Darn, this is terrible, Stafy as an AT, I am starting to lose hope at Brawl.

He had a lot of potential too but the fact he's only well known in japan probably held him back.

However Stafy may be released outside japan now, theres no doubt he would do well over in europe and america, just you wait I bet he'll be a shoe-in playable character for ssb4 if he comes out worldwide!

Edit: yeah I got rid of it xanderous, I was typing it quickly anyway.

What's with all these people coming over to this thread and saying things like Stafy sucks and shouldn't even be an assist trophy? I thought people on this site were nicer than that. That's really low. :(

Why all the negativity from Safy fans. The series has nothing to render it worthy of a playable character spot apart from being quite fun. It hasnt even made the transition to a main Nintendo console let alone outside of Japan and from the movesets ive read his moveset would be bland and repetetive. With international and popular franchises like Pikmin, Golden Sun and Advance Wars looking doubtful for character inclusions, what part of you brain though this character would get a roster spot in the holy grail of the Nintendo world? Did Stafy even show up on the poll?

You should be happy the guy got in as an A.T.

Umm.. Golden Sun and Advanced Wars haven't made it to a main Nintendo console... :p Unless you count Nintendo Wars released for the Famicom in Japan.

And I don't see how being on a handheld only, affects their chances.

Game and Watch? Roy? Pokemon is HEAVY on the portable. MUCH more important than in the Main Nintendo consoles.

Why people underappreciate portable systems is something that is beyond me... Especially when Nintendo DS is the BEST-SELLING video-game system, and 1/4 of people in Japan own one.


Anyway... My condolences with Stafy fans... Here's hoping his games are released in the West soon, and hoping next Smash Bros installment features 100 playable characters.


Jigglymaster & goateeguy: I can't believe people can fall this low. :/

It's not like Parrothead cares. Seeing Stafy represented (As well as any japan only character) even if it's an AT, he'd be glad. People who only root for the popular characters would never understand.

To guys like us, seeing obscure characters return, even as ATs, is a HUGE win. So don't think you guys "owned" him or "beat" him. God.. how childish can people... never mind... I guess I should just notice where I'm standing at.

Hellz yes! I figured that, if any good would come out of this, it would serve as a means to officially introduce Stafy to the West. If people get excited enough about him, maybe they'll release nice little DS versions of the original three Stafy games, and then perhaps Densetsu no Stafy 4. The possibilities excite me! :bigthumbu

Wow, when i first heard about this possible PC, i was sceptical.
But now that he is deconfirmed, i'm sort of dissapointed that sakurai didnt make him PC...

Despite Luke Groundwalker's *******-ish way of putting it, I agree with him. There woud be no problem giving Stafy B moves, but what about A moves? Stafy's limbs aren't really long enough to do kicking or punching attacks, and he can't just spin all the time.

Also, I'd like to say, after reading the update for Stafy's assist trophy, I really think that Sakurai kind of dislikes Stafy. I think he feels that the character stole too much of Kirby's thunder.

I think alot of assist trophies in this game are going to be AC in next game.

Pit was a trophy in Melee.. and probably wouldent have been thought of otherwise. maybe.
it -did- Improve his chances.

Your joking right? They wanted to add Pit since 64, he was replaced by Jiggs for technical difficulties.

I wish he would have incorporated a few more at least, like they did with Knuckle Joe. He should also have his falling/shooting star attacks. But, that's just my opinion.

I don't think so. I think it's just a rumor. I do know that Dedede, Peach, and Bowser were all planned for 64. I think M2 might have been as well, but...Jiggs as a Pit replacement? I think that's all hearsay.

No. Thank God Samurai Goroh is an AT, and Deoxis is a Pokeball.

Little Mac was a potentially awesome charater. The first of his genre, and deserved a LOT more.

The new boxing games are flickin inspired by Punch OUt!!! It's like making a platformer without thinking Mario!

Whoa-whoa-WHOA. Now, I can understand if you don't like Stafy: maybe he's a little too "cute" for you or something like that. But there is absolutely NO reason that Little Mac would not make it as a playable character. "Lack of a moveset?" Easy! Use his Punch-Out!! moves as a basis, including the Star Uppercut for his Up Special, and then embellish on the attacks from there. Who said he couldn't have been a miniature Captain Falcon? The potential is there. And Mac is undoubtedly one of the most iconic figures of Nintendo's 8-bit era. Millions fondly recall the little pugilist, reminiscing about the hours spent pummeling Piston Honda and trying their ****dest to get the timing just right to counter Bald Bull's infamous Bull Charge. Mock Stafy if you will, but don't you dare mock Mac.

And all this talk about iconic status gets me wondering: if the Densetsu no Stafy series had been localized for the U.S. and Europe, do you think that he would have a substantially larger fanbase--that is, would he be considered an "icon" of the GBA era? If they had been localized, do you think Stafy's chances for becoming a playable character would have increased exponentially, or would he still have been relatively obscure? Would the games even have sold well enough to warrant further localization?

Horrible horrible update... And sakurai had to be an *** about it too... I don't know why everybody hates stafy all of a sudden either

Dang, and I was always secretly rooting for Stafy to make an appearance on the playable roster...sigh~.
