Ness Glitch!!! Can someone explain this???

So I was playing some 1v1v1's a bit ago and was playing as Ness. Somehow I got killed, and when I spawned back, I constantly had the yo-yo out, even though I was not using Usmash or Dsmash!!! It would hit people too! Similar to how it hits someone when it's lying on the ground when you charge Dsmash, but it would hit someone whenever it touches them. Has anyone seen this glitch before? your thoughts please!

It was Brawl. Melee's yo-yo glitches were cooler.

Hit ctrl+F and type in Yo-yo Glitch. You'll have to hit Find a couple times, but there's an entire section on it, including a video.

I've had that happen as well.

It seems that being hit out of a D-Smash/U-Smash by a minimal-knockback attack (such as the very end of Mario's UpB) will trigger it.

Now the question is: why does it not go through the ground?

It'd have to clip which I don't think unless it's glitched up the ground will let things clip through it. And it's still technically a part of Ness' string or w/e so it still has physical properties like any other item in the game.

Hey, heyyyy. I don't know if you knew this, but the thing STAYS OUT after you die. Well, in a sense. The string stays, and the end of the yo-yo will stay at the edge of the screen in the location you died at. As soon as you get close enough to the rest of the yo-yo, though, it immediately reattaches. If I had to guess, he probably got hit while charging up the yo-yo or some shenanigans, died upward and, upon coming back down for his next stock, got close enough to his death loaction for the rest of the yo-yo to reattach. Simple as that.

Yo yo glitch, it happens in both games.
If you die well using the yoyo on the frame it comes out you respawn with the yoyo, and keep it till you u/dsmash again.
