マルス can indeed be transliterated as Mars and it's a way to write the name of the Roman god of war, Mars, in Japanese.

Though the name Marth stuck ever since Melee. The "Marth" transliteration appeared in the Japanese version, as well as how the announcer pronounces it. Ironically, he's called Mars in the internal files.

And since we american types are by far the biggest consumers around the holidays... yyyeah.

It was Thracia, I remember because it's in one of the first chapters you play. If I'm to be honest though, compared to what else that game throws at you, Fog of War was one of the least things to be worried about (like staves missing).

That's actually from the 4koma/character book, not anything official, so I wouldn't use that as an indicator for what the names should be.

Come to think of it, aside from Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, just about all of the remaining North American first party Wii U releases this year are games that have already been out in other regions (Woolly World, Xenoblade X, etc).

Technically Splatoon is considered a Holiday game and they are advertising it heavy as of still.

There's also them advertising last year's stuff as well like Smash, Mario Kart and as of late Hyrule Warriors to get people ready for Legends. And Kirby Rainbow Curse

Last Year's lineup was something I think they really couldn't top.

Remember, Smash 4 on Wii U and Pokemon ORAS were released on the same day. And the moth before was Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, Captain Toad, Smash 3DS and the other stuff like Mario Kart 8 and DKC: Tropical Freeze

I don't think they are killing them off. Rather, they are trying one last big push to get him into the spotlight. Nintendo did the same thing with Fire Emblem and Starfox and it worked. I wouldn't worry too much. The amiibo is a solid idea, and will push a lot of copies. Plus the fact its an action title will introduce it to a wider audience.

Nah, they're trying their best to save it. They made an amiibo for him because they know how crazy people go for them. Think about it- we got a Chibi-Robo amiibo before someone like Waluigi or Daisy, fairly prominent MARIO characters.
