New Edgehog trick : Instant Hog

Ok, it's maybe not new to a few of you, but i guess it could be very useful for the others. ^^

EDGEHOG NORMAL GAME​

So basically, to edgehog someone, you have two options with Falco :

1) Firebird Hog
2) Hop, then Phantasm

1) The first one is pretty good, and is the safest actually. But on the other hand, it's pretty slow... According to 3GOD's Frame Data, the first hit is on Frame 21. So the UP B probably takes at least 15 frames to hog again. Furthermore, you don't keep the incibility frames the whole time.

To do it (to those who don't know that), you just have to drop (the side drop being better) from the ledge, then immediatly Up B.

2) The second one is risky, unsafe, and can kill you easily. Plus, the timing is a bit strange.

So there is now a variation :

INSTANT HOG​

Works only on : Smashville, Yoshi's Island, Battlefield, Halberd (on the Halberd), Luigi's Mansion, Wario Ware, Pictochat,

The windows is really little, so you must have quick fingers ;p So, all you have to do is :
1) Side-drop
2) Immediatly side B towards the stage.

It is faster, and you keep your invicibility frames from almost all the side B. (It even seem that with very good timing you keep them during the whole Instant Hog. But there could be a few frames without invincibility frames). But it's still a bit unsafe ^^
And most of all... this is FLASHY ! :D

Bonus : This instant hog on FD is cool.... you end with the glitch lol XD

I want to see how flashy this really looks. I'm afraid to side b because if some one some how manages to grab the ledge I'm toast. I've done this before but I don't think I've ever done it fast enough, it's the same thing with the up-b, I will try it ever now and then but I don't think I have the timing down.

Those edge hogs take way to long. Can't you just instant edge hog by running off the ledge and slamming the control stick in the opposite direction? The risk to reward ratio is way to low.

I think he is saying if you are already on the ledge and you don't have time to get up on the stage and speed hug the ledge. It would be so sexy to edge hog some one with the over B move.

I just made this thread to keep Falco's forums alive XD

Anyways, yes Genesis, simple edgehop is better. But Instant Hog can be used as a edgestall-move, or as a mindgame-edgeguard move And if you can master it, you will able to use it as you would usually use tether with Link or Samus.

Yeah I've been illusion hoging with Fox for a LONG time. It's not as useful that simply edge hugging. Fox is easier to illusion hog in Smashville because the posts in the background line up perfectly to the edge. So just illusion once your jump is parallel with the post.

Not sure if it's the same for Falco though.

@Genesis, It's another form of ledgestall, not the same thing as hugging.

sure it isn't possible on JJapes? I think i did it when i was trying to drop phantasm to the platform in the middle, ended up regrabbing the side one again

I just tried the phantasm ledge stall, you can sometimes glitch and not grab the ledge. If your not quick on noticing the error you'll easily lose a stock.
