That has absolutely nothing to do with what I said.

Context. Context is important.
I said it because you suggested that if they were to reboot the roster, Jigglypuff would most likely be cut. I have a hard time seeing that, as she's a very iconic Pokemon.

All these people attention-****ing saying "I have info gaiz I swear!" is scarier than a floating shopping list and F.O.E. combined.
Seriously right now I feel like

I said that of the Original 12 she'd be the most likely to get the axe. That's a much different scenario. Once again, context.

Let's be honest, no fighting game series will be as bad with cut and veteran fighters as Mortal Kombat.

Everyone in that series got cut from future titles except for Sub-Zero.

Yep, Scorpion wasn't in vanilla MK3 but came back in UMK3

Although Soul Calibur is reaching that point since 5 decided to cut fan favorites from the series and replace them with generic and bad wannabes

That's a common technique in various industries though.
I would believe that but the Robin reveal and ESRB leak proved that leaks and rumors don't mean jack and they have a set schedule.

Not all companies pay attention to leaks. Street Fighter V got leaked multiple times and Mortal Kombat X's roster got leaked twice

So, Undertale, been hearing a lot about it recently. Worth checking out?

Oh, I see, I'd say that I agree with you, but I'm having hard time about thinking of any of the originals being cut.

King of Fighters can be pretty bad about it too.

The only time you can expect everyone to come back is for the Dream Match games.

What Opossum Opossum said about Jigglypuff actually has very strong evidence pointing in its favor.

In case you didn't know, Jigglypuff barely made it into Brawl. This is backed both by instance slots (Internally, Jigglypuff is listed near the bottom with Wolf, Toon Link, and the Forbidden Seven, while the rest of the original 12 are at the top of the list), and by Jigglypuff's lack of a real role in SSE.

In the event anyone from the original 12 were to be cut, Jigglypuff is far and beyond the most likely. To the point where I'd say she's more likely to be cut than some of the Melee and Brawl vets are.

I chalk that up to timeline flubs. But that is true.

Rock Howard hasn't appeared in a KOF game yet despite being in the Mark of the Wolves.

Atleast anime fighters don't suffer from this, Guilty Gear is gonna bring back almost everyone by this point

Haven't played it yet, but:
I'll just let this song make that decision for you.
i looove the bass-heaviness of this arrangement
this is sorta like the creator's... not really totaka's song, but something like it?
he's used it in his earthbound romhack, homestuck, and now this

Man, Rock in KOF feels so much of a pipedream now (especially since they went back to using the classic Fatal Fury characters for XII and XIII).

I do wonder what will become of Ash though.
Since he's canonically erased from existence, he'd be the only protagonist not to return lol

This could also cause problems with Elizabeth since a lot of her character revolved around him /shrug

Well, stop and think about it. These 'roster reboots' Opossum Opossum is talking about usually have fewer characters total than previous entries, and lots and lots of cuts. A soft reboot would probably have about 30 characters, and at least 5 of them would be new, if not a full 10.

Do you still see Jigglypuff as an unlikely cut?

He was in KOF Maximum impact, but then again its not canon and might as well be in a different universe/ timeline :p

Huh, I guess Jiggs is the most likely to get cut out of the originals, as much as it pains me.

I downloaded the Undertale demo, it works on my Mac! So I might have to consider buying one day!
The gameplay is so unique, an RPG with action. There should be a new genre called bullet hell RPG.

Yeah but nobody likes any of the 3D KOF games.

Rock's last great appearance was and still is Capcom vs SNK 2.

Atleast some teams did return. Team USA from KOF 98

Just curious, is Yokai Watch considered a First Party franchise at all?
As everyone said, L-5 owns it. And add to that Nintendo is only publishing it in the west as their only involvement with the series.

Developed by Level-5 soooo...
It's owned by Level Five.

So it's third party.
nope
it's third party like layton

Thank you guys. I was just making sure as I kind of had a theory regarding the series, but that really hindered it lol.

Oh for the love of
There was a problem fetching the tweet
There was a problem fetching the tweet
All these people seem to conveniently know this rumor that is more vague then a text leak. Conveniently, they won't delve into what it is, in fear of possibly breaking some sort of trust, even though they made it known that they know the leak in the first place, already possibly breaking some levels of trust. Conveniently, despite all of these people being aware of this rumor it has not even gotten close to "leaking" yet, not even on anonymous boards.

How convenient. I'm starting to suspect that some claiming to have info were taken for a ruse cruise, or trying to ruse themselves. With that said, I also believe that so many people aren't in some sort of cohoots or conspiracy, so I believe that a few of them may possibly have info and believe something will drop, legitimate or not.

He says he wouldn't put it past Nintendo of Japan to delay an announcement to try and kill a rumor, or to shut up a leaker in the company.

So if an announcement ends up not happening this month, I wouldn't write off these sources that we're hearing from.
I won't be anywhere near as forgiving.

Already the rumor is set up so vague and unspecific that a lot can be pointed at and go "see, we were right!" regardless of whether it was actually a leak or just bandwagoning. When the date passes and nothing happens, I'm not going to entertain for the next month of "well, they could have been right but Nintendo decided to not to announce it for reasons!". That's far too much leeway and grasping for mere, unverified rumors. Not even leaks, rumors. It's like saying a trailer was going to be shown but the data got corrupted, for reasons.

When the clock strikes the last hour and nothing happens, I will immediately conclude that the rumors and it's sources were not reliable, as they did not prove to be reliable despite the overwhelming vagueness. I'm not going to entertain that Nintendo pushed it back just to thwart them without anything substantial to back up that claim.

I'm sorry but, seriously, anyone saying Inklings aren't super popular have not looked at numbers at all. Splatoon outsold Mario Kart 8 in numbers and Mario Kart 8 has been around for a long time. Splatoon is also CONSTANTLY played, in fact I know more people that play Splatoon on a regular basis than Smash Bros or any other Wii U game. (it's actually just in It's something that's going to stay alive for a long time and the majority of people absolutely love that game and the characters. There's no reason the Inklings don't deserve a spot in THIS Smash Bros just because they're new. When something outsells Mario Kart 8 that freakin fast, it is incredibly beloved.

It's third party. Just like Professor Layton, Level-5 owns the IP, but Nintendo happens to publish the games outside of Japan.

? MK8 hasn't been outsold by Splatoon yet. Outpacing though? Probably, but it could stop a bit short before MK8's final sales in the end.

It has outsold Smash Bros Wii U in Japan though. That says a lot. So you are right otherwise.

I don't think so. I remember most boxing characters in fighters and Heavy D hasn't been in a KOF game in a while, Vanessa is the resident boxer currently in the series

I decided to join in on the Undertale train too and changed my avatar from Clownpiece to Papyrus. That said, I'll be getting the game after my exams are over, and I'm looking forward to seeing it for myself! Maybe it'd be a bit of practice before Touhou...?

Regardless, direct talk - do you think we'll meet Mr. Kimishima in his first direct as current Nintendo President?

I will say this, though. When there comes a point in Smash where there's a roster reboot of sorts (which, let's face it, will eventually happen. You can't just keep adding fighters forever without heavy subtraction, otherwise the roster would look like Too Many Cooks.), Jigglypuff would definitely be the first of the Original 12 to go. But honestly? I don't think any of the others would, not even Ness. Hell, I'd say they'd probably cut Falcon at this rate before Ness. They just seem to really respect and almost cherish Earthbound over at Nintendo, with the really surprisingly nice advertising the VC games got, and all. They seem incredibly aware of the Earthbound fanbase at this point.

So yeah, even in the case of a full-on gigantic cut-fest, I have a hard time picturing anyone but Jigglypuff from the Original 12 getting cut.
That new smash concept is great for a topic! As in:

If there was a smash reboot akin to Street Fighter III, tons of new characters and little to no returning, with a lot of obscure characters to fill in the slots. Who would be your dream roster?

Let's keep this simple with a 12 character hypothetical roster. Mario is a mainstay (like Ryu in SF3) but you get the choice for flagship character. Any ideas?
