Yeah, we were all joking about how if Isaac made a 1 second cameo in the intro of Aces it would be more than anything he's gotten in this generation of gaming.

Which is both hysterical and sad at the same time.

As much of a joke as it might be, though, I would totally be happy to see Golden Sun mentioned at all in any game. If Isaac somehow made it into Aces in some form, I would be happy to see him mentioned.

Though I'd rather have Waluigi and Isaac as double partners if anything, as they happen both happen to be Camelot characters I want in Smash.

While I don't know how that would actually go down, I'm totally digging the idea of a similar art style for a new Golden Sun. The previous GS games have had bright, colourful worlds with almost a "cartoony" overall look I would say, but not going all the way to any chibi-cutesyness stuff - so looking at the story mode overworld of Aces in particular, something like that would look great for Golden Sun imo.

I think it might be weird to pop in all of a sudden. Anyways, I support Isaac, might not mean much since the support list here is BIG, but I support anyways. I feel as if this is the biggest chance Issac has at the moment.

Isaac might not be very relevant anymore, but with the lack of new characters or obvious choices, I think he might have a decent shot if Sakurai decides to use the ballot more.

They just finished. They can start on a new game. If Isaac gets into Smash, I think we WILL see more of the series (at this point probably a Golden Sun 1+2 HD Collection). I'm just worried whether he will get in or not.

Unless we randomly get a new Golden Sun game, this E3 may be our last hope.

We've talked about Sakurai running out of new big name Nintendo characters. But he's also running out of new IP. Sure, he's got ARMS. But what else?

Top ten of chance, and top ten of want. What do you see? The only other new Nintendo IP is Takamaru.

Every Smash game adds new IP. Last game, we got Duck Hunt, Wii Fit, Xenoblade Chronicles, Punch Out!, and Animal Crossing (plus third parties). In Brawl, we got Wario, Kid Icarus, Pikmin, and...ROB.

But a lot of people are thinking Nintendo is running dry, and on big name franchises, it is. If the game starts pivoting away from Nintendo characters, towards third parties, then that will feel like a definitive statement from Sakurai, that Golden Sun just isn't good enough for Smash.

In regards to E3 itself, I think it’s possible that we could see Isaac get announced for Smash. I find myself doubting that we’ll get a Golden Sun game alongside that, but then again, since the Switch released, Nintendo has been doing a lot of awesome stuff that fans have been asking for (bringing back the sandbox-style Mario, Metroid Prime 4, etc.), so who knows?

I'm not too surprised, myself. DLC makes a ton of sense for third party characters. It would be more exciting for fans (notice how all we got were veterans and third party characters, plus one ad who sold worse than all the others?), and the third party would probably get a bigger cut of the value, since you're buying basically JUST their character, instead of a whole game with fifty other characters.

Plus, the timing of the ballot made me think it's choices were either intended for Smash Switch from the beginning, or they saw how many popular characters they still had and decided to use it for Smash Switch. The timing is way too close to the start of production for me to think it's going to be ignored.

But if he doesn't make it into this game...

Not getting any Nintendo newcomers for DLC (apart from Corrin who was suggested to Sakurai, I think? And maybe Bayonetta, if you consider her a Nintendo character now) makes me think of something.

If the ballot was designed with Smash Switch in mind, and Sakurai realised he was nearing the bottom of the barrel for 'big' characters/franchises that had yet to appears in Smash, then not having characters like Isaac and K. Rool as Smash 4 DLC would make some sort of sense in regards to hype for Smash Switch.
Having a strong base roster.

Which why 3rd parties would make a much better choice as DLC for that game.

If we look at the image Skyblade posted, I think we can all mostly agree that the Nintendo characters on there are all that's left of a combination of 'big Nintendo' or fan demand or expectations.
Maybe it's missing a few characters, I don't know.

So I think a pretty safe assumption to make this time around is that quite a few of the expected characters are going to make it in, just because there isn't much else with as much recognition.

Obviously, we could get massively trolled and get a roster full of super obscure Nintendo characters or Nintendo could decide to go full business mode and fill it with 3rd parties.
We could get a mix of all three scenarios and get a few expected/'big Nintendo', quite a few 3rd parties and a higher-than-average number of obscure/retro characters.

But I am most confident in the 'ballot was a Smash Switch set-up' conspiracy theory.

We haven't seen the ballot results. And we may never. But what limited polling we could do indicated that Isaac has a decent chance. In some polls, he even outstripped King K. Rool. We can't know for sure.

However, if we're talking about Nintendo IP which don't have a character yet in Smash...
I don't remember any other one being at all high on ANY of the polling, except for the Inklings and Takamaru (and I'm not sure how much support he actually had, or if he just had people convinced he'd get in because Sakurai). ARMS wasn't on the radar yet, and every other high placement was either a third party, or from an IP that was already in Smash.

Agreed. And I'm actually wondering how he performed in the ballot because of that. He has a lot of bandwagon supporters now. But I don't think many would put him in over their most wanted. They support him, but don't push for him.

So, who else could have made it as high? Andy? Lip? Ray? I haven't seen any of them poll even close to Isaac (as fun as it would be to have them all in Smash).

I disagree, actually. The Lucas trailer released on the day the ballot went active, and that put both Lucas and Mewtwo on the list as being released for DLC. Roy came along two months later. I think most people just figured that Wolf was inevitable.

So I don't think that the veterans had tons of support in the ballot. People figured they'd make it in anyway and pushed for characters without a lot of chances.
