All these people seem to conveniently know this rumor that is more vague then a text leak. Conveniently, they won't delve into what it is, in fear of possibly breaking some sort of trust, even though they made it known that they know the leak in the first place, already possibly breaking some levels of trust. Conveniently, despite all of these people being aware of this rumor it has not even gotten close to "leaking" yet, not even on anonymous boards.
How convenient. I'm starting to suspect that some claiming to have info were taken for a ruse cruise, or trying to ruse themselves. With that said, I also believe that so many people aren't in some sort of cohoots or conspiracy, so I believe that a few of them may possibly have info and believe something will drop, legitimate or not.
He says he wouldn't put it past Nintendo of Japan to delay an announcement to try and kill a rumor, or to shut up a leaker in the company.
So if an announcement ends up not happening this month, I wouldn't write off these sources that we're hearing from.
I won't be anywhere near as forgiving.
Already the rumor is set up so vague and unspecific that a lot can be pointed at and go "see, we were right!" regardless of whether it was actually a leak or just bandwagoning. When the date passes and nothing happens, I'm not going to entertain for the next month of "well, they could have been right but Nintendo decided to not to announce it for reasons!". That's far too much leeway and grasping for mere, unverified rumors. Not even leaks, rumors. It's like saying a trailer was going to be shown but the data got corrupted, for reasons.
When the clock strikes the last hour and nothing happens, I will immediately conclude that the rumors and it's sources were not reliable, as they did not prove to be reliable despite the overwhelming vagueness. I'm not going to entertain that Nintendo pushed it back just to thwart them without anything substantial to back up that claim.
