if you chain immediately after leaving the ground and do it quick enough you can land and keep the chain out

do it out of a run or dash dance and you get added distance in the air before pulling it out. can be used for retreating or advancing. this makes you less vulnerable in the startup because you are mobile while whippin it out.

you can also do it out of a shield lol, im thinking maybe in between falco lasers, if its not too slow

ive been using it in place of dash attacks at low percentages when i know they'll crouch cancel it and you can get some safe damage if you tip your hits.

also can use to save teammates

brawl is almost out might as well start using the chain:psycho:

..Interesting idea. Not that I doubt it, but could you upload vids of it in use?

edit: Actually, I just fell out of my optimistic mindset and realized a move with so little knock back isn't worth the lag. It'll become highly punishable.

Theorhetically, the lag could be compensated for the multiple hits. The only flaw is the ending lag... pulling your chain back.

yeah hate to say it but i'm fairly certain the end lag on the chain is too much and way too easily punnished

Always fun to use a chain against noobs though.

PS: What were they thinking when they gave her that?

PPS: Did Sheik even have a whip in Zelda???

hopefully in brawl the chain can be used to recover, everyone else seems to have a tether recovery

But the problem with the chain is mostly its ending lag, not the startup.

I guess it could have its uses, it just seems like there are a plethora of stronger and safer attacks to use.

Actually Nintendo added the whip to Sheik's character as a nod to the Castlevania series. I know that doesn't make much sense, but that's the word around town.

In Castlevania you eventually aqcuired a skill where you could attack with the whip and then hold the button to leave it out, and then use the D-pad to wave it around in weird directions. It would do much less damage than the normal whip attack, and was very situational and rarely used.

i actually found a way to deal with the retraction lag thing, i.e, ur facing left with the whip on the ground u do a quick counterclockwise circle and let go, right after the tipped chain connects she pulls it back in the same motion, this leaves almost no window for counterattack....

i also found some crazy indiana jones tricks with the aerial chain. u do an aerial chain about a fullhop above the ground, u hold the stick towards your body, then right before u land u slam it away and the chain gains massive range, it looks like a samus extender grapple.

I miss everyone talkin about melee.........

I miss playing melee with my friends too.

Brawl is good but it doesnt stop my heart sometimes like melee does.

This is a cool looking move BTW especially the chain extention thing.
