TECHNIQUE LIST

Beginner’s Techniques

Jumping: You can press either Up on the Analog Stick or you can press X/Y.
Crouching: If you press down on the Analog Stick, your character will crouch (duck) and can absorb hits (look down a little more for an explanation on how to do that) or to slip under projectiles.
Floor Diving: Press down when on a small platform to fall through it.
Fast Falling: When in the air, pressing down will make you fall a lot faster, this isn't good when trying to recover but let's say that someone wants to hit you in the air, let them get close and when they're just about to hit you, fast fall and avoid the blow.
Edge Hanging: You can grab onto the edge by being directly in front of it or above it. Once holding on, you can press either Up, making you pull yourself up, A/B, making you attack, L/R, making you roll or X/Y, making you jump.
Shielding: There are three different kinds of shields, the bigger they are the weaker they are and the longer they take to wear out. The biggest shield is activated by pressing the Z button, but it takes longer to bring up, because you will grab, then shield. The middle sized one is activated by lightly pressing either shoulder button (L/R). The smallest and most used is activated by pressing the shoulder buttons all the way in until you hear a clicking sound. You’ll notice that the larger the shield is the lighter it is, and the small one is very colorful.
Vertikill: Double jumping with X and press Down A at the same time. This cheats the delay in meteor smashes and brings YOU up and puts THEM down.
Aid dodging: The simplest way to explain this technique is to shield in the air. You can also direct the air dodge to any direction you wish to go.
Crouch Canceling: To crouch, you press down on the Analog Stick, this also makes your character able to resist harder hits. This is also named “Turtling”.
Triangle Jumping: This is performed by jumping in a forward manner, making you go diagonally upwards, then you air dodge diagonally down in the same way, thus making a triangular jump.
Dash Canceling: This is performed by dashing (running) and then pressing down, making you stop immediately and not slipping or having to recover.
Jump canceling: This may seem hard but it’s very easy to do, simply press jump and immediately air dodge back to the ground. That sounds easy, but you shouldn’t leave the ground.
Rolling: Press Shield and then Left/Right.
Ground Dodging: Press Shield and then Down.
Wall jumping: This isn’t performed by Ganondorf in the same way, he isn’t able to do it without getting hit, but that will be explained in the Advanced Techniques. Wall jumping can be done by Mario, Captain Falcon, Falco, Fox, Samus, Sheik, Young Link and Pichu. This is done by touching a wall in the air and then pressing the opposite direction, making your character spring off.
Recovering from a Broken Shield: When your shield is broken, rotate your controller In circles (360 degrees) in order to shorten your stun. The higher your damage, the more useful this technique will become.

Advanced Techniques

Juggling: This is done by repeatedly attacking your opponents and sending them into the air, and not letting them land and/or recover.
Spikes (Meteor Smashes): These are attacks that send the opponent flying downwards, do this off and edge to a highly damaged foe to KO them. Works extremely well with Ganondorf.
Dash ‘n Throw: This is done bye doing a dash attack then while still attacking pressing Z in which case throwing an item. This can only be done however, with either the Ray Gun, the Fire Flower or the Super Scope.
L Canceling: This is easy to do but hard to time, simply press L at the same time as you touch the ground, making you recover immediately and stand.
Roll Teching: This is the exact same thing as the L Cancel, except that when touching the ground, not only do you press L, you also press Left/Right on the Analog Stick, making you recover immediately and roll.
Wall Teching: Done the exact same way as an L Cancel but when hit into a wall, making you recover and drop without bouncing everywhere.
Ceiling Teching: The exact same concept as the Wall Tech, except performed on ceilings.
Wall Tech Jumping: Simply do a Wall Tech and press up, making any character Wall Jump. It’s extremely funny when you see Bowser do it.
Dodge ‘n Drop: This is done by holding an item (any) and doing a neutral Air Dodge, and immediately dropping the item by pressing Z. Especially useful with a Bob-omb in your hands, you just dodge, drop the bomb and therefore hitting any opponent next to you while dodging the blast.
Short Jumping: This is done by very lightly, and I mean extremely lightly, pressing Jump. It’s easier to do with the X/Y buttons so I recommend using them. Your character will slightly come off the ground, to notice a huge difference I suggest trying it with Falco.
Dash Dancing: This is done by Dashing (running) back and forth really fast. This makes a could and your animations get doubled or tripled thus confusing your opponent.

Expert Techniques

Wavedashing: This is very hard to do, if you want it to look really nice. To perform it, you crouch, then jump and immediately Air Dodge in a Down Diagonal direction. Meaning that you air dodge in the direction Down/Forward or Down/Backward. You can do this in both directions, making you move forward or backward, for offense and/or defense. When you get good at it try to do it without crouching at the start. It will look like you crouch, then stand up, like a wave, and when a few are linked together you can make a wavedash as long as the stage if you please. The best locations to do this are on the spaceship in Fourside, the oil spill in Flatzone, the ice patches on Icicle Mountain and the slippery pink part in the F-Zero track.
Wavedancing: This is done by taking the first 1-2 steps of your dash then wavedashing backwards. It could be used to look flashy or to fake the opponent out.
Powershielding: The time on this is very hard, it has to be down to the split second. When a projectile is so close that it’s inside your shield range, press shield (you have to click the shoulder button) and it will reflect the projectile. You can do this with normal attacks, making a white flash and just blocking the attack, computers do it often. Reflecting is the best, powershielding normal moves is useless because a ground dodge is better.
Spike (Meteor Smash) Recovering: This is extremely useful, but probably the hardest thing to pull off. If you’re fighting someone that has a really good spike and uses it, instead of getting KOed all the time, you can recover in the air from it. Just press L/R or Z and X/Y right after getting spiked and you’ll be ok and have all your jumps back.

BIOGRAPHY

Said to be the sole man born to the Gerudo tribe in a hundred years, Ganondorf aspired to conquer the world. He plundered a piece of the sacred Triforce from the Temple of Time when Link pulled the Master Sword from it’s pedestal. With the Triforce of Power in Ganondorf’s possession, Hyrule was plunged into darkness until Link and Zelda defeated the fiend. Since he’s slow and can’t jump very high, Ganondorf relies mainly on his immense physical strength to overwhelm his enemies. His great weight also makes him a difficult foe to send off screen. Ganondorf’s Warlock Punch is slow but absurdly powerful, and when he strikes with his Gerudo Dragon, enemies rise skyward enveloped in dark flames. Ganondorf’s slow speed works against him in single combat, but in melees, his crazy power lets him earn his keep with innumerable KOs. Ganondorf can’t strike quickly, but each blow he lands adds up. Ganondorf is at his quickest when he uses the Wizard’s Foot, and his Dark Dive blasts foes in a burst of dark energy.

Good stuff, but you might want to edit the post and either separate the techniques sections a bit, or put the technique names in BOLD.

STRATEGIES

How to fight against Doctor Mario: Doctor Mario is a good thrower, therefore he uses them a lot, so ground dodge and smash when he’s off balance, Ganondorf has insane smash attacks that rack up damage like mad. He also throws many pills at you, these are very easy to reflect because of their slow speed, if you aren’t able to reflect however, just roll around them or jump over them. The annoying little doctor also likes to do the triple A combo (pressing A three times) so just intercept it with one of you’re A attacks. Never be a little above Doc’s head, especially diagonally, he has a very good third jump and will use it when you are above him, however if you manage to be there by accident, you can air dodge it with ease. Doctor Mario has a immensely powerful forward smash, but it’s predictable and has a long lag, when you see him start to pull his hands back, roll behind him and give him a warlock punch or if he’s an experienced player unleash a forward smash. Doc sometimes uses the Super Sheet to flip you around when you’re attempting to recover to the stage, but if you’re close enough and high enough, just air dodge and move towards his back, his sheet will miss and you’ll have a chance to attack him. Lastly, one of my favorites is the stomp (aerial down + A) this is one of Doctor Mario’s worst attacks to receive. Get him off the stage and stomp him, you’re most likely to KO him very easily and if not he has bad recovery so that helps, and even if that’s not enough, just stomp him again, it may result in you self-destructing though, if you haven’t mastered Ganondorf’s jumping, remember, jump at the peak of your last one.
How to fight Mario: Mario is much harder than Doctor Mario, and I mean like at least three times harder than he is. Mario uses his triple A combo a lot, he overuses it, so you shouldn't have trouble predicting it and counter it with a jab (A). He doesn't throw very much, he hardly does at all actually so don't worry about that, just don't get too close and don't stay still. He uses his tornado sometimes, and the best way to avoid this is to stay out of range and charge a smash attack, when he's coming out of his attack, smash him. Mario is a much better edge guarder than Doctor Mario, the doc can't compare to the old school plumber, Mario uses his cape a lot, and when he does it usually means a KO for him, because he'll do it at the peak of your third jump, to avoid it do as I stated a little higher in the Doctor Mario section. Mario is much faster and therefore his lag and attacks aren't as easy to escape, I recommend mastering every defensive technique and try to perfect them before you fight him, his attacks come in by the bucket load. Mario tends to use his dash attack a lot, and it's hard to see coming because he does it very close to you, but know how it looks and you'll see it coming, then counter with a short jump and stomp (explained in the Doctor Mario section). Mario doesn't use his Super Jump Punch (Up + B) very often so don't worry about that, if you see one coming there's no better way to escape than a simple air dodge. The Italian plumber loves playing with fire I guess, because he shoots fireballs like a machine gun, if you're just a little out of range expect a fireball to come right at you, because it's so slow, the ground dodge isn't a very good idea, just roll around it or jump over and land a hit.
How to fight Luigi: Luigi is a very straightforward attacker, not many of his moves are very powerful or damage dealing, therefore only a few should be used, which makes beating him easier. He uses the Green Missile (Left/Right + B) which is easily avoided by a ground dodge, the recovery is also horrible, therefore to counter, you ground dodge and get closer and smash. He shoots his fireballs a lot, even more than his older brother Mario, but they go a very short distance and go straight, easily avoided with a roll or a jump, and it's actually easier to ground dodge than Mario and Doctor Mario's. He's also quite decent at edge guarding, he uses his down smash, the easiest way to avoid this is to be higher than it. Luigi isn't a great thrower, yet he thinks he is for some reason, so he'll often dash at you and attempt to grab you, just ground dodge, and smash him in return, and make sure you don't just stand next to him and not do anything because you will get grabbed.
How to fight Bowser: Bowser's one of the easiest characters for Ganondorf to fight, because the turtle is slower and weaker than the Gerudo King. The most important thing to perform when fighting Bowser, is to make sure that you're not directly above or under him, from above he'll come down with a butt stomp, avoid it with a ground dodge, and from below, he'll attack you with an up smash. To edge guard, the Koopa King likes to do his Tilt Down + A attack, which actually sends you up, therefore his edge guarding is pretty bad. Do not get close to this guy! He grabs and down smashes, which are both dangerous. One of Bowser's most repeated actions and easily seen is a three hit combo, double A then tilt forward A. This is hard to avoid, so jab him, ground dodge with great timing or try to jump or roll behind him. He also tends to use his fire breath, this is very easy to see coming, he leans his head back a little bit. If he pulls it back a lot, that's because he's going to forward smash you, which is by far Bowser's most powerful move. If you want to survive, I suggest that you roll behind him when Bowser does that smash. Overall, very easy opponent.
How to fight Princess Peach: Peach doesn't do very much, but she more than makes up for it with her edge guarding. When slightly out of range, Peach will always do her Peach Bomber (Left/Right + B) which you can very easily avoid with a ground dodge, then counter with a smash. One thing that you should make sure of, don't get off the stage! If you do, chances are that you're not coming back, she will pull out turnips and chuck them or she will grab you and throw, one of the two. If you make it back to the stage, back off immediately because she will grab you and toss you, and her front throw is amazing. She's also very hard to stomp, unless she's over 100%, because she'll immediately do her Peach Parasol (Up + B) but that can lead to another stomp if you want, usually KOing her. That's all, like I said, she doesn't do much, and she's a very straightforward fighter, making her easy to beat… as if her weight didn't already help you there;).
How to fight Yoshi: Yoshi is a very tough opponent to win against. If you're far away, expect him to do the Egg Roll (Left/Right + B) every time. This is actually one of the best attacks to practice ground dodging against, because he uses the Egg Roll very well, so you have to ground dodge at the perfect times, and over and over about 10 times. That is around 1/6th of his moves right there. Don't ever get under Yoshi, he'll butt stomp you right away. Yoshi is probably the worst edge guarder yet, he never hits with his down smash, and never hits with his Egg Lay (B), and neither his grab! The only thing that sometimes connects is his double A attack, which doesn't send you anywhere really, and doesn't stun that much, easy to counter with any air attack. There's one thing that makes Yoshi very different, it's that when he's double jumping, he can take damage but he almost never goes anywhere, except for when hit with your Skull Crusher (Aerial Front + A). Yoshi is also the most annoying foe to fight, because head to head he'll only use his b move or his grab, easily avoidable with a ground dodge, unless you're at a high %, then he'll smash you and try to get it over with. He also uses his Flutter Kick (Aerial Down + A), which is pretty hard to dodge, so just roll away and then back.
How to fight Donkey Kong: DK is hard yet is a character that doesn't take long to beat. I was playing slow to observe him and I still one the 5 stock match in only around 3 minutes. The ape uses a lot of attacks, the most ranged so far, so I can't really give tips on hand to hand combat except get good at dodging and rolling and know how Ganondorf plays. There is one thing about hand-to-hand that I can easily tell you, it's that DK overuses his double A attack like crazy. Remember how much Mario does it? Well here you go again, the same thing, maybe a bit less or a bit more. DK also grabs sometimes, and his back throw can be lethal so make sure that you don't get too close. Donkey Kong hardly ever dashes, so when it does it may surprise you, but it's predictable so there isn't much trouble there. The ape also edge guards with his double A attack, so it's not that dangerous, but he'll sometimes hit you with a Giant Punch (B) so that's where you dodge, or try to come up a little higher than him. To KO him, either smash him or stomp him at a high %.

How to fight Captain Falcon: Again, a very hard opponent but fast loser, it took me around 2 minutes to beat him, yet he is the hardest one so far. He has almost the same moves as you so you can tell what he's throwing. What makes Captain Falcon so different from most opponents is that he actually uses his B moves, but he uses them at very predictable times. If you're slightly out of range, expect a Raptor Boost (Left/Right + B), which you can easily avoid with a ground dodge. Captain Falcon is the only computer to actually fight you aerially so far. If you jump, he will too and he will attack you very well, so avoid air attacks. Another thing to avoid is up smashing, it's damage dealing yes, but because Captain Falcon is such a fast faller, he will just shoot straight back down and hit you. His Falcon Punch (B) is thrown many times, and it's very strong, roll behind him and charge a smash as long as possible, then when he brings his arm back hit him with it. Edge guarding wise, Captain Falcon is weird, he does random attacks, so just air dodge and you'll be okay. He uses his Triple A then repeated A attack a lot, so when he does just roll behind him and you'll have a smash or warlock punch chance. Remember that even though he is faster, you are stronger and you know how to avoid attacks (hopefully :p) so if he can't hit you and you can hit him hard, this fight is easy.
How to fight Ganondorf: Ganondorf is actually very easy once you figure out what he does. He's actually very stupid, he throws Warlock Punches and Volcano Kicks when far away so you don't even need to worry about them. Ganondorf is a good and bad edge guarder, what do I mean by this? Well he uses his Up + B if you're high and his down smash if you're in front or low. If you're low you'll get on the ledge perfectly fine, if you're in the middle you'll get smashed and if you're high you'll get grabbed, zapped and kneed. The smash and Dark Dive (Up + B) are easily avoidable with an air dodge, and if the placing is good you can get him to SD (Self-Destruct) with the Dark Dive. Ganondorf does the Gerudo Dragon often like Captain Falcon does, so you shouldn't be too worried about dodging it like Captain's. He also tends to Thunder Punch (A) then Wizard's Foot (Down + B). Overall just be careful because he hits hard and make sure you hardly get hit.
How to fight Falco Lombardi: Falco, Fox's surly co-pilot, is Ganondorf's hardest opponent to face, maybe tied with Fox. He has a simple pattern yet is still incredibly hard. When out of range, he'll shoot at you, there's no doubt about it, so either ground dodge or reflect the shots back at him. He's a good edge guarder, he'll either use a double A combo or he'll grab you and throw you forward. Sometimes, though rare, he will throw you down, in which case you will most definitely get spiked and fall down and lose a stock. To avoid this, come from underneath with a Dark Dive (Up + A) or air dodge back. Be careful when fighting hand to hand, he'll do a lot of multiple A attacks and he'll grab a lot. Just stay airborne and use aerial attacks to beat him. To sum this one up, very hard, be careful.
How to fight Fox McCloud: Fox is the second hardest opponent for Ganondorf, right after Falco. Fox fires 1-3 shots with his blaster and because it doesn't stun you can run right through and hit with a Gerudo Dragon (Left/Right + B). He sometimes does his Fox Illusion (Left/Right + B) but that's avoidable with a ground dodge. The thing that Fox does most is a Lunge Grab (Dash + Z) and throw down, followed by a hit with his Reflector (Down + B). Just tech roll out of it and you'll be fine. A tech roll is when you press L or R at the same time as you hit the ground. Fox is horrible at edge guarding because he rarely hits, but when he does it hurts. If you come from underneath he'll do a down smash, rarely hits, it actually never hit me. Forward, he'll do a forward smash, which can KO you easily, and he does a tail sweep which KOs you at around 120% or higher. If you come down from up above, he'll do a short jump and aerial down A, which is horrible, so not to worry. As I've written for each character, just air dodge and you're safe. That's about it for Fox.
How to fight Ness: Ness is another very straightforward fighter. He'll use his PK Fire (Left/Right + B) when slightly out of range, and when close he'll either do his triple A combo or a grab. You do not want to get grabbed by Ness, he's one of the best throwers in the game. If you get airborne, he will to and will usually use his Neutral Aerial + A attack, but depending on where you are he'll do any of them, just make sure that you're not behind him. To edge guard, he will use his smashes and PK Thunder (Up + B). Just make sure that you don't come straight at him otherwise his bat will either KO you or mess you up. Ness sometimes uses his lunge grab, which is a dash then a grab. Just avoid it by ground dodging and smashing. He also dashes and then short jumps and performing a Front Aerial + A attack, again just ground dodge. He has a slight move range, but he's still a simple fighter.

How to fight the Ice Climbers: So far, this is the most repetitive fight you'll have if you fight each computer in order. When slightly out of range they'll shoot ice blocks at you, which you should roll away from. When close, they use three attacks, grab, double A and forward smash. Be very careful when they start their smash, they're the only characters in the game that actually charge them so the timing is harder for dodging. Don't go right behind them because you'll still get hit. So your choices are either smash, or dodge. They grab a lot, so just ground dodge smash, then when they use their Down + B move, the freezing breath, just jump over it. To edge guard they will use their double A moves and their grab, but the grab is very unlikely to get you, so a well placed and timed air dodge will help you. Never be on top of them, they'll up smash you and it's very forceful, meaning that it'll send you flying very high, usually KOing you. That's all, not very complicated now is it?
How to fight Kirby: This is just shocking, Kirby used to be one of the best in the original SSB, but in Melee, all I was thinking the whole time was "How can Kirby become so bad?" Most of you probably know that he was toned down, but to this point it's actually kind of scary. He uses around 5 moves, and that's if he doesn't suck you up, when he does he uses 2-3. You're best bet is to actually get sucked up by him by getting close. If you're out of his range he'll use Final Cutter (Up + B) all the time, just ground dodge. If he sucks you up he'll always use his Warlock Punch (B) so just roll behind him and smash him. Edge guarding, this just made me laugh, he throws anything, and NEVER, I mean really NEVER hits. It's just embarrassing to Kirby users, though I'm not ;). That's pretty much all you need to fight him. If he doesn't suck you up he'll sometimes do some A hits, then suck. And a very important thing to remember, I can't believe I almost forgot this, never stand under him when he's airborne, he'll rock you. And a tip, smash him with a pretty good charge and when over 65% he should get KOed.
How to fight Samus Aran: Samus is a very good fighter, and her slow falling can really mess you up. When she's in the air you shouldn't time your moves, just kick her when she's in range, she's also light so KOing isn't a problem there. She's a good edge guarder, she'll use her A attack and it actually works well. Getting aerial is a good idea and a bad one, because she won't come after you but your smashes have more power than your aerial hits. When out of range she's shoot you with her blaster, so either dodge or go through it with a Wizard's Foot (Down + B), it sucks up the blast and keeps going. She uses a lot of A attacks when she's close so just smash through them. Overall, she isn't all that hard.
How to fight Zelda/Sheik: This is the most ranged fighter in the game, she/they'll use almost every attack available, except for the down and up smash, so learn how to dodge every one of their moves and you'll be fine. Edge guarding, they use the forward smash and the throw.
How to fight Link: As in SSB, Link is HARD! When out of range, he'll use his three projectiles, which are all slow. His bow isn't a threat because he doesn't charge it, his boomerang is very easy to reflect and his bombs too, but if you're not good at reflecting, then I suggest that you ground dodge. When in range he uses his repeated A attack, very annoying but easy to escape, just back up a few steps and smash him. When just out of range Link will use his hookshot and even when he's in range he'll use it also, a lot, actually almost all the time, so just ground dodge and give him a big hit. Be careful when in the air, he'll either do a tilt attack, he'll do an Aerial Up + A attack and he'll use his Sword Spin (Up + B). If it's the opposite situation, he's airborne and you're below, get out of the way or hit him hard, really hard, with an upwards smash. He'll do his Aerial Down + A attack or his Aerial Neutral + A attack. To edge guard he'll use the repeated A attack again, so come up from underneath and grab the ledge, jump up and stomp him. He's very evasive
How to fight Young Link: Young Link fights the exact same way as Link, there's absolutely no difference except that Young Link is faster and lighter. He's also very evasive

Almost done...

How to fight Pichu: Pichu is extremely hard to hit because of it's small size, but it's light so when you hit it counts. When out range it'll use it's B move, the little electricity ball, and when just out of range it will use it's skull bash, both are easy to avoid with a ground dodge. When close, Pichu will either grab you or do all of it's A attacks, just smash and you'll go right through them and connect. NEVER go into the air! Pichu will Thunderbolt (Down + B) you like there's no tomorrow! And this is a powerful move that can KO you, so be careful. Edge guarding, it'll use it's Tilt Down + A attack, that little head butt on the floor, which actually does a little spike effect, so if you can try to be high and use your Gerudo Dragon so that you don't get hit by the Thunderbolt. Pichu is very evasive so don't expect everything to connect. A tip, when you get it airborne watch out for it's Aerial Down + A attack, or just up smash it for an easy KO. Pichu also uses it's up smash to KO you so be careful.
How to fight Pikachu: Pikachu fights exactly like it's clone does, so there's nothing else I can write for it, except that it's a little slower and bigger, making it easier to hit, but it grabs a bit more and it's Thunderbolt is more powerful.
How to fight Jigglypuff: When slightly out of range, Jiggly will either Dash Attack, or Lunge Grab (Dash + Z) and when in range she'll either smash, pound or grab. When your airborne you don't have to worry because she won't do anything. Don't dash at her because you'll get smashed, and if she's higher than you she'll use her Aerial Down + A attack, so watch out for that. Edge guarding, it's amazing what a little marshmallow can do. Jiggs uses either it's A attacks or it's grab, just hope you don't get grabbed. A simple air dodge can save you. When close Jiggly throws easy to dodge attacks, so there's no problem in fighting it. When stomping Jigglypuff, make sure it's damage is quite high because it'll make it back with it's good jumps if not. Be extremely careful for it's Sing (Up + B) because the higher your damage, the longer it lasts.
How to fight Mewtwo: Mewtwo is a very easy opponent, mainly because of his light weight and slow speed, but also because he's not a ranged fighter. If you're far from him, he'll use a shadow ball, this is probably the easiest move to reflect, but you can ground dodge, roll or jump out of the way also. When in close counters, Mewtwo uses his Tilt + A attacks, all of them, his repeated A and he throws you a lot, he's the best thrower in the game, so be extremely careful. Edge guarding, he uses his Confusion (Left/Right + B) to flip you over but this is easy to recover from so no worries there. He'll use his repeated A also, so try to get on the platform from underneath him.
How to fight Mr. Game & Watch: He doesn’t use many moves so he’s pretty easy to beat. When far he uses his Dash Attack all the time, so just ground dodge and throw him, or ground dodge and smash him. When close he’ll use his repeated a followed by a Dash Attack, so smash through or roll further or behind him. Edge guarding, he’ll use his Chair (Tilt Down + A) and his Flag (Tilt Up + A), both are very good, especially the chair, so be careful and try to air dodge, if you can’t then try to go higher than him, not lower. If you’re airborne and above him, he’ll either use his Flag or his up smash or forward smash, also his Parachute (Aerial Neutral + A) attack which has a great knock back and his Aerial Front + A attack (the rectangle) which also hits you pretty far. When he’s above you he’ll use his Key (Aerial Down + A) attack. Because you’ll rarely be airborne, he’s extremely repetitive and it takes a very short time to beat him.
How to fight Prince Marth: When Marth is out of range he will either Dash Attack, or Lunge Grab (Dash + Z) or just a normal Dash Attack. When he's in range he'll use his repeated A attack, his forward smash, his Shield Breaker (B), his grab, his Sword Poke (Tilt Down + A). When you're in the air he'll either do his Up + B attack or his Aerial Neutral + A attack. At the edge, Marth grabs, does his Shield Breaker, his Poke and his repeat A, all easily avoidable by going low. If you're at a high damage he'll do a forward smash so watch out. A tip, when Marth does his repeat A attack, just ground dodge and if you don't mess up he'll roll and try again, while he's rolling charge a smash.
How to fight Roy: Roy fights the same way as Marth, except he uses his Blazer (Up + B), Dash Attack, Aerial Up + A attack, Shield Breaker and forward smash a little more.

COMBOS

These are a few combos with Ganondorf that you should learn, I will add more and more as time goes on.
1) Dash attack, tilt attack in the opposite direction and up. Meaning if you dash to the right, tilt in a diagonal up left manner. To get this to work, don't hit with the beginning of the dash attack, because it won't finish fast enough, hit with around the middle of it.
2) Grab, knee once or twice, throw down, short jump, stomp. Without kneeing, this sends the opponent on the floor with a hefty 29%.
3) Jab, Jab, Tilt forward, forward smash. Now to get this one to work you may need to use the c stick to go fast enough, but that's not a problem. The jab is of course his A attack.
4) Tilt down A, short jump, stomp.
5) Tilt down A, A, A, Side Smash.
6) Sweep to throw down, Smash B and Spike.
7) Sweep, Short Spike, L Cancel, Jab, side Smash.
8) Sweep and hit with his shin, grab the opponent and if you want to, hit them a few times, do a down throw, then short jump spike. This one should be done at an edge, and if you hit inwards, you may KO the opponent.
9) Grab, hit a few times, throw up, jab.

Now it's finished. I hope you liked this, it was my first guide, post with comments, to correct, share strategies or whatever.

Thanks for the comments, and i corrected the mistakes. Yeah I know that it was mostly vs. strategies but that's a good thing. That way people can use Ganondorf and know what to expect from their opponent, the only bad thing is that i did it with computers. It's impossible to do it with humans because everyone fights their own way.

With Falco, his spike, Reflector and down throw are arguably his most important moves. If a player focuses on perfecting these moves, he will become an adept Falco player.

This is what I mean by a player's key moves.

n00b, just because it was in YOUR guide, doesn't mean that you were the first only peorson who figured that combo out.

Also, It's a nice guide, just what your saying your opponent will do sounds alot like what a computer would do.

Nah, I didn't mean that you were copying me, Mista, but putting an "Important Moves" section, and having Oliver list FALCO's important moves, which were the ones in my guide, would be like copying me, but whatever.. If it helps the no0bs, do so.

And MasterofFlames, WTF are you talking about? What combo? What the ****?

BTW, I renamed it Vertikill, if you want you can change it, since the Elevator sounds like a recovery move, by elevating or so.

I think he meant that it was on the 6th page of the Melee Discussion board, not the topic...heh.

It's a very good guide for your first one, very detailed...and it has most of what you'd want to know about Ganondorf. Nice job.

heh, i'm pretty sure it's sarcasm for whoever asked. And i'll have to agree. Why do i care about learning how to beat lvl9's? I could pick up any character and beat lvl9s. And you have a move list- great but you don't tell what moves are good for what. All the tips in the beginning are cool, but I come in this topic looking for Ganondorf strats, not to refresh my memory on advanced techniques. Overall, i'm kinda dissapointed- i feel like there was a ton of basic information i didn't care about. Then when you finally got to something of substance- gameplay, I find a bunch of lackluster strats on how to beat cpus. I honestly feel my time was wasted just reading all that. I think at best this guide would be best suited for helping someone who's never played the game before.

I wrote at the top that I wouldn't include combos first of all, stringing attacks together, because it's one of the best parts of the game and custom combos rule, so that's already one thing down. And for the strats, everyone fights differently so how can I give you strategies on beating people? It's useless because chances are that the person I play with doesn't play like anynone else, thus making the strats useless or not as effective. All you need to know is how to attack and how to defend, which is very simple. Just master defensive techniques and as for attacking, just learn your character, moves, speed, etc. BTW, Sorry Pimp if you didn't like my guide, I tried to make it helpful to n00bs as well as pros, I guess next time I'll give it a little less of a n00b touch.

That was a nice guide, but I don't think you need to teach people how to fight w./ ganondorf, they can figure that out themselves
