Smash 3DS New 3DS Direct for Japan

Woke up waaaaaay early, and remembered there was a direct.

...A new 3DS model, Shulk in SSB4, Xenoblade 3DS...

Anything else? I came in during the part where Iwata was showing us the nub would be comfortable or something.

New bravely default, new One Piece and new Monster hunter (Along with collectors edition).

Still doesn't mean anything. Smash community has better ties to nintendo of america now, so all we have to do is show overwhelming demand for them to change their minds.

Pic of the day. From Xenoblade Chronicles, Shulk joins the battle!! He's not the type of character that would usually appear in the Smash Bros. series, but we worked really hard to make it happen. We're very happy with how he turned out. This stage is Gaur Plain.

Shulk's sword, the Monado, slashes enemies with a beam when activated, so it can strike from long range. What really makes this weapon unique is that when the Monado Arts are activated, it can change Shulk's features and abilities! Emerge victorious in battle by changing your abilities strategically!!

[List of Monado Arts] 翔 (Jump): higher jumps, lower defense. 疾 (Speed): faster movement, weaker attacks. 盾(Shield): higher defense, slower movement. 斬(Buster): stronger attacks, weaker launch ability. 撃(Smash): Stronger launch ability, weaker attacks, lower defense against launching.

I guess it makes sense considering they launched the 2DS here not too long ago. Even if they've largely phased out the original model they wouldn't want to flood the market with more since I'm sure they feel the average consumer is dumb after the Wii U confusion (even if that really was entirely their fault, but I digress).

The hilarity of this all is that if they expect Amiibo to make them decent cash over here they pretty much need to get those out in the wild ASAP. An add-on isn't gonna have a decent attach rate and the Wii U...well, is the Wii U. Very little sells well on that to begin with.

At least we got lots of Xenoblade love. If they come out and say "only on New Nintendo 3DS" for the port though I'll have to burn Nintendo of Japan down.

Challenger approaching! New system! The new 3DS! With regular and XL sizes, regular being $153 and XL being $180.(16000 and 18800 respectively in japan.) New Features:

Small circle pad above the ABXY buttons (This was confirmed to function like the c-stick and works with smash! CPP users rejoice?)

4 triggers (+ZR ZL)

Regular sized is slightly bigger than the original model, and XL is a little bit taller when open, but a little shorter when shut.

All around faster

Cover plates! When you put on a cover plate, it changes the theme of your 3ds home menu!

SD card slot is now open and at the bottom, and the power button is also on the bottom (The regular sized has the headphone jack in the middle again, not sure about XL)

You can remove the back (And Front(This is also to put on a cover plate)) and it reveals a micro SD slot! SO now you can have 2 SD cards

New 3DS XL monster hunter 4 bundle (Does this mean it also gets an exclusive monster hunter 4 cover plate+exclusive menu theme?)

Aaaaand it is indeed sounding like Xenoblade is playable only on the new 3DS. I suppose this is what I get for watching a direct only for Japan. Time to go start some fires.

No Region lock or no buy for me in that case, I already have 2 3DS' to get past dodgy exclusivity, I am not buying two more.

I like how the title of the trailer isn't even capitalized properly. It's totally a reference to the leak.

there's the regular SD card space and then there's the internal microSD card. that's all (but still more than before).

That is correct. This and several new games.
The New 3DS has more processing power, possibly enough to do direct wii ports. Think of it as a DSi, except with actual improvements, so the enhanced games won't be playable on the old 3DS

EDIT: Gameboy Colour would probably be a better analogy, Xenoblade is like Pokemon Crystal

Shulk is in Smash Bros, one more point for the Gematsu Leak, I like Shulk in Smash but for me please no Bowser Jr. and Duck Hunt Dog. They are all too fan based character.

The new 3DS XL I give it 80 out of 100, the new features are cool but I don't really like the color.(For now)
