Well, it's not like Sheik was really that big or impacting of a character. So I wouldn't see her in Brawl anyway. They only put her in Melee cause OOT was so popular and revalutionary.
There's also the factor that she was easy to make as a playable character over Zelda, and since she IS Zelda... why not add both?

Also, Sheik without Zelda is illogical. It's rather clear that Zelda didn't get nearly as much of an unique moveset compared to some others either. It's cool and all, but the only move she ever had originally was the ability to fire Light Arrows. Even if Link did it first, she also did it on her own.

I think :150: won't return in smash ever again. He's just too much of a clone. Instead, we should get the character he is a clone of in :151: back in smash again instead! :awesome:
Its exciting that we are on the eve of a new console generation. However, its disconcerting hearing about the rumors for anti-used games for the PS4 and X-Box successor.
For real: If they do that, I'm not getting either of those consoles. Also if I am Game Stop or another large game retail outlet chain, I am threatening to stop selling ALL Sony and Microsoft, or at least all products related to those systems, unless they reverse that. That is where a huge chunk of said store's money comes from. That also would be bad for the gaming economy, and would cost many people their jobs. That equals negative publicity, which equals gamers quitting gaming, which equals gaming becoming more obscure, which equals Sony and Microsoft probably leaving gaming all together once it gets bad enough.
Does anyone else think Palutena is going to be among the first newcomers for Smash 4 unveiled?
HEEWWWLLLL NAOOOOO!!! Metroid is gonna get in over her, and that's a fact. Just like how Dane Cook is the funniest comedian of all-time! :bee:
@Johnknight- Yeah, Baby Luigi should really replace Luigi. Remember how Taki got replaced by that one girl in Soul Calibur 5 cause Taki is too old now to be a ninja? I think the same thing is gonna happen to Luigi, he's like 50-something now still fighting and being a plumber. He's old and washed up just like Taki was, Baby Luigi would be better in SSB4 than Luigi.
Quote from the truth. By the way, I also think Donkey Kong Jr. is going to replace Donkey Kong. He just has more power, and is really the star of the Donkey Kong franchise.
I think you switched the musics,a calm menu theme for bosses and an epic dracula boss theme as the menu???
Look at the date silly
By the way, y'all need to show some holiday spirit! C'mon, IT's CHRISTMAS FOR CHRIST'S SAKE, SO CELEBRATE JEZUZUSS!!!

Likely List

Best chances: Characters I am confident will show up in Smash4
Ridley, King K. Rool, Dixie Kong, Zoroark, Little Mac, Miis

Decent chances: Characters I WOULD BET ON, but I'm just not AS confident in
Samurai Goroh, Bowser Jr., Isaac, Palutena

50/50: Characters I wouldn't be suprised got in, but betting on them would be iffy
Saki, Krystal, A Fire Emblem Character, Takamaru, Mewtwo
I changed your post a little bit to what I think.

@Ope's roster- Pros (IMO): Added MEWTWO
No cuts overall from the Nintendo series
Added BOTH Roy and Krom
Added Little Mac
Added K. Rool
Added Ridley
Added Isaac
Added Toad
Added Palutena
Added Takamaru

Neutral (IMO): Added a 5th gen PT
Added Tingle
Added Starfy
Added Shulk
No third parties at all- (Won't hold this against you, much as I love Sonic and Snake)

Cons (IMO): A second Kid Icarus character other than Medusa (Hades, IMO, should just be a boss or something; it'd be like adding Deathborn over Black Shadow as a third F-Zero rep)
No Saki
NO SAMURAI GOROH

Overall, maybe an 8/10

Impa is 100% guaranteed to replace Sheik. GUARANTEED FACT RIGHT THERE
I dunno, I think Epona might replace Sheik actually. I also think Epona's down B is gonna be transform... into Daisy. IT JUST MAKES SENSE IN ALL CAPS! ;)
There were a lot of trends that emerged this generation that I did not like (most notably DLC, especially DLC that was already on the disc).
You mean you don't like paying extra for crap on the disc after paying $66 dollars (about 8 hours of work at minimum wage), then buying DLC with awesome stuff like armor for a horse that doesn't die, alternate outfits for characters that don't matter, and stuff for the stupid trophies you don't care about=??? :glare: (basically the opposite of the GTA IV DLC)
Japan plays on, BF, FD, SV, Lylat, Delfino, and Yoshi's.

They're not more aggressive they have a better handle of concepts and exploit more things than in the American Metagame.
Many Japanese tournaments (at least for Melee) are Final Destination only. They also tend to really have spacing and getting an extra option on defense down to habit.

I don't follow Japanese Melee that much, but I do contact with Volt or some of the others in JP scene. There's more it than some people think when it comes to brawl

How is the JP Melee scene? I never hear of them. At least for Brawl JP players came to Apex.

I have never seen any JP players beside Captain Jack come to America.

I wonder how much love Melee would get if it didn't allow arbitrary gaps in the skill level of players.

I actually prefer Brawl over Melee. I'm not a competitive player though, so that might be the reason why. Brawl also has much more content. But I understand why some people might prefer Melee.

It would be loved less, actually. Most casual players tend to forget about games largely 20 years down the road, while us competitive Melee players will love it forever.

It's kinda like the difference in sports between a fan who is only a fan when the team is good and popular, and a fan who is a fan of the team forever. The former is quite frankly boring, and not as rewarding. Although I am straying a bit off.

Also, Brawl is WAYYYY better than Melee. I mean, who doesn't love the fact that the game is slow, stale, unwatchable, and has a super broken character=???

I'm a 100% casual Smasher, and I prefer Melee to Brawl.

I love Brawl, but Melee is just a lot more fun to me. I could play that game any day in any mood. Brawl IMO is really only fun with friends

But then again, I'm someone who prefers to play with items... Playing Smash Bros. without items to me would be like playing Mario Kart without items... kinda takes away the fun. Although I'm probably the only one who thinks that way here.

I think there's a sweet spot between Melee and Brawl. I really like the "chess" mentality of Brawl, but I agree that defensive options need to be less effective and offensive options need to be more rewarding. I feel like we could just find a common ground for hit-stun, make shielding options slower and less effective, and make everything faster. EVERYTHING.

Although, I was thinking, how would you guys feel about custom physics?

Assuming Nintendo isn't going to support their game with balance patches, what if they just included the option to tweak different aspects of gameplay? You could make rolls slower, give melee/brawl style air-dodges, make shields smaller, fall speed faster, etc. A competitive default could be created over time.

This could get even crazier with the ability to customize damage/frame data for individual moves for individual characters.

This is basically what the different brawl mods are doing. I don't know if you guys have tried them out, but I LOVE BRAWL MINUS. They could just give us the tools in the actual released product.

Anyway, not the typical post here, just wondering what you guys think of that.

Oh yeah, Sm4sh will likely have similar physics and junk to Brawl since it will likely also allow 4 ways of control, which was a factor in Brawl having the physics that it does. I think just having online was another reason it was slower?

What would you call a player who has never been to a tournament doesn't follow the tournament scene plays with items more often than not but knows all the terminology, can do character specific techniques like SHDA or universal techniques like jump-canceled throws and created a thread that thrived about how to maximize toon link's projectiles. That's not exactly casual but it's definitely competitive.

Oh and John brawl is better than melee. IMO it goes brawl>64>melee. But I know i'm an extreme minority. But all of the games are immensely fun.

Custom physics in Smash? Sounds like some **** you would be able to do in a PC game, lol

I'm down for it, though

Items in Brawl are totally boring. They are all stale, way too strong, and the only way to beat them is to be lame and run away instead of approach with good spacing and defense like in Smash 64 and Melee... unless you're a top tier character.

Brawl players have no tech skill and can't go up a learning curve. Thus Brawl players are better! :awesome:

And Brawl isn't anything like chess. Chess is all about being several moves ahead, and about destroying defenses with well-planned out offense that is unpredictable, like Melee.

No, what Brawl is about is going slow, running away as the most viable defensive option, and using the same 3 characters to win every tournament. Look at the characters the top 10 Brawl players use, and look at the characters the top 10 Smash 64 and Melee player use.

With Brawl the top 10 will use Meta Knight, Diddy Kong, Snake, Falco, and maybe Marth. With Melee the top 10 players use Fox, Jigglypuff, Falco, Sheik, Marth, Captain Falcon, Young Link, and maybe one or two others. And with Smash 64, Isai alone uses everyone! ***If we are talking casual smash this does not apply***

Overall, I like it. No 3rd Parties doesn't bother me too much.

Just one or two things.

If you are adding a "Legendary Trainer," and this may bring up a good point, maybe he could have Mewtwo instead of Meloetta? Just a thought. It saves a space and removes a not very requested character. I dunno. Just a thought.

Hades
I also don't agree with, as I only see Kid Icarus getting 1 newcomer, but not too bad.

On a personal note, you could remove him and put in Goroh.

Overall, I'd give it an 8.5/10. Pretty cool; I'd be happy overall.

There's not really a better way other than posting a lot, which itself is a little ineffective since the signature doesn't show up if your message isn't long enough. It probably wouldn't help a whole lot, but would you mind if I linked to it in my own blog? BIG GREEN LETTERS RIGHT AT THE TOP.

You tried saving the roster, and creating an image file? If so, upload it please.

And when saving your roster, you can load it whenever you want afterward.

I'm already taking notes of some updates I wanna do for the second version. I might not start working on it until a little while though.

A good way to make posts longer is to quote someone with a decently long post, Jakor. If I want mine to show, I generally do that.

On a different note, let's say that at E3 they announce the name and 5 newcomers, being King K Rool, Little Mac, Palutena, a retro (for now let's say Muddy Mole ), and Mega Man. It also shows Mewtwo's return. Now, I chose this scenario due to it fitting the past "trends" of reveal trailers and with these newcomers getting close to no opposition lately.

Now for the question; if these agreeable choices were revealed at the first trailer, do you think it would alter what people find likely as far as the roster?

Just a scenario to get some possibly interesting discussion going on.

Brawl is a good game, but it's just not very fun to watch competitively. It also gets boring to play for long periods of time competitively, quite frankly. I think the only people it is "really fun" competitively for is the people who really like to play it competitively.

Ok, this will sound dumb but I don't know how to do this exactly... I saved my roster but what do I do from there?
