More Pokkén Tournament Details Coming January 23rd

It's been quite a while since any information has been released about Pokken Fighters, currently under development by Namco Bandai Games with involvement from lead Tekken and Soulcalibur producers, Katsuhiro Harada and Masaaki Hoshino.

Later this month during the next installment of Famitsu’s live monthly news broadcast on January 23rd, a stream will be hosted through Niconico at 7 PM JST providing more information about the upcoming game. The official website has updated with a new logo and renders of Lucario and Machamp as well, and the game is set to release in Japanese Arcades sometime in 2015. What exciting suprises might be in store for the game? Tune in to find out!

A Wii U release is pretty much guaranteed, why else would Nintendo be bankrolling it? The arcade release is just to make sure Japan's FGC latches onto it, because that's where they play, but they know a console release is where the real money is. And the Wii U needs everything it can get to bolster its library, they're not going to pass up an easy opportunity to port it over and move more units.

Not sure if I'd get my hopes up about Wailord though...

As I said above, 1 and 2 are definitely going to happen. Sticks already exist. Madcatz and Hori made some for Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and the old Wii sticks (Tatsunoko vs. Capcom) are backwards compatible.

It's still surreal, in a way. A traditional fighting game using Pokemon characters, being developed by Namco's FG finest and focused on appealing to the series' older fans.

If anyone said this would happen even three years ago, they would've been laughed off the Internet. >_>

So you figure we'll get a few character reveals, wouldn't you? It'll be interesting to see how they work this. And hey, maybe by a stroke of luck they'll get amiibos.

I think this could totally use a MODOK-ish character in the form of Magnezone with the general idea of air mobility and shield etc. Doubt it, though.

Yes the dev team said that there will be all kind of pokémon in pokken, not only anthropomorphic (with arms and legs) pokemon.

About the release after the arcade one i only wish for a WiiU release , no 3DS and of course never other constructor's consoles
yes, because a debate took place at the pokken's reveal about the fact that the pokemon compagny has different executors than nintendo and they can decide to release the pokemon license on any platform they want if they will to.
