Maybe the mouse function could also benefit ports of Wii games that emphasize motion controls. Maybe some Switch 2 games could also utilize motion controls with the mouse function?
Except the Joycon is already supposed to be a successor to the Wiimote, Wii ports don't need mouse controls.

The Joycon's gyro is okay but it's not nearly as precise as an actual IR pointer like the wiimotes had, which matters for games which require higher fidelity. A mouse would certainly be more precise in that regard, though has its own drawbacks.

True, but that idea wouldn't be useful for games that utilize motion controls to simulate swinging a sword, throwing something, turning a wheel etc. Just ones that use the Wiimote like a mouse.

It'd certainly be interesting if we suddenly got Mario Paint and light gun games like Duck Hunt(which had the Wii U port that utilised the Wiimote), Gumshoe, Hogan's Alley and whatnot on NSO afterwards.
Maybe even some light gun games like House of the Dead.

Anyway, I just came up with a new idea for Multi-Man mode for the next Smash game.
  • 2-player co-op (both local, wireless, and online)
  • You can fight either Puppet Fighters (who would just be the Dragon King character models) or enemy teams (which would primarily consist of enemies from Smash Run and the like)
  • You can select between Normal and Cruel difficulties (the latter of which makes both you and your enemies extremely easy to launch)
  • You can either fight opponents in hordes, under a time limit, or endlessly

Do you guys think that the adventure mode will be better in Smash 6 since World of Light is generally divisive.
That's assuming there is an Adventure Mode in the next Smash. If there is, I'd love to see a roguelike that combines aspects from WoL, Smash Run, SSE, and Melee's Adventure Mode.

Depends on a lot but I'm still debating on whether I think smash 6 will even have an adventure mode. They could just eschew it like smash four did and hope a mode like smash tour/run picks up the slack in that regard.

Maybe they could include the character endings that are shown in other fighting games but that's too ambitious. At least there is the congratulations screen image currently.

The reception to WoL won't make it any easier to make a more elaborate one.

Subspace was a huge drain on resources, so something like it with better graphics and a bigger roster would inevitably be worse.

I just want something with some platforming and some mooks to beat up. Whatever form that takes, I'm not picky. Melee Adventure mode, Smash Run, or something completely new - idc, it feels a little empty without either.

The rougelike idea sounds good enough to me. Just give us something completely dedicated to enemies and platforms, you don't even need to bother with story or anything else this time.

I know this was a topic from several pages back but I recently had a dream that I actually remember and it was Smash related.

I dreamt that Smash 6 was already out and they were revealing all the DLC characters at once (2 seasons of 6 characters each.)

The characters were Toad, Monty Mole, Kritter, Bub (Bubble Bobble), Bill Rizer, Allen Snider (Fighting Layer), Fululu (Mamorukun Curse), Cinderella (Nikke), Riku, Kairi, Guybrush and Karnov (who was now owned by Disney for some reason and wore yellow pants as a redesign.)

Aside from Toad and I guess Bill who come up pretty often, how would you all feel about any of the others making it in in some fashion?

If you have to get someone else's permission to use something, you don't actually own that thing. You have partial ownership at best.
Creators permission comes first. Namco used the prince from Katamari as a costume in a shooting game without the creators permission, this pissed him off and caused issue between him and Namco.

Waluigi was created 25 Years ago. The people working on Nintendo games now likely weren’t even around when Waluigi was created and I doubt they give a damn that he wasn’t an in-house creation when he’s been in the zeitgeist of Mario games for so long now.
Nintendo has the best employee retention in the industry. There are people who worked on Zelda Totk that were there when the first Zelda was made. I dont know why "getting creators permission" is such a difficult task to understand. Im not saying this stops waluigi from being in smash by the way. Sakurai and the smash team have to go through this whole gathering permission and supervision from creators every time he plans out a new smash game.

Just to add to the whole " The people working on Nintendo games now likely weren’t even around when Waluigi was created" thing, that would mean someone else supervises Waluigi than. For example Alex Kidd is old as hell, after Kotaro Hayashida left Sega, who was given control over Alex Kidd?

Sonic Team, Naka previously probably Iizuka now after Naka left.

But was it an actual legal issue? Or just a "the guy was mad about it" issue?

We already got Mario Paint 2. It's called Mario Maker.

I'd be going "WTF?!" a lot. But would be pretty happy to see Toad, Rizer, Bub and Guybrush.

This is probably the dumbest argument I've heard about Waluigi 😭

Are we forgetting Nintendo gave Hudson Soft permission to use Waluigi in Mario Party 3 not even half a year after his debut? Which means they were clearly OK with him being associated with the Mario brand even as early as the year he was conceived.

Are we forgetting that three years later, Nintendo themselves used Waluigi in an in-house production, that being Mario Kart: Double Dash, and that they haven't stopped using him in those games ever since?

Are we forgetting that while he has never appeared in mainline Mario, he is referenced in Super Mario Odyssey, a privilege that even "in-house developed" characters such as Daisy didn't have?

Nintendo clearly wouldn't mind Waluigi being in Smash. Camelot creating him is not what's being keeping him out of the game.

I don't have issue with Fortnite.
I don't have issue with Genshin Impact.

But I draw the line with NIKKE. One can only get so much questionable ads for a game that focuses on getting a faceful of ass during gameplay while trying to listen to music on YouTube....

I actually see Smash 6 as being a downright port of Ultimate with a bunch of new characters, stages (including the missing returning ones), and maybe World Of Light with a few expansions here and there. Then, a year or two later, they hit us with a new full on DLC / addition in the form of few new characters and a big, spectacular adventure mode with cutscenes, a strong story and a vast single player experience. That would be the best decision imho.

Sure, we would buy the game twice again, but the amount of content would definitely be worth it.

...why not just have that DLC be DLC for the Ultimate we already have?

Yeeeahh, that's not happening. All of these Ultimate 'ports' 'deluxes' sound more like wishful thoughts by people who don't want a Smash game with less characters and are coping in an 'Ultimate port' but that is not happening. Brawl happened because they didn't want to port Melee, and Melee had almost Ultimate-levels of success, why would they do it now especially when the backwards compatibility will make such a port super redundant

Not happening. Switch 2 has backwards compatibility.

I don't want Ult DX, but backwards compatibility doesn't stop ports from happening.

I just don't get why someone would want a port and then want DLC for that port, do you really want to pay $90 for more content rather than just $30?

I mean I don't remember the Wii having many Gamecube ports or the Wii U having many Wii ports, so unless I'm forgetting something...

Selling a few Wii games on the Wii U eShop sure, but they weren't really ports, it was basically Wii games on Virtual Console lol

Did Shift Up did the same for Stellar Blade?

I didn't mean there's going to be a lot, I just mean I wouldn't automatically count them out.
I mean yeah, I suppose that's fair, I just don't think it makes much sense when the Switch is the third best selling console of all time after the PS2 and the DS, so Switch titles have gotten about the best shot they could ask for is all I mean lol

Like New Play Control happened on the Wii for like 7 Gamecube games, but the Gamecube struggled to sell just like the Wii U did, though obviously not as bad (though they're pretty close in terms of numbers).

There was the New Play Control! series for Wii but a lot of these Gamecube ports were for games that Nintendo didn't have plans for such as Pikmin, Chibi-Robo, and Mario Tennis (didn't have a new game presumably because of Wii Sports). Jungle Beat presumably because of the Wii Remote and Prime 1 because of Prime 3.

Karnov would be the greatest character addition of all time and it is a testament to the disappointment of reality that he's never actually getting in

Monty would be cute.
Not my first choice for a digging/tunneling character, but I'll take it.

Now what I'm writing may not make sense, but thinking about the fact that Cranky Kong is sometimes Donkey Kong's grandfather and other times Donkey Kong's father, it makes me wonder if in the future they'll change Waluigi's story and make him Wario's brother. I know they've mentioned that he's not Wario's brother, but based on the example I wrote with Cranky Kong and Donkey Kong, it makes me wonder if Waluigi ever stars in his own game or if he ever comes to a Wario game, if they'll finally make him Wario's brother, even though the chances of that happening are one in a million.

They'll probably do that if Wario ever comes to the animated films.

The ads were Nikke's biggest mistake honestly. I actually never saw them just browsing YT though. I had to actually look them up when I heard about how ridiculous they were and yeah...not doing them any favors.

Actually, in a sense if taking account the fact that Mario and Luigi are famous in their hometown and might become more famous down the line, I wouldn't be surprised if they did something with Wario and Waluigi where they try to take advantage of Mario and Luigi's popularity & reputation and prop themselves up as the "Wario Bros", without people knowing that they aren't Mario & Luigi, nor actually related and are simply trying to con people out of their money. Then when whatever shenanigans happens later between them and the Mario Bros, that moment becomes the start of their actual rivalry with the Mario Bros.
