I have reasons to believe that both still have a future...

While we have seen the future of franchises sit on the success/failure of single games in the recent past with FE Awakening and Chibi-Robo Ziplash...I don't believe either Star Fox or Metroid are done...

Star Fox Zero was released at the tail-end of a failing system's life cycle, and was one of the last major exclusive titles to be released on the system...It also has very polarizing controls and is another unwanted reboot to the series, of course it was going to fail...

As for Metroid...Let me remind people that Nintendo expected Federation Force to have backlash...mind you they did not anticipate that it would be as bad as it was but they still knew it's not the game that fans have wanted...But they also have acknowledged that fans were disappointed, they even acknowledged the petition to cancel the game...which that in and of itself is a pretty big indication that Nintendo isn't ready to can the series as a whole...
The following year to it's reveal we saw a whole segment about Federation Force in their spring direct which was basically nintendo trying to convince fans that it's worth their time...in other damage control...

And with plans for games in the future I doubt they will hang up the series due to a spin-off...We may never get a Federation Force 2 at all in the future but I don't see them outright abandoning the series...

Nintendo seems to have a better plan of attack with the Switch going in...and barring Wii U like sales I can easily see new respectable titles for Metroid, Star Fox AND F-Zero going in...

Complaining to Nintendo is actually what fans need to be doing, because there's no other way for the company to know about our concerns if we say nothing...Nintendo needs to understand why a game fails, and that it's not because of a lack of interest in the franchise...

I don't think I said that Nintendo will abandon SF and Metroid, did I? I think I said that Nintendo will not do another SF or Metroid game before a long time due to how SF Zero and Federation Force were failure when it come to critic and sell. (Really tough, Federation Force failure was more due to being released at the wrong time. If the game was released when the franchise was much better. It wouldn't have so much problem. SF Zero however is just Nintendo (or in my opinion, Miyamoto) trying to sell another SF 64 remake with gimmicky control and a graphic update, while people were asking a new SF.

And F-Zero...well, call me a pessimist, but as long Miyamoto will try to "bring something new" to every game he work. A new F-Zero will probably not happen until a very long time. And if it does, I expect something will piss off the fan.

Also, we all know how Mega Man fallen despise being Capcom greatest franchise. Despise the good games in the series, a dark ages was just enough for Capcom to let the Bluer Bomber in the trash with Darkstalker and other franchises who didn't perform well enough to get any more sequel. The company are different, but Nintendo coudl very well stop one of their franchise at any moment.

Brief, what I try to say is that, **** 2016. Let's hope 2017 is better for gaming.

Dinner party, watching some fan favorite Aussie films, pouring glasses, having the usual New Year resolutions, Twitter stuff, and binge playing Senran Kagura Deep Crimson.

Can safely say this was a far better New Year's Party than last year for the sole reason that I'm out of that freezing city and with my real family.

Definitely one of the best vacations ever spent.

I don't think the comparison applies, Emily just came out of nowhere with no history, Rogersbase is just a youtuber who covers multiple stuff like manga updates but Laura's not only a journalist, but a journalist who was recently blacklisted from a Nintendo event and someone who actually got her stuff right, she knew it wasn't called Wii Something and leaked the day it was at

Preemptive Happy New Years to everyone here (and a regular one to where it already happened)! This year has not been the greatest for me personally or the world in general. That being said, I still plan to live the best I can in 2017, despite all the uncertainty ahead. Too many of people before made too many sacrifices for me to back down. Rabbids Go Home is pretty darn good.

I think it was the fact that they never did more with that formula that sort of killed my interest in the Rabbids, as I did like them back in the day. Not so much hate, just indifference.

My main point was that Nintendo is aware of the shortcomings of their recent releases (at least for Fed Force, I'm not sure what they feel about SFZ's failure other Miyamoto wishing Star Fox was more popular)

We got a brand new system on the way and Nintendo is looking to bounce back from the Wii U...making them more liable to listen to what fans are saying (at least I would both assume and hope they would)...

I don't expect a new Metroid for launch though I do believe there is one in the works (we just won't see it for a year or two)...Star Fox may take a couple years since Star Fox Zero is not even a year old at this point and whether it did well or not we won't see a new entry for a little while...

Eh, seeing leaks get disproven can be pretty interesting , but I prefer to save my outright schadenfreude for the leakers that actually leave a bad impression on me. Emily and Laura have had a couple of odd moments, but they're both pretty well behaved for the most part.

There was this one leaker that I forget the name of (if I did remember it it'd probably cause a fuss anyway, I think he was popular and remained so even after he was proven wrong) who had a reputation on GameFAQs for being a troll and started acting REALLY rude in threads I happened to start reading. But yet despite that, everywhere else I went people were just lapping up everything he said. That one was pretty fun to see turn out to be a fake leaker, but other than that I haven't really had any times where I've enjoyed myself.
