My opinion is that if it’s similar to Smash 4 then the number of old characters in the full reveal wouldn’t be that much like how Brawl only had 5 in E3 2006 while Smash 4 only had 9 in E3 2013.
I mean presumably we'd get occasional veteran reveals too in this game's marketing cycle like in Smash 4 since we're not likely to do EiH again and I don't think they'd do one single video to be like "Here's all of the veterans" because it invites direct comparison and makes people think more about who's missing, so whatever number they go for veteran-wise works out about the same I figure, even if it is a really basic "who's getting games recently" list lol
I feel like it's going to draw comparisons to Everyone is Here regardless. There's no way to avoid the, "Well, Ultimate was better because it had __", better to pull the band-aid off early if you ask me.
I mean eventually yes, when the base game releases, I just think for marketing's sake they wouldn't do that, especially when you can hide some of it with the fact that secret characters usually don't get revealed pre-release and you can mention veteran DLC before the game comes out (or more likely shortly after since that would confirm a specific character not being in at launch maybe) like they did for Mewtwo in 4.
I doubt it. Reveal trailers for one or two characters have already become a big part of Smash since 4.
There was Smash 64 on the Wii but that’s the exception.
I mean that's a Virtual Console release though, that's a little different than something like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or a theoretical Ultimate Deluxe lol
Especially since there are several characters that were created after the ballot or when it happened. An example is Sans since Undertale released a month before it ended.
I wouldn't overthink it. Nintendo doesn't allow Twitter accounts associated with a Direct to tease its contents beforehand.

Well if the game cross-releases, that solves the problem - but I was running with the hypothetical that it doesn't. I think most of the stuff we see tomorrow probably won't. Diablo, SF and RE aren't exactly the infrequent, small IP to which I was talking about. I more meant like Golden Sun, Rhythm Heaven or Kid Icarus or something.
He is saying like "Hmm" that seems kind of suspicious but Sakurai I think does stuff like that on purpose to mess with people. Like that random picture of Pac-Man's shadow a while back.
It's the most likely thing since they're not gonna get the voice actors for every single fighter.
I do honestly hope they reveal if EiH is happening or not ASAP if the next entry is not a port, that way people can shape their expectations acordingly.
Unless a DLC character was made around the same time as the base game like Plant, they will probably just do the generic dialogue.
Definitely not happening, they specifically said no information about Switch 2 tomorrow, which presumably would include any and all games being made for it.Tho in the best case scenario. Imagine if in this direct they just say wait for next week for the new smash announcement trailer with Sakurai

I mean imo expectations should already be shaped where it's not happening next game. Sakurai outright said it was unlikely, and even if he's changed his mind before, molding your expectations around that means if it doesn't have EiH, you expected it not to, but if it does, you get pleasantly surprised.

If the next game has cuts, i'm certainly avoiding any smash bros related discussion outside of SmashBoards., at least for a month. Maybe Dexit just soured me on this, but i don't want to go through that headache again.
It would probably be too risky since if they put it into the game the characters would be leaked immediately, but i wish they would just do what Mortal Kombat does and record the dialogue ahead of time and just leave it lying around until said character drops where they actually program the dialogue in.
As long as they dont have a press release saying "We removed all those characters for better graphics" you are good.

Certainly no idea what they were thinking. I guess is that Fatal Fury is most popular outside West in place like South America where Ronaldo is quite popular but that's like putting the Rock, Trump, Tom Brady or even Drake in Tekken or Mortal Kombat.
Wait hear me out, What if it's like, A cross game character reveal. Like, Say they reveal one more character for Ultimate, And then part way through the trailer the graphics evolve to the next Smash. And the announcement is that said character is in both. Kind of like what they did with Luke in SFV and SFVI. New Ultimate content is unlikely either way I think we're gonna have to wait until April 2 for any serious possibility of Smash stuff and even then it would just be a teaser with anything.
That's about the most I think they're gonna do next week, if they do anything Smash-related.
Even just that would be enough to make me super happy.

You know that there was a lot of good game in the last 5 year.
Well the thing with MK is that the dlc are obviously developped at the same time as the base game so they can easily do this, but Sakurai has always said that he's against doing this and he 100% want to focus on base game before moving to dlc, so he don't know which character will be dlc and can't record line in advance. Of course he could change his mind, for Smash 6, but in the past he clearly said he don't want to do that.

If there is any exceptions then it’s presumably when the main part of development is done like how Piranha Plant was presumably developed when spirits and Palutena's Guidance were being added. Joker under a code name was already in Ultimate code since 1.0.0 (same build as the November demos).
IIRC this happened due to government influence, which is kinda weird. It'd be like if Donald Trump bought Netherrealm Studios and had them add Tom Brady to the next Mortal Kombat.
