Also, put in Frodo from Lord of the Rings as a random character. lolwut=???

Edit: I did a rough count of the characters on that screen. There are about 560 characters on that list. Imagine that perfectly balanced, and you got video games in mid 22nd century down perfectly!

But yeah, sursly! PEOPLE OF UUURRRHHHH!!!

In terms of relevance to a franchise and popularity, the only character on that list that comes anywhere near to competing with Ridley is Dixie Kong. Even though she is great, and important to the DKC franchise, she hasn't been as popular as Ridley has been in about a decade, when Donkey Kong fell off the face off the Earth thanks to the breakup and sale of Rare to Microsoft, and a small studio called "Retro Studios" rebuilding Metroid for a new era in Metroid Prime (and Samus' chase to find Ridley and that epic Ridley boss fight being a part of it).

I honestly have troubles seeing any 1st or 2nd party character being more worthy than Ridley (a 5th Generation and/or possibly once they are created, a 6th Generation Pokémon aside) to appear in the next smash bros. games. He is Metroid's Bowser/King Dedede/Ganondorf.

Heck, Ridley has appeared in every Metroid game but Metroid II (short and had severe limits), Metroid Prime Hunters (takes place in another universe), and Metroid Prime 2 (which there is data of him in). That's 3 out of 11 games he doesn't appear in.

Ganon (called "Gannon" in the original Legend of Zelda) or Ganondorf didn't appeared in Zelda II (aside from the death screen), Link's Awakening (aside from Nightmare's form of him), Majora's Mask, The Four Swords, the Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, and now probably Skyward Sword. That means Ganondorf only appears in 1/2 of the Legend of Zelda titles.

Granted, the Legend of Zelda is like a 3 or 4 times bigger franchise than the Metroid franchise. However, Metroid is too big to have representatives that aren't Samus to be ignored... unless we get like Zero Zero Suit Samus, or some other random power suit of Samus (which totally won't be a new character; maybe an alternate outfit).

Ridley has supplied me with 9 years and just shy of 11 months of "Why isn't he in the game?" sadness. I am still mad that my friend told me Ridley was in Melee. Worst. Fake Rumor. I have been told... EVER!!!!!!!!

Let's hope in the Sm4sh, Ganondorf can turn into Pig Ganon. Well, unless they put in Toon Ganondorf. Puppet Ganon could be interesting.

Also, what's notable is that Ganon himself has more appearances than Ganondorf. So I don't think appearance amount alone is good enough. The overall character combination of Ganon and Ganondorf is still considered the overall MAIN villain of the Zelda series, though they are one-offs and other villains.

Yeah, I think there should be two kinds of final smashes for each character: one that is a super attack (Beast Ganon strike, Marth's Critical Hit, Mario's super fireball) and the other that is a transformation (Beast Ganon roaming a stage, LANDMASTAHHH, Yoshi the dragon, ROB's super laser form, Diddy Kong's barrage attack thing). That would be pretty friggen awesome!!! :D

Simple: Have two different forms of the Smash Ball, or perhaps a new type of Smash Ball-esk thing. You should only be able to have one if you ask me.

Anyways, I totally think it would be awesome to see transformation battles. Here's a few that would be awesome:

Beast Ganon vs. A Landmaster
Super Sonic vs. Starman Mario
Barrage Diddy Kong vs. Dragon Yoshi
Giga Bowser vs. Laser ROB

That would make me want to own this game. I would be hardcore over it bro!

I would totally do friendlies of this all day long. It would be epic to the trillionth degree!!!

Toon Link becoming Fierce Deity Link or using the Wind Waker
Snake using a Metal Gear REX or using his Brawl Final Smash grenade launcher helicopter thing
Pokémon Trainer summoning all 3 of his Pokémon (Triple Battle) to fight at the same time (invincible against non-final smash foes) or the Brawl Pokémon Trainer final smash
Donkey Kong riding that rhino in DKC as an enemy or using his bongo drums
Mewtwo's powers becoming that of a deity (from his armor) or a super psychic explosive blast
Bowser becomes Giga Bowser transformation or a super flame thrower death combo move

Toon Link can't become Fierce Deity Link. He and Young Link are completely different characters. That'd be great for Young Link, but I think using the Wind Waker to say, summon a huge tornado would work.

I like the rest of the ideas. Although couldn't Bowser use his Chain Chomp like the Ball & Chain, spinning it around, knocking opponent's out of the way? Alternatively, it could be similar to Beast Ganon.

I'm fairly confident in Operation Moonfall. I think we will see a MM3D.

Technically, it's only an upgrade IF he gets a new moveset. I liked Toon Link more, imo. Regardless, though. Also, Toon Link has a lot more unique tools to himself than Young Link does. Young Link has a bunch of masks, while Toon Link has a ton of weapons that'll be more than just transformations.

That said, I'd like both in SSB4 myself. DLC Toon Link with a new moveset(same with other clones being de-cloned, or ones that have notable other versions, like Toon Zelda, and Toon Ganondorf)

Well it depends what your Sakurai's definition of Toon Link is. I wouldn't be surprised if many characteristics of other child Links were in it. Fierce Deity Link was just my suggestion considering how awesome that version of Link is. Honestly, it would be a great move for either Link.

oung Link from Melee is just a younger version of adult Link in Melee, whereas Toon Link is an entirely different Link (and in smash 4 he would be multiple different Links).

And even if MM3DS happens (I REALLY hope it does, and I hope it adds a lot more than OOT 3DS), it doesn't mean Young Link is replacing Toon Link.

So far the future of the younger incarnation of Link seems to be using the cel-shaded child Link as in the Wind Waker and Spirit Tracks instead of the more "realistic" Young Link from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask (although I would hardly call N64 graphics realistic by any stretch, let alone Gamecube or Wii graphics).

Depending on where the future of the child incarnation of Link is headed-depends probably on which child Link will be in smash. Likewise, I think it would be best for Sakurai to incorporate the best of each child form of Young Link. If the best features of child Link is ignored we could be missing out on some of the best things child Link has to offer.

That dragon Yoshi was more a joke than canon/non-canon. I think it was a joke on the fans who can't decide if Yoshi is a dinosaur, dragon, or both. Plus it was pretty unique. It's not everyday you see a Yoshi turn into a dragon! Legend has it that it happens every 5 trillion shooting stars are wished on, or approximately ever eon. In many ways, it is much like a Super Saiyan!

Fun fact: Ridley is oddly both a dragon and pterodactyl Who'd figure=???

I like. Magic Armor could be interesting. Like it could take hits equal to your current percentage.

Anybody who knew anything about Super Mario World knew about his wings. Also, Dragons have been considered Dinosaurs and vice versa in various games. Not too much of a stretch, imo.

Yeah I think Toon Link is more distinct, but many elements of the traditional 3D and classic 2D child Links ought to be incorporated at least a little bit into his moves and fight style, too.

I think the Magic Armor could be interesting.

I totally forgot about the dragon Yoshi. I haven't played Super Mario World in years. I actually beat that game when I was but 4 or 5. It was the first video game I ever beat. Oddly enough, I thought it was too easy, and went back to Super Mario Bros. 3 (which I didn't beat until I was 15).

I hear this Toon Link discussion all the time but frankly, I don't think he's so very likely to re-appear at all. I mean, all the Zelda characters would probably look 'Toon'-like in Smash4 cause of Skyward Sword. So why need an extra character?

I agree that 2 Links is maybe a good idea, but how likely is Toon Link to stay, if there are not going to be future games for him?

You remember the Wii U trailer of Zelda? Link showed an apperance similar to TP's design, but updated (looked very good I say). If they go with that apperance for Link in the future, Toon & Young Link's job is finished. Except for maybe Four Swords representatives and stuff. Sure they might not go with the exact style for the future Zelda game of that trailer, but I think it's far more likely we'll have adult Link starring the console games from now on.

Toon Link's last apperance was Spirit Tracks, and the game majorly representing Toon Link's moves was Wind Waker. Upcomming is Skyward Sword, also not starring a younger Link. And we already had OoT as a 3DS game, so a future Zelda 3DS starring Young Link is not likely, unless it's Majora's Mask. So unless Majora's Mask 3DS is announced, I don't think it's likely that they have another Link version in again.

As I said before, Skyward Sword's design would basically mean that the normal version of the Zelda characters are already 'Toon' Link and 'Toon' Zelda (not sure about Ganon and Sheik yet). Adding in Toon Link as he appeared in Brawl alongside the SS style characters would seem odd, as he would have similar design yet not being from the same game, and it isn't as easy to explain as in Melee where the characters reflected OoT.

Sheik will likely be replaced as well. Finally.

For those who don't know, it was recently revealed that two more newcomers for Mario Kart 7 are Wiggler (which makes sense) and.... Honey Queen?
