I'm getting a bit hyped for Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm for ps3, but I'm afraid I've never tried any of the other naruto games. Which ones are worth picking up, if I were limited to ones on the ps2 (noone down here sells GC stuff anymore =/ ) ?
The best ones to pick up are, right now, Naruto Gekitou Ninja Taisen 4 and Naruto Shippuden EX2. Both are pretty broke, but they're still fun.
Naruto GNT 4 is quite possibly the best 4-player fighter after Smash (granted, competition is low), the only flaw is the guard system.
For a 2-player fighter though, I think Accel 2 (PS2) may beat it.
What comes out in October again? If it can't beat 4's roster and/or has inferior waggle controls I'm passing.
Competition in Florida and the Midwest is actually pretty fierce for the game. Everywhere else it's a little dry. What do you mean by the guard system? You mean the lack of high/low mix ups? I'd agree to that. I don't like the style of the Accel games but I have heard good things about the series in general. Some people like it, but it's less popular.
In October we have Naruto Clash of Ninja: Revolution 2, with a lot of promised changes. We have actually been in contact with the developers directly and we've got some good changes in the works. It should be really good. In Nov we have Naruto Shippuden Gekitou Ninja Taisen EX3, which hopefully follows suit in making changes since EX2 was fundamentally flawed.
BTW, waggle controls were banned in nearly all tournaments (actually, I think
all lol).
I think I still have Clash of ninjas 2 on my GC.
****, defending is even more broken than brawl.
I'm not sure what you all mean about defending, it's not that bad...
I've played one of these games before, I think. All I remember is is that I was some little girl that hit like a train (Hinate, or something like that? Not into Naruto myself.), and at the beginning of most matches, someone would use a special move that would make a giant shark out of water, which would plow through everyone.
Hinata, and Kisame does the shark special, and that was likely GNT 4.
That would be 4.
And, yes, the guard system is incredibly broken, but it's still a fun fighter.
I would still have to say that the US Wii releases are inferior, CoN:R was basically GNT3 with what, nine characters removed? All of the Sound Five? Then they "add" Kisame (ripped straight from GNT4) and gimmicky waggle control.
I will not buy CoN:R2 since it's guaranteed to be more of the same; one of the new characters is some non-canon person from the movie which not many people care for anyway and they still haven't reinstated characters they cut in CoN:R.
GNTEX2, though, I might get that with the recent Wii region-free hack. I just don't know if it's worth it since I already have GNT4 and Accel 2 and am eyeing Ultimate Ninja Storm.
GNTEX2 was pretty broke, so I'll let you know that going in. I'd wait on a report back about this new one or EX3.
CoN:R2's developers are actually in contact with us (like I've said) and they've made a lot of great changes, I'm excited about this new one.
CoN:R removed eight characters (Kiba, Chouji, Anko, Iruka, Mizuki, Zabuza, Haku, Sarutobi) and added Kisame. Most of these characters are making it into CoN:R2 but all of them except Haku were bad anyway. Kisame is a better Zabuza clone so it works. They never had the sound five in naruto 3 and they did add the gameplay mechanics from 4, like dashing sidesteps and y-canceling. It wasn't bad, except for the obstacles and stage transitions (which can be turned off in the new one). It was actually decently balanced.
^^I honestly like GNT4 more than either of the EX games. Y-cancelin=too good. And they sort of fixed guarding a little (now it could break), but it's still pretty broken.

Um, it was really easy to get around guards. So if most of you are complaining about guards not being able to be broken, you weren't playing the right characters or don't understand how to play this game. The mix up was punch and have them block or make them think you're going to punch and throw. Throwing was EVERYTHING in GNT 4.
Anyway... I really hope you guys get into it because we're trying to rehype this series. Confirmed sponsorship from the developers!!! I'm too excited.
