The Mother 3 Fan Translation project is roughly 90% done (last time I checked.) They have been working very hard to translate the Japanese-only GBA game Mother 3, also known as Earthbound 2, and get it into the hands of the fans. I have been keeping tabs on this for a long time now, and I am very excited for this. I am a huge fan of Earthbound for the SNES, and can't wait to finally play it.

Who else is as excited as I am!?!?

Yes and no. The people who are interested in it are generally the people who have played the original Earthbound. The Mother series has a very avid playerbase.

Mother fans were hyped for mother 3, long before lucas was even announced to be a character in smash. Like, back in 2006, when the game first came out in japan.

Anyway, I already beat the japanese mother 3, but it'll be nice to finally play it without constantly looking at a translation guide, and being able to know what the minor NPCs are saying.

Truly a masterpiece. My goal was to beat the game before Brawl came out. I acomplished that goal and I can't wait to experience the game again in English. The second draft is done! One more draft to go! GO TOMATO!

I've played this & "Earthbound/Mother 2" long before Brawl was release & have been keeping close watch on this" Fan Translation".

Anyways,yay that it's almost ready!I'll be starting a new game just to get the idea of the story when it's finally done.

I haven't seen this enemy either. I believe it's an unused enemy that was cut from the final game. Oh and though hacking the famous 'doorknob' is a usable item!

I discovered the earthbound series through smash. All 3 are really good rpgs (but Earthbound 0 has MAJOR grinding).

How could you enjoy the game without understanding the dialog,meaing its in japanese?
Mother series isnt know for its battle,and you wouldnt be able to get the story or the humor.

It's not the same, but I got tired of avoiding spoilers. Besides Mother 3's story is really visual based. You could probably beat it without a guide.

I haven't played that many handheld rpgs. I must say I enjoyed it more than final fantasy 6 though. But I'm weird like that. >_>;

Just play it. The mother series is weird. Not everybody will like it. It is my favorite series though.

Mother is just as good as any Final Fantasy. I haven't played through all of Mother 3 so I can't say for certain, but Earthbound is definitely better than FF VI.

I wouldn't call it the best hand held RPG (haven't played it all, again), it has nothing on Pokemon Blue. Better than Golden Sun.

I would say it flat out beats golden sun if it wasn't for the class system of golden sun. That was soooo much fun to tinker with.

Mother 3 is entirely about story, with a cool little battle schtick and music.

Yes you would. It's much darker though, but it still has those weird moments.

I have only heard good things about Mother 3 thus far, but who can go wrong with Earthbound 2? The sequel to one of the greatest games of the SNES generation?
