Actually, funny thing about that; The real Toad is the leaders of the Toad Brigade. So he's still a Guard, he's just the Guard Captain.

On the other hand, Sakurai could mean a generic regular Toad.

But I'd like Kinopio to be playable too. Just as long as Sakurai can make a good moveset for him.

However, as I learned from Sonic Battle, saying "Guard" can also refer to "Shield" itself. Shadow Guard is just him using his Shield. Chao Guard is Cream using her Chao as a Shield. So, in other words, it may not refer to his position whatsoever.

So let's take Horsetail's cue and discuss what we think will happen with fan bases, fandom, fan alliances. fan groups, fan cults, and the hate versions and degrees of hate and love versions of all of those! Examples of these pre-Brawl are "hardcore Geno fans" "hardcore anti-Lucario fans" and "soft Wolf fans."

• Luigi - There will be a hate base. Many of them will want Waluigi instead, or an obscure super duper minor (Mario?) character that isn't worthy of smash. Most of us will laugh it off and say no way Luigi isn't returning, but such people will call us idiots. In the end, they'll be idiots.
  
  
• Bowser - A lot of n00bs will complain about how Bowser is the most broken character in the game, and how he needs a downgrade. They'll say he has no major weakness.

One of you guys can do other characters. I'll come up with more in a bit.

Dixie Kong: There will be one (and only one) super creepy and super active furry Dixie Kong fan here. They will be super annoying, and no one will like them. This may or may not happen if Dixie Kong is not playable in Smash Wii U/3DS.

King K. Rool: A lot of people will clamor for Kaptain K. Rool and Baron K. Roolenstein to be alternate outfits. A handful "out there" people will also claim they should be playable. Also, many people will say "interior crocodile alligator; I drive a Chevrolet movie-theater" if he is confirmed as playable.

Cranky Kong: If he is confirmed as an Assist Trophy character, a boss, NPC stage hazard thing, or a playable character, many people will quickly post without thinking and say "he is too old to fight." Clearly they haven't viewed that video of that 85 year old woman doing gymnastics.

I play an alternate costume of him. Guess we're both playing the same person at the same time, right? Explain how this is any different from playing as Dr. Mario. Character Slots is not an argument. Zero Suit Samus proves that wrong.

There is zero wrong with having more than one Mario. We have two Samusi in Brawl. We have two Marios in Melee. We have two Links(and that's not going to change unless he removes a first game veteran, meaning only Toon or Young Link stay).

If he's an alternate character on the same slot, fine. I press Z, play as a clone. Why is this an actual problem?

"Mildly successful" could also be used to describe the Yoshi, Star Fox, F-Zero, MOTHER, Ice Climber, Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus, Wario Ware, Wario Land, Pikmin, and Gyromite franchises. That equals about half the franchises with playable characters in smash!

Also, he is literally Mario, and Mario is already a playable character.

Why does that automatically disqualify a character=??? Last I checked, that doesn't automatically make Dr. Mario unplayable in Melee.

What if Cranky Kong was playable=??? Would that disqualify Donkey Kong because he is the original Donkey Kong=???

I doubt Fierce Deity Link, but it would be awesome. Twilight Princess regular clothes Link and Skyward Sword regular clothes Link would be cool. As would regular clothes Toon Link from the Wind Waker and Spirit Tracks.

The only thing I don't expect are alternate characters as alternate costumes. That and retro Pit, unless they design him like retro Pit with the hearts as the arrow tip. Oh, and green haired Samus and Other M Samus would be pretty neat as Zero Suit Samus alternate costumes.

Zero Suit Samus should get a selectable picture on the character select screen like how the Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon and Zelda/Sheik do.


That would be an easy and simple solution to that issue.

And John, I'd hate to play the Devil's Advocate with one of my favorite characters, but Cranky Kong being playable isn't the same thing as Doc being playable. Cranky Kong isn't the same character as DK, Doc is LITERALLY Mario himself. I think that's the main problem Breadbug has with Doc; not the fact that he's another Mario, but that he's essentially the same Mario that we already have in Smash as playable
