Yes, it is. Seeing five seconds of a game and assuming you know the details of how it'll work is absolutely putting the horse before the cart. That's the reason everyone else is comparing it to 64 and Galaxy, not a single game in particular. It's not because we're saying they're the same thing. It's because what we do know, how Mario and the camera function, or what we've been told: the hub world, the multiple levels with multiple objectives, is similar to both. That's the exact reason it's being compared to both, because, despite your beliefs, we don't yet know enough to narrow it down further. I think it's fairly presumptuous to think otherwise.

But I'm not going to convince you, and that's fine. Without additional footage I'm not going to be convinced either. I guess we'll wait and see. Either way it's not a huge deal, 64 and Galaxy are both infinitely preferable to how linear SM3DW was imo.

Well to be fair, Ghost in the Shell is a very Japanese story and instead of finding a Japanese actor they just white-washed it and put in Scarlett. Any Asian person is then put into the background.

That said, despite being problematic, I'm looking forward to it, it looks really good. A lot of anime adaptions have failed, but I think part of that reason is that they were done by inexperienced teams. Ghost in the Shell at least looks like it has a great team behind it.

I hope it's not bad for sure. In visual department, they get vets from Weta. So on that front, the movie at least looks good.

The director, Rupert Sanders, only did that Snow White and the Huntsman movie from 2012 before this. The main writer Jonathan Herman, did Straight Outta Compton. A good movie for sure, but I don't know if he has the chops for a cyber punk story.

I'm a fan of Stand Alone Complex in particular. While I have kinda low expectations for this, I hoped to be pleasantly surprised. But I'm not holding my breath.

I don't know man. A lot of the core themes of GiTS are pretty Japanese and tied to that culture. I don't think the Human Torch is that bound to that sort of thing.

Because the Fantastic Four isn't a very Japanese story about very Japanese people in a very Japanese society. When it's not an integral part to their identity, which it's not in a lot of Western stories, swapping them around is not an issue.

Fullmetal Alchemist is a Japanese movie though, and Japan is a very homogeneous nation. They're doing the best with what they got. Had it been done by a Western studio, then then go all out. Japan isn't a very integral part to FMA's story.

These are are the director and writers of the GiTS movie in that order. Like I mentioned before, not that much experience really. Who knows? Maybe they'll make a big break with this one. I'll wait and see on this. My expectations are in check.

Speaking of Japanese live action films, I at least found Assassination Classroom a decent picture. Sure Koro-Sensei is an obviously low budget CGI being and Irena doesn't have an actual Russian playing as her, but I respect the film for sticking with the manga's charm very well. Even scenes like this were well adapted.



Much better than the typical lower budget video game films that barely cover the source material or look professional. Like Fatal Frame. I wouldn't even be surprised if the Hollywood film happens to be better than the Japanese one, whenever it wants to crawl out of development hell.

Mokoto isn't bad because when you watch anime, you learn that Japan loves to use white features on their characters. There's rarely any Asian features on them and Mokoto isn't Japanese. She's a robot, she has no race.

People just assume that if it's from Japan then everyone should be Japanese.

It's why I fear that if GITS gets great then more anime will get adapted and we might get Black Lagoon love action movie but will make Revy (a character who has an American background) Japanese because where the source material is from

Here's the best argument about this thing: Is their race different than the source material? Like black Human Torch? That failed fantastically (heh) because the Storms were always biologically the same, suddenly changing that for no reason is dumb, like having a young actor play Roshi in DB Evolution. So I have a melee tournament on friday. I haven't played smash in weeks, which is bad for my health, so I decided to get in some practice with the main and secondaries just now.
I finally discovered, and got the hang of, Lucina's dair spike. I'm so happy right now. I was wondering if I had to hit with the tip to spike. Then I got a lucky spike, slowly replayed it, and remembered that Lucina's Falchion is stronger at the middle of the blade.
Apparently 98% of the time I use dair I hit with the tip...or sourspot, whichever of those she has. I also practiced the Jab 1 lock to fsmash. I got jab 1 to hit 4 times before using fsmash, is it possible to use jab 1 any longer, or is 4 the max before i have to fsmash?
