New Way for Crews

Ok now i made a thread like this a long time ago. I got some negative reviews but I thought Id try again to see if I can get new reactions.

Normally when we do crews now its all 1v1 and the winner of each match keeps going with whatever stock they had left. Simple easy and fun. Now there are strategies that people use depending on where a player is placed in the lineup. What i suggest for a new Crew Battle format is pretty simple and can open a door for all kinds of strategies and such.

It would pretty much a be a Tennis like set up. (Watched Prince of Tennis and got the idea).

Updated: Before the matches begin, the crew leaders will discuss with their crew who will be playing in which slot (after each spot is filled there is no changing). Then each match is played 1 at a time.
After each match is played, there would be a 1 min break between each match to give each crew a chance to discuss strategy or give advice.

Doubles 2
(break)
Doubles 1
(break)
Singles 3
(break)
Singles 2
(break)
Singles 1

crew that wins 3 of the 5 is the winner.

Now this opens a lot of doors cause now the team has to decide who works good with who in teams, whose a better singles player, should you try for the 3 straight wins and risk leaving your lesser better players for singles 1 and 2.

This also would pretty much assure that Crews gets played cause you wouldn't have players waiting on 1 TV for their turn. It could all be done like doubles bracket where the crews move up if they win.

It also will bring back crew battles and make them just as important as singles and doubles.
People wont just be saying "You see who won singles, he's a great player." People would be also saying "You see who won crews, that's a dangerous team"

Now this is just a thought but I would really like to see this tried out.

Please tell me what you think

this actually seems pretty alright.

I had a similar idea... but no doubles... just 10 v 10 in singles, first to take 6...if it gets to 5 games each, then obviously each crew selects someone to go forth and winner take all.

I think part of the hype of crews is that one player can win any part or all of the battle. In this setup, you're only taking 33% no matter what you do. Also, once someone wins 3/5 there's no point for the 4th or 5th slots to even try, whereas with traditional crews you have to beat their whole squad.

Can anyone expand on what's being proposed here? I don't understand, except that there's 5 parallel crew battles going on at once, two of which involve doubles?

Yes I know that is one of its downfalls, again thou a loss like that will make a crew train to become even stronger.
But also in the crews setup now, not all members are guaranteed. If you ever saw the East Coast vs. Epic Return matches, the east coast team only had 2 players play (PC then M2k).

Phanna, its pretty simple. A crew would decide who would play in each of the matches listed. Then each match is played 1 at a time starting with Doubles 2 then Doubles 1 then Singles 3, and so on. The winner is whoever takes 3 games.

Also i guess another downfall with this is that a crew has to have at least 7 members within the crew cause different players have to play in the different matches

almost sounds good. but i would think that to make sure all games are legit make them all played at the same time or at least have one doubles and one singles at the same time. so theres some crew **** talk in between...

I think that it's extremely important to only allow one match at a time in crews. If you don't, you have to sacrifice some of the hype, and that is inexcusable.

Yes. Yes it is. I love DBZ Tennis.

BUT.

I also love Tennis.

So he had me at Tennis before PoT was mentioned. Had he only mentioned PoT, He STILL would of had me. There is no way out for me.

I'm actually going to try this in GTA, albeit with Brawl. If there were actual Melee tournaments in my region, I'd totally do it there (despite me being both trash and Mewtwo), but there aren't.

Besides the small update i made, im wondering if i should make singles 1 a best out of 3 or best of 5 set, cause its singles 1 and its gonna be more exciting

lolno

1 match, 4 stock, decide the destiny

because the hype from doubles 2, 1, singles 3, and single 2 already built the hype for singles 1.

I played tennis high school. Typically the hype is only surrounded by one or two matches depending on what matches are close/who the best player is/last game finishing if both teams have equal wins. Luckily for me, the hype was usually around my games cuz I was the top player of our not so good school.

I like this idea if time constraints are an issue; it doesn't really have the same feel as a CREW battle.

You should make it a race to six games win by 2.

i get what you are saying but i prefer the way crews are run now over that system. on the other hand i like your idea of having crews run like a tourney with your idea and even through i like the old way better this new idea might be worth a try just to see how well it works.

Basing crews off of tennis doesn't make much sense to me. I played tennis in high school, but it's a pretty ****ty excuse for a team sport. Attention is divided (or all focused on 1st singles) and there isn't a lot of cohesion, even with teams who are extremely unified during practice or when cheering. I would be interested in seeing a Doubles crew battle along with a Singles crew battle, but that would probably result in a lot of 1v2 situations.

sounds cool though you miss out on the epicness of having someone like m2k go through an entire crew by himself, no more legendary moments.
