My Kirby Philosophy - Competative Potential

kirby is viable for competative play, he
is not as bad as people make him out to be,
a decent character all around in my oppinion
pretty much everybody just hates on kirby becuase they think he isn't
cool and its embarrasing to be killed by kirby. I killed a
guy with kirby once and holy **** man,
he was just really really pissed, then going on about how HIS character
sucks and additional johns and what not.
and kirby has those massive combos against spacies
doesn't anybody realize this?
afraid to tell you guys... but you really have to learn the game more
of everybody i know, the kirby plays on smashboards have alot to learn
anything can be done with any character if you put the work into it

Yeah, its been a good amount of time since Melee's bad Kirby, they should've changed their minds by now and realized Kirby will probably be around high-mid tier.
And to the OP, we are putting work into being better at Kirby, he just doesn't have AT's to work with. :/

Kirby is very viable for competive play.

I played him against my friend's Toon Link. He was pretty good. It was a close match, but I pulled off a win on the last stock. It was a tournament style match, too (4 stock, 6 min, FD, no items)

According to Japan, Kirby is mid-tier (fluctuates between top D rank and mid C rank).

Although, as others have stated, there are some nasty combos against space animals. Forget the (Space) Animal Right's Club.

Well, Kirby is more competitive in SSBB than SSBM.
