Progress Report 73. Season 4 Episode 8. Rarity takes Manehattan

That was great. It was a lot of fun watching this one, mainly because of the song they did about Manehattan, but the drawback is regretting never going to New York City before. I liked how Rarity's competitor's ex-student admitted that they lied about Rarity losing, and this whole thing about being cheated on like that must really hurt badly.

Also, we haven't seen Manehattan ever since Season 1, and it was pretty nice to see an episode take place there as the main setting.

Final Score: 9/10

NYC is way too crowded and noisy for me. Then again I'm not much of a city person to begin with...

By comparison, Manehattan seems way too quiet considering the size of the place.

Progress Report 74. Season 4 Episode 9. Pinky Apple Pie

That was a pretty good episode, but now I got that song stuck in my head. First when I read the description, I was like "Pinkie Pie and Applejack related? What is this bull?" But as the episode rolled on, it got less confusing. The few occasions with the apple family fighting is something I can relate to because I don't get along with my dad AT ALL. It was even more of a surprise to see that Pinkie wasn't so hyperactive like she usually is.

Some of the conflict between them seemed a bit..."forced" to me. Then again I don't fight that often with my own family so maybe that's more accurate than I think it is.

Progress Report 75. Season 4 Episode 10. Rainbow Falls.

That was a great episode. Think about it for a second, the Wonderbolts attempted to replace Soarin with Rainbow Dash for the whole competition! You guys just wait though, before too long, Rainbow's gonna be a Wonderbolt too. I can feel it.

And Ponyville just barely qualified for the games. Spitfire even gave Rainbow Dash a badge. Must be a sign that she may already be welcome to the Wonderbolts. (Probably not though)

Thought you'd like that episode.

I'd comment on the Wonderbolt thing, but you'll just have to wait and see for yourself.

Sorry I've been falling behind on this, but I just got back to college from winter break, so I got two progress reports today.

To start, I got Season 4 Episode 11: Three's a Crowd

Even though Discord claims to be reformed, there's still something about him I just don't like, especially since he starts faking sickness just to get sick for real later. I also didn't like the idea of him barging in on Twilight and Cadence enjoying some time together. It could have been worse, I guess, but still, that was just plain rude.

But I guess he DID have a point. He did feel like Twilight was neglecting him in one way or another, and wanted to see if he could trust her like Fluttershy does. Still, there must have been a better way to see for himself if Twilight would help in a dire situation.

Final Score: 6/10

Secondly, we got Season 4 Episode 12: Pinkie Pride

That was pretty great, even for someone who STILL CANT STAND WEIRD AL YANKOVIC TO THIS DAY, but it's Rainbow Dash's birthday they're celebrating, so what the hell could've been better? Only problem is they never said how old Rainbow was, and why her parents never showed up. (Then again we've only ever see her dad in a flashback in Season 3) The REAL backstory behind Cheese Sandwich was pretty heartwarmingly coincidental, but I still wonder why they had to get Weird Al for this one.

Final Score: 7.1/10

Huh. Don't actually remember Pinkie Pride at all. Maybe that's one of the one's I missed.

Funny that it's RD's birthday that I also missed from that episode since I'm constantly forgetting people's birthdays, Fire Emblem or otherwise

Discord for me is hit and miss (even if there are more hits than misses). I like his character overall but Three's a Crowd was one of the misses for me as well.

If I can recall, Weird Al had a tweeting stating he was interested in doing a bit for the show. Production made it happen. Fans basked in a Celebrity Guest VA. Cheese is as non-sequential train of thought as Pie goes in terms of food.

Discord is mainly an acquired taste. Most of his episodes feel forced for me.

Progress Report 78. Season 4 Episode 13. Simple Ways

This whole thing with Trenderhoof visiting really drove Applejack and Rarity off course for who they are, but I gotta admit I cracked up so hard at seeing their role plays. I still got the giggles right now tbh. It was a pretty simple episode, though. Still, pretty good.

The only problem with Simple Ways is that Trender is a painful character to the eyes.

Hey guys. Flyer here. I've been kinda busy in between usual hobbies and responsibilities, so I got a Triple Play for you all this time.

Let's start with Season 4 Episode 14. Filli Vanilli

I just laughed my way through this episode. Coming from someone who DOESNT have stage fright, this review probably means nothing, but whatever. I do agree that Fluttershy has a beautiful singing voice, but i didn't expect to see the Poison Joke from Bridle Gossip ever again.

Also, I must say I NEVER expected Big Macintosh out of all ponies to be a singer. I was very surprised with that. And yet very impressed with his singing abilities.

Final Score: 7.9/10

Next up, Season 4 Epidode 15. Twilight Time

That was meh. It was good to see Pipsqueak having a voice for the first time since Nightmare Night, but now he sounds more like he's British. The whole pacing through the episode was just wrong, but it could be worse.

But really, I STILL CANT STAND Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon to this day. I know something comes up in Season 5 when they turn themselves around, but I still don't like them one bit. They really went too far this time, getting all the other school ponies to start a riot like that? If you would try to instigate a revolution like that where I went to school, they'd run you out of town on a rail.

Eh, I'm through nitpicking about it though.

Final Rating: 6.3/10

Finally, we got Season 4 Episode 16. It ain't easy being breezies

Fluttershy really learned a hard lesson this time. It was kinda nice to see breezies for ourselves after they were somewhat mentioned in Three's a Crowd, but I can easily see why Seabreeze was so desperate to get home because he had just become a father. I also really cracked up at Rainbow Dash's joke on Twilight in the end.

Final Rating: 7.5/10

Flyer, the statement that Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon "turn themselves around" is not what you think it means, just a fair warning. ;P No spoilers from me, but don't get too hopeful.

As for Discord, I feel like he's a character that needs a competent writer to pull him off well. That's why he worked so well in RoH; because Lauren was such a competent writer that even making a character as off-the-wall bonkers as Discord still didn't feel forced from her. I also liked that they didn't make him into a stereotypical reform story in Keep Calm and Flutter On, either; he didn't care about what he was doing and it's impacts until he finds himself somewhere he'd not been in much before; feeling sad.

It's a great way to reform the character without coming off as forced. While I agree that shoving him into episodes in some cases can feel forced, it's not as bad as, say, shoving Pinkie into a role where she clearly doesn't belong. Three's a Crowd was a fun little romp that works well as a fun episode with Discord as it's star. And his arc in the finale is also really nice, too; it's not often you see villanous characters get broken in spirit instead of in body.

Really, I think that Discord works best when he's completely bonkers and off-the-wall in his humor.

Progress Report 82. Season 4 Episode 17: Somepony to Watch Over Me

That was great. I just laughed my way through this one. Applejack DID have a mental breakdown, but at least she got over it. I'm even more surprised Applebloom even managed to get as far as the swamp. I can just imagine the look on Big Macintosh and Granny Smith's faces when they hear the news.

Sure is quiet around here. You're all really hibernating until Season 6, huh?

Let me ask you all a question then. What's your favorite episode from each season?

Mine:

Season 1 - Bridle Gossip

Season 2 - Read it and Weep

Season 3 - Magic Duel

Season 4 - Power Ponies/Daring Don't (a tie between them for me)

Season 5 - Tanks for the Memories/Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep (another tie)

I'd save this until you finish the season. I think there's an episode coming up that may be a new potential favorite.

(Unless you've already finished Season 4)
I'm closing in on finishing Season 4. Just five more episodes to go.

I also have like 4 progress Reports I haven't shared yet.

Also, does anyone know if Hasbro's confirmed the date that Season 6 even starts?

Nothing on mind to talk about. Maybe get back to drawing. I'm not much for spoilers either so no dice in talking about that either. I'm not much for reading fan fics either, but Espy suggested a few Twi centric ones to me, so I might hit up FiMfic sometime in the future.

Merchandise wise, I hadn't been to any stores for a whole month. Decided to go on a shopping spree, Toys R Us, Target, and Wal-mart in one go. Impulse buy so strong.

Season 1 - Look Before You Sleep (Term: Adorkable)
Season 2 - It's About Time (My fun has been doubled)
Season 3 - Games Ponies Play (Everything about this situation)
Season 4 - Twilight Time (How shes eats her burgers and fries. I want to eat with her.)
Season 5 - Ameding Fences (Twilight and a Twilig-esque character Moondancer? Just as doubled as It's About Time!)

Magic Duel and One Bad Apple are pretty close for Season 3, but Games Ponies Play had more scenes enjoyable to me.

Also, does anyone know if Hasbro's confirmed the date that Season 6 even starts?
No specific time frame, but word on the street is that this break between seasons is going to be shorter than usual. I believe I read it somewhere in an EqD post. I except Summer-ish by that context.

I got some progress reports for you. First up is Season 4 Episode 18. Maud Pie

I dunno about this one. It was kinda hard to keep watching as it progressed through. This review pretty much means nothing from a guy who was left sisterless when he was thirteen, but I just didn't really feel entertained with this episode. Maud and Pinkie just don't have anything in common at all. They just love each other because they're sisters. The Mane Six as a whole did go a little bit overboard, but Pinkie really overstep her bounds this time.

Final rating: 3.2/10

Next up is Season 4 Episode 19. For whom the Sweetie Belle tolls

That sure was nice, especially considering how Sweetie Belle and Rarity were once again able to overcome sibling rivalry.

Again, I keep getting painful memories of that day when I was thirteen when I see this sort of topic, but I think the lesson learned was still worthwhile. After all, Sweetie Belle DOES kinda make bold assumptions sometimes. When you've got someone like Luna on your side like that, what could go wrong?

Final Rating: 8.9/10

Third up is Season 4 Episode 20. Leap of Faith

That was all right. I'm very surprised Applejack didn't just expose the Flim Flam brothers secret right away, but it's nice to see that Granny Smith got over her fear of swimming with absolutely no effort. I don't believe those sorts of advertisements anyway.

The very beginning of the episode was my favorite part. May have been rude to prank Applebloom like that, but eh, could be worse

Final Rating: 6/10

Finally, we have Season 4 Episode 21. Testing Testing 1,2,3

That was great. I really got bored with Pinkie Pie's rapping, but once Twilight managed to brew up that study strategy, I really started to feel better about the whole topic. Of course, I was always interested in learning history, and not to mention getting good recognition for my grades in History classes, so that's finally something me and Rainbow Dash don't have in common. (Had to happen sometime) I had tears in my eyes when they stamped the 100% on the test, but then again, teachers ALWAYS do that stunt to make it look like you've failed the test.

Final Rating: 10/10

This wait for moar ponies is still pretty long, so it's unsurprising that activity in pony-related things is kinda low.
Good thing I have Aurellah's music to enjoy while I wait.
And once my arm gets better, there's vectoring too.

>Maud episodes anything other than 10/10
pls
Maud is the greatest character ever written.

As for fav episodes, it's really hard to decide. Each season has like 4-5 I'd tie for top spot. Except S3. Best episode is One Bad Apple, hooves down. Babs is the best. WHERE ARE THE NEW BABS EPISODES? I'd have to really sit down and weigh every episode again and make a tier list. I mean, it's Smashboards, people love their tier lists here.

I can easily list which episodes are my least favorite of each season though.

...suddenly I don't feel so bad about my Rainbow Dash obsession
Does it include an obsessive collection?
I got some progress reports for you.
Maud's interaction is pretty golden, but I agree the way they went about it was less than stellar.
Praise Luna. . . And Sweetie Belle. And Rarity.
If it makes your family feel good, I guess. But they ain't no suburban folk of advertisement common sense.
Every interaction and methods with Dash is good. Demonstrates different strategies that can work depending on the person. As much as I not prefer Dash, this idea resonates for me.
And once my arm gets better, there's vectoring too.
I couldn't get into vectoring. I'll keep sketching.

Sweet Celestia, how much money have you sunk into all that? That's quite the collection. Wonder how it fares against the one my friend has...

I've got a plushie, a couple figures and several cards from the CCG but that's nothing really. My obsession only really extends to PC wallpapers and an excessive amount of Rainbow Dash avatars (dashatars?), gifs, and reaction vids.

I remember tallying it up spending $300 by the end of Season 2. By now, I'd estimate $750 on Twilight alone from all licensed plushes, figurines, tin boxes, CCG singles, stickers, and masks. Probably hit $1k if I include everything else novel to me such as the Pinkie Bubble Blower or Rarity Scented Bubble Bath.

Granted that image was late 2015, I installed shelves to organize them better. I still need more shelves.

I used to be into playing the CCG, and my city had a group of 3~4 players that'd meet up. But then we stopped planning outtings and just fell out of it. Now I'm just buying singles that have any feature of Twilight in the artwork. I used to scour for Twi wallpapers, but the chore became too overbearing with all the other things I do now such as maintaining my city's Smash 4 YouTube, Twitch, and FB group, let alone gaming. Never did get into reaction gifs.
Never thought I'd ever see anyone who disliked a maud episode.
There really is no God. :applejack:
I stopped believing in God a long time ago. There are people who just don't see characters the way most do. See Zaj and Shining Armor. See Leaf and pegasai supremacy. See my respect for Vincent Tong but the disdain for the utilization of Flash Sentry.

Here are a few progress reports.

Season 4 Episode 22, Trade Ya!

Meh, it was all right. All the mane six except Twilight and Fluttershy really went way over the top in terms of craziness, but it turned out all right in the end.

And what's with Rainbow Dash thinking Twilight's beat up copy of Sapphire Statue was worth more than the first edition? That's just not like her. (This is why I don't go to flea markets)

Final Rating: 6.9/10

Season 4 Episode 23: Inspiration Manifestation

That was pretty entertaining. Rarity really stretched herself beyond her means this time. I know it was the book's fault, but still, all the blame will probably go on HER in the end despite how Twilight somehow learned it was Spike who stole the book from the old castle library. I just wonder how long it took Twilight to clean up everything.

Ah, but that dress didn't really look good on Rainbow Dash anyway

Final Rating: 8.9/10

Season 4 Episode 24: The Equestria Games

As much as I would normally say I'm getting tired of spike centered episodes, this one was pretty impressive. All this time and I never would've thought Spike was such an icon in the Crystal Empire. I'm also surprised that Ponyville won the medal count. Next thing you know, Ponyville will be as city-like as Los Angeles. (Hey! I can dream, can't I?)

Final Rating: 10/10

Her friends and Twi's copy is worth more then the First Edition. More emphasis on her friends.

Also I was way off on my spendings on pony. I'm taking inventory while cleaning my room via spreadsheet, about 70% done and I'm at $2,000 and I still have buttons/pins, puzzles, games, shirts, and prints to go.
:phone:

Edit: Spreadsheet
$3,200 total, $1,300 (~40%) on Twilight Sparkle related.
Updated Collection

Edit Edit:
Apparently May 2016 according to an EqD post.

Got some reports for you guys.

Season 4 Episodes 25 and 26: Twilights Kingdom Parts 1 and 2

Pretty great conclusion to Season 4. I've never been a big fan of heroes giving in like that, but I must say Twilight really did have a reason to give up one hope for another.

I wasn't surprised that Discord fell for that trap at all though. I've had my doubts about him being reformed all along, and it turns out I was right. It's not all bad though. He DID remind Twilight about that box with the keyholes that appeared after they rescued the Tree of Harmony.

Now what about Tirek? Eh, he was an all right villain, but he shares the same flaw as another villain I know very well, Megatron from the Transformers. Overconfidence. No, not even that, I also think he was a little bit dumb too. Ah but every villain has his or her demise.

Final Rating: 9/10

Now for the first two episodes of Season 5. The Cutie Map parts 1 and 2

Great start to the season. I may be offending some people when I say this, but I HATE Starlight Glimmer after watching the episodes. What she was doing was worse than the possibility of the Crusaders never even getting cutie marks in the first place. (I know they eventually do, but I'm just throwing it out there.)

The map system was a pretty nice touch to the whole meaning of the story, and I can't wait to see where the map leads them next.

You better rate every season 5 episode equally, or Glimmer's gonna give you a bad time.
