Also, $10 dollars for a tech-demo that showcases the system's features is arguably more consumer friendly than what Nintendo did with 1-2 Switch, which despite being sold at full-price, would somehow end up being a 3-million seller.
It is, but 1-2 Switch is also arguably more of an actual game than Welcome Tour.

Both of them being paid offerings is pretty ****ty but Welcome Tour isn't even trying to hide that it's a tech demo.

Metroid if it’s in general since it has been dormant twice.
I know the first time was during the N64 era, but when was the 2nd time?

It didn't have a Wii U game, but it had 3DS games during that time.

I mean some people still buy Nintendo consoles only for smash bros. Even if smash doesn’t sell as much as Mario kart it would still sell a ton of systems.
If the console is selling so bad that Mario Kart doesn't move the needle, Smash isn't going to save it. See: The Wii U.

That's true, but it's also a fifth of 1-2 Switch's price (listed at $49.99 on Nintendo's website). I still don't think many people will buy it since you can also find out most of that stuff by just using the console itself, but there are almost certainly tech people who wouldn't mind spending 10 dollars to find out a lot of things about their new hardware.

In unrelated news, Nintendo Music update tonight is the original Legend of Zelda. Good ol 12 tracks for 9 minutes, just like what happened with Mario 2 lol

Man I wish they'd add multiple NES tracks at one time like they did with that Dr. Mario/Tetris week lol

With Metroid one has to keep in mind just how controversial Other M was and what complete non-factor Federation Force felt like to the fanbase. To many in the fandom, it might as well have been 10 years between actual Metroid games of substance (Prime 3 in 2007, Samus Returns in 2017) even with the two games in between. It's not terribly dissimilar to how various DK fans felt like it was 11 years between notable titles in the series with DK64 in 1999 and Returns in 2010, even with the two releases of Jungle Beat in the aughts.

Once again, amazing work! X was always one of my favorite Mega Mans, so I really like this.
It's pretty cool for a fan project, but I'd be kinda disappointed if this was how X worked officially. Keeping the buster shot gimmick but removing it from his neutral attack makes it inconsistent with how every other move like it works, some moves are ripped from Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite, and it's really confusing how the neutral special being Hadouken, but in the air it's actually Charge Shot, except if you taunt at higher percents it's Charge Shot on the ground and in the air, and your down special changes the move entirely, and the taunt boost doesn't effect those moves at all.

I also kind of don't like Weapon Select as a move. It's a cool idea, but it's kinda difficult to communicate in execution, and if we're comitting to changing special moves, I would like the specials you're swapping around to be a bigger part of your kit. Here it's a flamethrower, a wind column, an extremely busted electric wall, and an extremely odd move that just plops down a hitbox that freezes people. And I would get that the idea is that they cost energy so they have to be more powerful, but I think the energy cost is also kind of bad because it makes an already complex mechanic even more complicated for not a whole lot of benefit, especially since it puts a direct limitation on the utility of a weapon swapping gimmick, which defeats the purpose of it a little bit.

They technically did. We have both the NES and Famicom versions of The Legend of Zelda.

If you strip away the marketing and I guess... ornamentation of each game.

1-2 Switch is a bunch of tech demos but they designed its aesthetic and presented its marketing to give it identity as an actual game. Like how Project Guard turned into Star Fox Guard, or especially how Nintendo Land took a bunch of tech demos and dressed them up with a Nintendo coat of paint and an overarching amusement park theme to make them cohesive. I mean that's been the essence of multiple WarioWare games.

That's exactly why the marketing and the conceptual theming of the game is so important, because if you make the thing look like an actual game, you can charge actual game price for it. If you make it look like a fancy tutorial, then even $10 would have people grumbling, let alone full price.

Just because people didn't like the games they were getting doesn't make the franchise dormant. It was still getting games.

Nice, means Zelda 2 will be getting it's exclusive Japanese Battle Theme too later when we get that game's music in NM.

Why? What happened?
The website got taken over by a hacker group and completely shut it down. Sensitive information such as the sites servers, its moderators emails (some of which are tied to universities or departments of the government) and IP addresses, including its current chairman, are currently out in the open for anyone to download if you can decode the link they provided with the right cipher.

Not necessarily. It only got compromised on such a level because it was minimally protected by a decade-old php file. The group responsible also claimed they’ve been trying to crack it in for four years.
Knowing that imageboards tend to attract l337 h4x0rs (like the one the person who took down 4chan uses), I'm surprised it wasn't cracked earlier.

Would it be weird to suggest the following for a new Smash Bros.?
  • Donkey Kong gets his new design, while King Dedede retains his current Smash look.
  • Veteran fighters get new amiibo ‘Series 2’ reposes.
  • Battlefield and Final Destination’s new aesthetic being a patchwork of the major Nintendo franchises (or at least the ones of today).

The third one is a neat idea, but I'd rather introduce a new stage that does that. Cause I like the neutral feeling of Battlefield and FD.

I hope if amiibo's are still a thing by the next smash they make new versions of the cast for the new smash, the Smash 4 poses just feel weird nowadays.

That feels unlikely, given Amiibos' drop in relevance.
Considering we just got Amiibo announced for the Sages of Tears of the Kingdom and for Street Fighter, Nintendo still sees value in continuing Amiibo.
---
Still wish we could get some game/system for Amiibo all-purposely. Like if the Mii Maker got expanded upon for Switch 2 to allow Miis to have costumes/accessories, like Mii Plaza on the 3DS, and all Amiibo could give a costume/accessory for your Mii in Mii Maker. That said, if Miis are returning to Mario Kart World, bringing back the Amiibo costumes(or even making some of them into more full-blown outfits rather than racing gear colored to the Amiibo character's colors) and adding a bit more would also be nice.

4chan being down doesn't mean that it's permanently gone, and even if it were, anonymous text leaks wouldn't die, they would just migrate to other sites. It might be a bit more effort to create a dummy account, but effort is something some trolls will make to create a fake Smash leak

Plus if 4chan ultimately didn't recover, another site would come to take its place, and the degenerates would just swarm over there. Like how Neogaf imploding begat Resetera.

If anything this respite from 4chan comes at a time we wouldn't be getting much anyway. I suspect by the time Smash 6 speculation is in full swing, there will be a place for anonymous text leaks (and ****ty ai leaks) to fester, be it 4chan or some alternative. :/

I could see it happening, but I feel as if the number of people who'd go in for this is extremely low.

I tried to get every amiibo at first, and just speaking for myself personally, outside of my favorite characters that rarely get official merch, I completely regret buying all of them. Pretty much the only Nintendo product ever that I outright wish I could rewind time and prevent myself from buying. I can't see very many people double dipping on new poses unless amiibo suddenly had way more functionality.

There's been leaks on Reddit as well. Ken, Incineroar and Piranha Plant were leaked by an angry playtester. Nobody noticed until all of them were confirmed, lol.

Byleth and Steve were both leaked on Reddit 15 minutes before their reveals, too.
Some even here when the website was at its peak.

There was notable case where a user leaked information about Brawl that turned out to be correct but supposedly the moderators edited the post to say that they were lying.
