Sakurai never said all the DLC was going to be from "new worlds". He just emphasized that the DLC will allow more opportunities to represent "new worlds".

No, that was Reggie that said "new worlds", last I remember.

Either way, this isn't surprising if we remember he doesn't just count the franchise when making the Smash x series thing. He's noted specific games quite often too. So it makes sense technically. Guess people took it more literal than he was talking about.

Which he/she isn't anyway. The numbers make it clear on the site. They have the same number of visual roster slots if you don't stack Echoes, though.

FE has 8, Mario has 9, and Pokemon has 10.

I'm surprised that their original plan for DLC was supposed to end on a similar note to Smash 4's, you'd think they had taken note of Corrin's reception. The additional DLC has probably saved Byleth a ton of heat, even if he'll probably get a fair share anyways.

Well I looked back at the Game Awards video and he just said characters. Unless he said worlds elsewhere.
