It's time for the next Pokemon poll!

Now that we've looked at our favorite Gym Leaders and Elite Four members from each member, it's time we move on to the final spot in the Pokemon League...

Who is your favorite Pokemon Champion in the main series?

This guy!

Steven Stone is easily my favorite champion in the series. Not only does he have an awesome and suave design; he's also a really memorable character. You encounter him pretty often in R/S/E, but he gains a much bigger story presence in the OR/AS. In those games, he's the one that tells you about Mega Evolutions, helps you obtain Latios/Latias, and even gains a pretty big presence during the Delta Episode. Did I mention Steven has a great personality? He is wise and kind, but even he has that relatable attitude towards his parents sometimes (demonstrated with his dialogue with his father in the Delta Episode); his rock-collecting hobby is also pretty fun. Steven is also a total badass, and he can be serious when the situation calls for it (some of Steven's best moments are in the X/Y anime, especially during the Team Flare arc).

Did I mention he has my favorite champion theme and favorite track in the entire series? Seriously, just listen to this masterpiece!

^This track ALWAYS gets me pumped and makes my adrenaline run wild. It's a total shame it hasn't appeared in Smash yet. He also has a memorable team of some tough Steel and Rock-types, and said team becomes tougher to take down in the remakes (as long as you're not using Primal Groudon). Steven Stone has been my favorite champion ever since I've played Ruby, and I have a feeling this won't change any time soon.

I will say that Cynthia was a very close second though for similar reasons: cool design, great story presence, great character, excellent theme song (probably right behind Steven Stone's theme IMO), and a memorable and very challenging team (definitely the hardest Champion team I ever fought). I have a feeling she and Blue/Green will win this poll. We'll see.

How do I decide?
Well, I can eliminate alder, iris, and diantha because diantha had like one appearance outside of the league, and because unova.
I can eliminate wallace and lance because they're nowhere near steven and red and blue.
So that leaves steven, red, blue, and cynthia.......
So I have to decide between myself from a previous game, gary mother****ing oak, steven or c<3nthia.
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh eenie meenie minie moe says cynthia. So I'll vote for her.

Green, and it's not even close.

While other future champions have done better than him in both being involved in the story and as a challenge, none of the other champion battles feel as personal as his, which I feel adds to the atmosphere a lot.

It was the perfect way to close off your journey. The guy who, not only is your childhood friend, but also is your long time rival, finally get to meet at the biggest stage of them all. While you're both at your best.

It helps that he's actually a challenge too, speaking strictly in terms of Gen 1. Forget how broken it is, that didn't matter when you were 7 or 8 years old and you could only think "how the **** do I get through this Alakazam."

After him I'd have to go with either Cynthia or Steven. I don't particularly care for either's character or involvement in the story, but I enjoyed their battles a lot. The rest of the Champions have been ok to meh (Lance, Alder and Diantha were honestly boring, Iris was alright, I have no idea what they were thinking with making Wallace champion and I don't count Red as champion but just as a separate final challenge).

This is why I picked Blue

A boring team that has 3 Dragonites, doesn't do a whole lot in the main game and Red overshadows him as far as being a final boss goes.

Every Creepyasta?
Don't get me wrong, there is ALOT of ****ty creepypasta out there. (You could almost call creepyasta a sub-genre of Mary Sue fanfiction)
But there is still some good one here and there, it's just you have to pass alot of ****ty one before finding one that is actually well writted and scary.
But yeah....Creepypasta now today aren't very good. Heck, some good old one are now considered bad because of their overwhelming popularity that just removed the scary factor that make those story popular in the first place. (Poor Slender Man, the mighty have really fallen)

Well the Dragon master didn't really get a lot to work with in Johto...

Although he gets a stronger more diverse team in HG/SS remakes at least with the rematches...

Diantha is probably my least favorite over all, but I think Alder was pretty memorable.

Alder was a "people's champion," if that makes sense. Whereas some champions used it more as a title of prestige (basically all others beside Steven and Cynthia) Alder used his title to take care of the people. He wasn't holed up with official league matters; he was out and about helping people throughout the region and being really personable. Then there was the whole speech he gave Cheren about how strength isn't everything, which he learned after his Larvesta starter died.

You just got the sense that battling itself was secondary to him, and his top priority was getting to know, aiding, and protecting the people of Unova. Basically, being a symbol of what one should be. A role model. And hey, half his team is Bug, so that's neat.


The one thing I will say, though, is his fight theme was underwhelming.

As for my least favourite Champion....it's between Iris and Diantha honestly...

I felt Iris to be rather underwhelming as a Champion...despite having a team full of Dragons...probably doesn't help that I don't really like her theme at all...tbh I think it would've been cool if Cheren was the Champion instead...it would've really built him up as a character a lot more and with Hilda/Hilbert MIA there wasn't really anyone else to stop him from going all the way...

Diantha was also rather underwhelming...I like her design with that angelic motif as well as being based off of Audrey Hepburn (since she is a movie star) and she's got a decent theme song, but apart from that her character got barely any development in X and Y (keep in mind I haven't watched much of the anime so I don't know how she was showcased there) and her team felt...strange...

Voted for Cynthia, because she was the first champion I ever fought, is quite challenging, and has a great theme.

I always wondered why they didn't give Kingdra to Lance in his initial team. I know it's Clair's main, but that didn't stop Clair from sharing the Dratini line and Gyarados in the remakes (and she gets Dragonite anyway in her rematches), so they might as well have just thrown the repeat on him and mix up its moveset a bit for a bit more variety then just repeating Dragonite three times with a slight moveset difference. It would've made his battle more memorable and make his team slightly more fitting of the type thematic he's supposed to have.

As a character, it was nice to see some progression with his character through his positioning, but I feel characters like Caitin and Cheren did that better, especially the latter since it factors into his character development.

As for my least favourite Champion....it's between Iris and Diantha honestly...

I feel it would've went against Cheren's character development for him to be Champion. The entire point of his arc is that he wants to be strong, but he's not thinking past that point and is exclusively focusing on strength. So when Alder questions him and he starts to realize that there's more then just strength, he starts to reassess himself and reconsiders going after the Championship. Him being a Gym Leader fits his character a lot more since he's now understood that being at the top isn't what strength's all about and he's helping others reach their potential, which I think is a much stronger conclusion to his story then being the Champion would be.

Iris I'll always defend for why she was made Champion as her story actually did fit with the motif the games established. Alder and Drayden's characters were all about the young surpassing the old, and Iris was being groomed just for that by the latter and is said to have a lot of potential. So for her to become Champion actually brings all three of those character's stories to their proper conclusion since she surpasses the other two, like they wanted, and she reaches the potential she's supposed to have. Her issue was more that she isn't all that involved in the story and her team (at least her non-Challenge mode one) was kind of lackluster, though unlike Diantha, she gets saved by her Memory Link and having a role in BW.
