Don't tournaments usually run on players loaning their consoles? What part of the setups is expensive?
Gamerheadz has like 3 or 4 melee/P:M wiis of their own which makes melee/P:M easy to run. I don't know how many, if any, wii u set-ups they have, but they would most likely have to rely on the players.

The issue with asking players for wii u setups is just how expensive they are. At the U of M weeklies we've been having (monthly this Saturday!) there's been a lot of trouble with getting people to bring in their set-ups. People don't wanna risk a $500 set-up.

I see. So any Wii U action is probably going to be friendlies between only a few people, at least for now. How is the smash scene out here? I just moved a year ago from the MDVA region, so I managed to play some cool guys like ChuDat. I wasn't expecting much.

Wednesday friendlies don't happen anymore. Tournaments start at 6 PM on Thursdays to accommodate peoples' work schedules. Technically in Edina, not Bloomington.

I know no news of Smash 4, but the biggest issue with that is how expensive set-ups are. Someone would have to talk to Kordell about this.
Oh, Kordell told me it was just for that week.

Currently the venue fee is $5, and will be so until this tuesday!

Yo, I'm from Minnetonka. I mostly play PM and Melee. Are you part of the Minnesota facebook group? Triple R does a good job of keeping the tournament listing at the top updated, there's usually a couple things per week.

Hey guys, I'm moving to Saint Paul for college in about a month. I want to get back into smash since the last two years I had school and couldn't make locals on thursday nights. Hoping my schedule allows me to play more.

I have a question though: Which competitive scene is bigger, Melee or Smash 4? Honestly I enjoy both games but I don't want to devote double the time to practice both games at once, I'd rather just stick to one and practice that.

I feel kinda weird bumping this thread but are there any people who go to U of M Twin Cities who can play Smash? I'm hella sad since I accidentally deleted my Brawl ISO and getting one using the campus ethernet seems a bit iffy. My dreams of PM Netplay died with my hope of playing Smash 4 on college wifi lmao

The only people I've found so far wanted to organize a tournament that uses FFAs and items and I'm not about that life. somebody save me
