So I’ve been meaning to ask how feasible it would be for a future smash to have a playlist option for my music? You know having stages playing the next song in a list rather than just randomly based on the sliders. That way you get more variety

I don't see why they couldn't increase customization options. So I’ve been meaning to ask how feasible it would be for a future smash to have a playlist option for my music? I think the best case would be to make it like Battlefield and Final Destination, and be able to play any song you want on any stage you want.So I’ve been meaning to ask how feasible it would be for a future smash to have a playlist option for my music? Yeah. However, it would get pretty cluttered, so I'd say just have a separate menu that has all the songs with the sliders and have it play a specific song depending on how much you like it, and it will apply to all stages.I think the best case would be to make it like Battlefield and Final Destination, and be able to play any song you want on any stage you want.
Nah. They're probably right-ish. 2023 will be all S/V DLC. 2024 will probably be a remake. 2025 will either be an Arceus sequel or be gen 10.Some are speculating that gen 10 Pokemon will be released in 2026, but I'm guessing it will be at least earlier, sometime in 2024, 2026 is my guess though that's not sure gen 11 versions will be released.
that'd just be what we have now only bigger. with randomness everything has an equal chance to play all the time (assuming they're all set to the same probability) as such some songs will end up getting played more than others. what i'm suggesting is a means for every song to have a turn in orderI think the best case would be to make it like Battlefield and Final Destination, and be able to play any song you want on any stage you want.
One reason I think Gen X might not come out until 2026 is just the fact Game Freak is a little gun shy about making that next Gen jump. They didn’t make the jump on the DS, 3DS, or Switch right away. I could easily see a timeline like this.Nah. They're probably right-ish. 2023 will be all S/V DLC. 2024 will probably be a remake. 2025 will either be an Arceus sequel or be gen 10.
I could see Gen 5 remake not being developped by GF considering that they give the Gen 4 remake to another studio. Besides, Legends Arceus didn't got dlc, so I'm not sure if another Legends game would get some. One reason I think Gen X might not come out until 2026 is just the fact Game Freak is a little gun shy about making that next Gen jump. 2023: SV DLC
2024: Gen V Remakes
2025: Legends: Kyurem comes out.
2025: New Nintendo Handheld
2025: Kyurem DLC
2026: Gen X
I feel like Kanto would only get a Legends style game if it's combined with Johto, since it's too small of a region to rally benefit from the open nature Legends Arceus had.I could see Gen 5 remake not being developped by GF considering that they give the Gen 4 remake to another studio. Besides, Legends Arceus didn't got dlc, so I'm not sure if another Legends game would get some.
I'm also more leaning towards the idea that the next Nintendo console could release as soon as next year. So personnally how I imagine GF release schedule looks more like:
2023: SV dlc
2024: Nintendo release next gen, GF have no big release this year (because like you said, GF usually don't release game with console launch)
2025: Gen X release
2026: New Legends game based on Kanto (for the anniversary) + Gen 5 remake by another studio
Or they could throw a curveball and do Let's Go Johto, but I'm probably the only one who thinks that's possible...I could see Gen 5 remake not being developped by GF considering that they give the Gen 4 remake to another studio. Eh. Arceus never got DLC, so I don't expect the next one to...if there even is a next one of those and it doesn't all just get rolled into the next Gen. S/V was already half Arceus as it was.2023: SV DLC

My gut as to why Arceus didn’t get dlc was it was an untested new idea. Making dlc for it is a lot riskier than doing it for a new legends game. I feel like COVID also probably was a factor that caused them to move onto SV quicker.Eh. Bleh. Nintendo's D-listers. No thank you.For fun, a list of retro fighters I think would've been fun to see in Ultimate/would be fun to see in HYPOTHETICAL NEXT SMASH GAME
Just a few options, there's a ton of possibilitiesTAKAMARU:
The classic go-to, retro star of Smash 4 speculation. Having played his game, there's a lot you can do with him.
MIKE JONES:
StarTropics is probably the best first party Nintendo game with absolutely nothing in Smash which is a shame IMO. Not being released in Japan is such a huge roadblock for him though
BALLOON FIGHTER:
Balloon Fighter would be fun, and would continue the blackbox representation like Ice Climbers and Duck Hunt. People will say VILLAGER UP B but they don't care if they wanted both they'd just do it lol
MUDDY MOLE:
My boy, who's still my number one pick. I think you could make a really interesting moveset with him.
PRO WRESTLING:
Because Incineroar's an asshole. Just kidding, I consider this the best of the blackbox NES games that's not named ''Super Mario Bros.'' and would love to see it get some love.
DONKEY KONG JR:
A bit of a weird pick, but he's synonymous with Nintendo's old days and could make use of their various arcade games.
A few others:
-Ayumi Tachibana (Don't consider her retro anymore after the remakes)
-Excitebike (This isn't the popular opinion but Excitebike isn't retro either, though it's been longer since the last game came out)
-Mach Rider
-Sable Prince
-Ice Hockey Team/Volleyball Girl
-Dion/Max/Jack
-Tin Star
I physically felt my eyes roll into the back of my headBleh. Nintendo's D-listers. No thank you.
Well, now you know how I felt when you posted that list. The so-called "retro" picks are some of the worst character choices on Smash's roster. The "games that were bad 30 years ago, that's why they never made another one" crowd.I physically felt my eyes roll into the back of my head
Duck Hunt itself was quite popular back in the 80s when it was the flagship title for the NES Zapper accessory. In fact, Duck Hunt themselves are basically a representation of the NES Zapper itself as their moveset incorporates content from other games that used the accessory like Wild Gunman and Hogan's Alley.Isn’t one of our retro characters, duck hunt duo, from the second best selling game on switch?

But... what is your point? We were talking about the retro-characters from RealLuigisWearPink 's list.that neither changes nor negates my point
How do you know?Balloon Fighter would be fun
darhenderx was saying that these games were unpopular as they never got a sequel but I had an example of one such game that certainly was popularBut... what is your point? We were talking about the retro-characters from RealLuigisWearPink 's list.
Oh, right, that makes sense. Well, like RileyXY1 said, Duck Hunt was the game associated with the Zapper, so it make sense that Duck Hunt didn't get a sequel once the Zapper became obsolete, unlike most (all?) of the other games on the list who didn't rely on such an accessory.darhenderx was saying that these games were unpopular as they never got a sequel but I had an example of one such game that certainly was popular
I only realized recently that there's a reason that Darth views retro reps differently than the rest of us. For most of us, the NES is entirely a product of the history. All games from back then have the same value, essentially zero. Darth actually lived through it, the NES actually registers as a part of gaming to him. Suggesting Balloon Fighter as a NES rep is like saying we need Sushi Striker as a Switch Rep. I don't really know what to make of this disparity, but it was a realization that kinda hit me like a brick.I physically felt my eyes roll into the back of my head
I’m in the same boat as Darth in that way. I was born in ‘84 so I grew up with the NES and SNES. That’s why so many of my most wanted characters come from that era. Pretty much all the first party games I played back then are already represented in Smash so that’s one reason I tend to favor third party characters.I only realized recently that there's a reason that Darth views retro reps differently than the rest of us. Joanna Dark would be another great choice. She’s my third most wanted RARE character after the Battletoads and Fulgore (or another KI character). I had a ton of fun playing Perfect Dark with my friends and brother back in the day and she has a lot of fun, creative weapons to make a good moveset. Unfortunately, I never got around to trying Jetforce Gemini but they seem fun too.Depending on what is considered "retro", my choice would be Joanna Dark, followed by Juno & Vela from Jet Force Gemini (the twins being Echoes or alt costumes and Lupus being part of their moveset somehow). Rareware rules!
You say that as if Sushi Striker SHOULDN'T be a Switch rep...I only realized recently that there's a reason that Darth views retro reps differently than the rest of us. Good to know. I really enjoyed Cyber Sleuth and the first Digimon World game so a Digimon character could be cool. I was personally excited to see Sakurai show Shredder’s Revenge in a recent video. Not that it really means much of anything due to the no non video game characters rule but still.Looks like Digimon and digital pets count as a game
They always have. Or at least, ever since Mr. Game & Watch got into Melee. They're all LCD based handheld games.Looks like Digimon and digital pets count as a game
What else is it supposed to be? Agumon is cool. I used to be “against” the idea, but that was for stupid reasons that don’t matter anymore.Looks like Digimon and digital pets count as a game
I’d love to see a Digivolve mechanic for whatever character makes it in. It works a bit differently from Pokémon evolutions as they tend to be temporary states and are able to go back to their previous form. I don’t really remember too much about specific moves and I didn’t really use Agumon when I played either game so I can’t speak much on that unfortunately. What else is it supposed to be? Agumon is cool. I used to be “against” the idea, but that was for stupid reasons that don’t matter anymore.
But if you were to make, say Agumon, a character, would you build his move set based off of the anime? Or do the actual games give us good content to work with?

Alright, so we all know Agumon would be the first Smash rep, but are there any others we should consider?Looks like Digimon and digital pets count as a game
