I just got 1st place in an online 2v2 tourney held by smashboards. my teammate was an amazing link, Ace17. i know online tournies arent as legit as offline, and it was 2v2, but i say dont give up on link. its not impossible to win.

Just to let everyone know, Im pretty adamant on NOT getting into brawl's competitive scene because I think this game has NO meta game.. however.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=V0u3sUOShcI I watched this video and thought, Link's broken, yippe! I was actually thinking about getting into the game because of this video, of course the editing is pretty sweet. I know this video may not seem like it has useful stuff but take mine and any link players word for it, you need to learn every little trick you can with Link because its going to help tremendously in the end

Well, Chip and I just won doubles at a State tournament. Link and Toon Link ftw. Way too many arrows. We took out the undefeated doubles champs in the Pacific Northwest since the game pretty much came out. I only got 5th in singles again though lol. Darn Snake >_>.

It's not really the characters, but the players. I've never played anyone that flat out had a huge advantage and I just didn't stand a chance. Off the top of my head I remember losing to Snake, Rob, and Marth. Even then, not by much. Usually 1 stock high percent. They just happened to get the killing blow before I did. And yes, Link sucks very hard. you will always be at a disadvantage against everyone you play. The only way to win is to have the dedication to be better than whoever you're playing.

Why do you say that?

Where do you go for all these brawl tourneys? I always here about them but do not know where they are held. The only one I went to was the first day release of brawl at gamestop. Not much of a tournament there.

I say that based on a tier list perspective. Link is just bad. Anyone using another character will have an advantage against you, but if you're good enough it doesn't matter. Check the regional zones section of this website for tournaments in your area.

unfortunately for link players the shield game is not as good as you may think.

WHY DOES THERE HAVE TO BE A KNOCKBACK! it really is unfortunately but you have to absolutely stand still. because blocking a projectile will just push you off the stage you have to attempt to approach. and you will get hit by someone who does double falco lazers.....LAME...WHY COULDN'T LINK BE BETTER!

As long as one continues to use Link, they will have to work very hard to win. Using Link really does take skill. It takes practice to master him. I think Link can win a few tournaments. You need a lot of mental toughness and will to win in the close matches. If one can do that in every match, and things go right, a Link player wins the tournament. What would have happened if Deva got to the killing blow before all his opponents? He would have placed first. Deva, if you keep working at it, I believe you can place first. You've been close placing in 5th, 3rd, and whatnot. You're that close. Keep at it.

In melee, what happened to jiggz? Awww, jigglypuff sucks, shes a disgrace, shes one of those characters that nintendo put in the character rooster because they needed a extra character. Now? Awww, jiggplypuff is soooo cheap, she is too good and too easy to use, she counters everyone! Shes one of the characters that nintendo put in by accident because they were drunk and put in 'too good, unbeatable'.

Link can easily climb up the ladders of the tier list, it just takes time.
And stay with link, i think link will be one of those characters who just plays so fricken awesome, like samus in melee. Trust me, if you try switching to link 1 or 2 years from now and cant play like some soon-to-be pro links in the future, too bad, you had your chance, and thought link sucked.

if you duck, i'm pretty sure it's next to impossible to not catch the shield with the laser.

g&w needs to be punished with jabs then comboed out of the second hit if you want to get anywhere, i think.
i asked for specific help with his moves but i haven't gotten any yet.
Game n Watch needs to be punished with heavy use of projectiles, ignoring the threat of his oil panic. Just don't go close range with him.

No Lite, Link will be low tier no matter what. It's not how good the players are, but how the characters themselves play out in general. Link just has too many disadvantages against too many characters to be good. Again, though, it doesn't mean you can't be good.

I agree Link does have plenty of disadvantages such as his garbage recovery, irratating slow grab and laggish smashes, but using link's advantages over other's weakenesses still proves his worthiness due to his balanced play style(kinda like mario). A balanced character will always have a problem with specialists in my opinion. When I first got brawl, I almost gave up on him( too many nerfs). But I saw there was still potential in him. Like I said before, his disadvantages are worse than other characters but I don't think I would rate him as garbage. Do you mind if I play you sometime. I have you added already. Thanks

P.S: Skler's guide and Izlaw's video always helps. Pretty sure you knew that already

I was in a tourny down in Lancaster and placed 6th out of 40 wit Link. I did switch characters at times. (Shiek, Marth, Wolf, Falco) but a majority of my wins was with Link. And Deva you are the best Link in the world lol
