Zelda (and I suppose also Splatoon) is just the beginning of a period of Nintendo taking influences from what is popular (in Zelda's case, big open-world, survival, dungeon-raiding, boss fighting, treasure-hunting adventure games) and putting their own unique "Nintendo" twist on it. Now that's not to say they still can't do the tried and true things that don't have much room (or need) for true innovation, but rather improvements each time, like Mario Kart or Smash, or even the main series.

I was thinking that this new philosophy could be the focus of the NX, with it being a console with good specs like the PS4 and Xbox One, but also still being "Nintendo," but I was kinda let down when I saw that video with Reggie saying they don't care about the specs.

They keep saying that they don't care about specs, and only care about making the best games possible. What they don't seem to realize is that you can make better games with better specs. Majora's Mask 64 and Majora's Mask 3D are almost the exact same game. Of course, MM3D is superior because it is on a much more powerful system, and it even does some new things that the N64 simply couldn't.
I'm also praying this doesn't screw them over with the 3rd parties like with the Wii U.

Ah well, I guess we'll just have to wait it out and see what happens.

Anyways, it's good to be back! After spending several months refining my memes I can confirm that the rumors are true. My meme game is on point.

TL;DR - New Zelda is cool because Nintendo is changing stuff up, while still keeping the core of the franchise in mind, unlike the unnecessary changes and overhauls of games like Sticker Star, which tried so hard to be new that they weren't actually fun.

I like that with Breath of the Wild, Nintendo is taking influences from other big games, like Dark Souls in specific, and putting their own Nintendo spin on it. I hoped they'd do this with the NX and make it a high-specs console equal with the XBO and PS4, but Reggie kinda shot that down so I'm frustrated because better specs can make better games and Nintendo doesn't seem to realize that.

Also my memery is now on point.

Actually that be great, imagine:

Sakurai( in Japanese)

We should probably call animal control, there's a wild bandicoot here.

Reggie goes: "Bill what did Sakurai say?"

Bill: That we should settle it in smash.

Reggie: sounds good.

Sakurai is left very confused lol.

EDIT: And thanks for pointing that out, fixed the Bill thing lol.
